💕 Courtesy post for pretty Rosie 💕
We want Rosie to go to a loving family who can give her the attention she needs. She is high energy and needs stimulation, frequent walks with her easy walk harness, and playtime with her owner. She eats two meals a day of 4Health Strive 87 (the red bag) by Tractor Supply. She gets one cup in the morning and one cup at night. We give it to her as doggy cereal. She for some reason does not drink water so we make sure to fill up her food bowl with water. Rosie will chow down so we use a slow feeder bowl for her. We have found that this food and feeding schedule helps keep her within her healthy goal weight of 40-45lbs. She is on medication for incontinence and Trifexis but other than that she is healthy. We give her incontinence medication with each meal and Trifexis on the first of the month. Rosie is doggy door trained to have access to the backyard to go to the bathroom and run around and play. She has become accustomed to sleeping downstairs while we were getting her incontinence under control. Rosie is also crate trained though we have not crated her in quite a while. She is mostly American Staffordshire terrier, some Rottweiler and American Bulldog even though she is listed on the SPCA paperwork as a boxer mix. She is 5 years old and an absolute sweetheart. She loves cuddling on the bed or the couch even though we have not let her in our bed for the past year and have been trying to break her of getting on the couch. She was previously in a home with other dogs who would rough house and beat her up so she should not be housed with other dogs. We are not sure how she is with cats though we believe it would be a similar situation. She does dart after rabbits, squirrels, and birds in the back yard. We have a baby and ever since she was born Rosie seems jealous that someone else is getting the attention she once had. We think she would do best in a house with older children who could run and play with her and without other animals.

Please consider this sweet baby!!
Puppy Tricia has grown into a beautiful dog! And her personality is just as appealing as her good looks! If you are looking for a happy friend to light up your life, then you may want to consider Tricia! She is great with other dogs, from big shepherds to her own siblings--and also good with cats.

She is (mostly) housebroken with good house manners and is looking forward to having her own family to love. And speaking of love, she's very affectionate and loves to be close to her humans. She is also quick to learn her commands and like most young active dogs, she will enjoy a fenced in yard where she can run and play with her canine buddies.

Please consider helping this sweet baby! She is not doing well in boarding.

If you're looking to add a gorgeous female to your life, then please consider Zasi, a friendly, funny husky from the Bladen County shelter in Elizabethtown, NC.

Zasi is only a year old and 45 pounds, so she still has the sweet puppy mannerisms and happy innocence of
those just beginning their lives. But even with all her beauty and charm, she was being overlooked at the shelter and her time was up so we had to get her out!

Zasi does not have the characteristics typically associated with huskies, however.

She is mild mannered and very affectionate. She still has the innocence and sweetness of a puppy, however, but loves to play and do zoomies in the yard! She gets along great with other dogs and she'll make a great family pet in that she's already housebroken and very quiet at night.

She's also very smart--quick to learn her commands and eager to please.

Fully vetted, Zasi is spayed, housebroken, up to date on all her vaccines and heartworm negative.

Introducing Connelly!

Connelly was rescued from the Greenville County shelter in SC with hours to spare! And she has dazzled everyone she has met ever since she left the shelter!

Not only is she a stunning beauty, she has a soft, gentle personality that has earned her the reputation of a perfect lady. Her caretaker says she keeps a clean kennel which indicates that she is housebroken. And she did so well with other dogs, even when a couple that she met were not nice to her. That didn't faze her; she just walked away and didn't even react.

All told, Connelly is a true sweetheart and deserves the best of the best! She walks well on a leash and would love the comforts of a home environment. Her ideal home will have a fenced in yard where she can have her freedom to explore and play. With so many good qualities, she is an absolute jewel in dogdom!

At two years old, she is small for a husky at only 42 pounds if that. But she is fully vaccinated and will be spayed and microchipped as soon as possible.

Second Chance Habitat will be glad to provide a dog crate, dog food, collar, leash, harness and any other needs she may have in foster care.

What a precious, loving young dog! Vance is a delightful pup who will shower you with kisses! Although slightly shy after his plane ride from Duplin County, he quickly warmed up and was so happy to ride in the car to his next destination. He covered his backseat handler with tons of love and kisses.

Vance is about 45 lbs with big brown eyes that melt your heart. He wants to be close to you, almost hugging you, yet ready to run and play. His fur is so soft and beautiful as if he has just been groomed. Vance is almost two years old and will make a wonderful pet, especially for agility and obedience work. He loves to run and play in a fenced in yard but he is also a great cuddler indoors and is eager to find someone to snuggle with.

He is housebroken and crate trained and loves to play with other dogs. He is eager to please his humans and grateful for attention. He listens well and comes when he is called. He's a very cool dog.

Vance is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Vance is now ready for his forever home and you won’t find a happier dog! Meet Boston and Cash, two of the sweetest and most well-mannered dogs you'll ever meet! They have been described as exceptional with perfect manners that stand out amongst the nearly 200 dogs at the shelter. No small praise there!

And their caretaker thinks that they are housebroken as well. They are excellent passengers in a vehicle but also enjoy walks with their humans.

These two amazing dogs are a father and son duo and they do love each other but they do not have to stay together as a pair. Cash is the dad at seven years old and Boston is his son, who is six. Both were listed as Lab/Catahoula blends at the shelter, and weigh about 50 pounds each.

Both are neutered, fully vaccinated and heartworm negative. They will make excellent family additions because of their sweet dispositions. And yes, they are both good with other dogs and while we don't have much information on their backgrounds, their gentle demeanors suggest they would also be good with children.

Beatrix is in a crowded shelter in Lexington, SC, but the staff members all love her and describe her as an "absolute angel"!

On the physical side, Beatrix is 32 pounds, five years old, heartworm negative and very healthy. The dog scanner lists her as a lab, spaniel and beagle blend. She has had all her vaccinations and except for her spay surgery, they thought she was ready to be adopted. She is described as very gentle and calm with very good manners.

She is sweet and social, walks perfectly on a leash and is great with other dogs. However, she became much larger over the weekend and the shelter employees were surprised to find that she is indeed pregnant! For now, Beatrix just needs a short term foster for two weeks or so until we can find a foster where she can deliver her puppies.

The rescue will provide a dog crate, collar, leash, harness, bed, dog food and anything else Beatrix may need in foster care.

Roxie came to us from a neglect case - emaciated, very sick and very sad. But it goes to show how some love and care can change everything. Roxie is going to require a special home that understands her needs and is willing to continue her care. She does have a financial sponsor.

We don't know Roxie's age. She acts like a puppy but has some graying facial hair. Because she was so abused - her teeth don't tell the story. Except that she was caged and wore her teeth down in some areas and to points in other areas trying to get free. We did a DNA test on her and she is 58% Siberian Husky, 38% Labrador and 4% Golden. So you can call her a Siberian Retriever or a Huskador!

We have some before pictures and current photos so you can see her progress. She will do best as the only dog in the house. She does fine with cats. And at this point, we would not recommend young children. But this poor girl has a wonderful heart and is so grateful for life now. She LOVES playing with her ball and stuffed animals. She is great on the leash and is house-trained/pee-pee pad trained. She is still very under-weight at 45 lbs and should be about 10 lbs heavier at least.

April is one of those girls that will just melt your heart. She came to us the day after she gave birth to 4 puppies in a dirt hole. She was the best momma - now the puppies have their homes and it's her turn!

April is just perfect in every way. She is gentle and kind. She likes to snuggle but is independent too. She is completely house-trained and likes to do her "business" on a walk. She's great on a leash and loves car rides. She gets along with other dogs, cats and children. She has her spurts of energy and will play with others, but also enjoys quiet time on her favorite chair. She doesn't dig or bark or jump. She is a typical hound and likes her food - and yours. But when you look into those soulful eyes - she can just melt your heart.

She doesn't require a large yard but does like to lay in the sun and your yard needs to be fenced. Although she came to us as a hunting pack dog - she enjoys the luxuries of life now. Vices?? She really has none except a little stubborn streak. April will require some adjustment period and can look as though she is timid. But she will come into her own soon enough and you'll know quickly that you are the lucky one to have found her.

Unfortunately, her human parents divorced and now the mom is working 24 hour days and Kaia needs another home where she can get more attention.

Kaia has so many good qualities, though. She is good with other dogs (and kids!), knows her commands and is excellent on a leash. Plus, she is housebroken and crate trained! AND if you get her close to a pool, she will show you how to have fun! She dives in after the "noodles" and enjoys playing keep away from her playmates.

Her mom says she will even sit and wait for her food until she is given the go ahead to eat. Not bad, huh? One other important thing about Kaia: She loves to snuggle! She's in her dream world when she can cuddle next to a family member on a sofa or big pillow. That is definitely her sweet spot!

If you would like to meet Kaia, you can see for yourself what a charmer she is. Kaia is used to having a big fenced in yard to play in and she will live her best life with that same environment since she loves the freedom of being able to run and play.

👉🐾 Important! Looking for a temporary foster for Luke from October 11th to 16th! 🐾👈

Luke is an incredible dog, described by his foster mom as amazing for good reason. He's sweet-natured, housebroken, walks well on a leash, and is well-mannered at home (he loves a good lap). Luke enjoys the company of other dogs and has even befriended the neighborhood cat!

Overall, Luke is a joy to be around. Endearing and charming, he could easily be a contender for "Best all-round" dog! He's also a great walking buddy and, as his foster mom mentioned yesterday, a helpful office assistant who loves to join team meetings and curl up in laps during calls.

At three years old and 47 pounds, Luke is neutered, chipped, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative. Originally listed as a hound mix from Lee County shelter, he likely has a blend of other cute breeds.

🏡🐾 Foster needed for sweet Bonnie 🐾🏡

Meet Bonnie! She's a combination Mountain Dog and Retriever mix with a soft, gentle personality. Good with other dogs, Bonnie is around 6 years old and is a gracious companion to any human. She is housebroken and crate trained and such a love to be around. She is grateful for any attention and will lie quietly in her crate. Eager to please, Bonnie will make a lovely addition to any home.

She tested well with other dogs and will certainly thrive in a home environment! At this time, she needs to be in a foster home so she can finish her heartworm treatment.

She loves to go for walks and is a great passenger in a vehicle! She has a very loving disposition and offers a calm energy to any environment. Bonnie is about 58 pounds, fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.

🐾🐾 Niko Needs a Forever Home 🐾🐾

This adorable 16 lb fireball looks to be part Chi and part Rat Terrier. He is 2 years old, loves to go for long walks on the beach, chase a tennis ball, play with stuffed toys, and spend endless hours on your lap. A love love bug! He is UTD on shots and neutered. He gets along with other dogs and cats. He does have "little dog" syndrome with large dogs that he is scared of. He is standoffish with children - but I think he can be eased into loving older kids. He is house-trained and just an all-round perfect little guy! We do require a full application, home check, and adoption donation. 🐾🏡 Foster needed for gentle Leia 🏡🐾

Introducing Princess Leia, a gentle soul from Lee County, NC! Originally named Princess, we gave her a little twist with "Leia," and while she may not have the glamour of a movie star, her heart and personality are what truly shine! Labeled as the sweetest and most gentle dog at the Lee County shelter, Leia has charmed everyone she’s met with her kind spirit and perfect manners.

Leia and her companion, Luke, were rescued from poor living conditions, but both have shown resilience and love, remaining heartworm negative despite everything they've been through! Listed as a hound mix, Leia is now spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. While her age was initially estimated at 9 years old, the vet believes she’s closer to 2 or 3 years old. Regardless of her age, Leia is an absolute treasure with a heart full of love.

She’s housebroken, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. Leia adores her humans and is always eager to please, making her the ideal companion for someone who can give her the love and care she deserves. She hasn’t had the easiest life, but she’s ready to find her forever home where she’ll be treated like the princess she truly is.
