Just want to put this out there, for all who are feeling like it's quite a hurdle to navigate the holiday season with the anticipation or aftermath of loss.
No extra expectations here 🤎🎄🌟🍪

This season is almost over.⁣
I promise.⁣
⁣
Just a few more weeks to go. Big hurdles, yes. And then they will be over.⁣
⁣
So many different traditions with so many different holidays stuffed into these last two months.⁣
⁣
Whether or not you acknowledge any of them, you can’t help but be soaking in them. Leaving your house this time of year means you’re exposed to all of it: glitter, tinsel, lights, food, music, intact and seemingly happy families, debates over which words to say, whose house to go to, wishing you were anywhere but here.⁣
⁣
Does anybody actually truly, authentically like these holidays? That’s sort of rhetorical, I guess. Regardless, these two months that end out the year can be excruciating when you’re in pain already.⁣
⁣
It adds a whole other layer to grief.⁣
⁣
Just a few more weeks to go before life resumes its own rhythm and cadence of grief without those holidays on top of it.⁣
⁣
You’ll come through this.⁣
⁣
Not stronger, not better, not worse – just through. You’ll come through this just as you move through every other moment here: breath by breath. Sometimes on the floor, sometimes surprisingly upright.⁣
⁣
When it gets to be too much, and before it gets to be too much, take time to be present with yourself, with your heart. Take time – even just a moment – to check in with yourself. Take walks, if you can. Escape to the bathroom. Hold something in your pocket as a talisman and an anchor.⁣
⁣
Come back again and again to your own heart.⁣
⁣
One moment at a time. This season will end. The extra added weight of this season will end.⁣
⁣
Until then, I am lighting candles for all of you, for all of us.⁣
⁣
For what you’ve lost, for what you carry, and for the love that still lives on.⁣
⁣

My Tribute to Mara

You chose me, one gray day, on a farm in Iowa. Your sweet face was something I could not ignore. I guess we chose each other, my sweet Mara

Connemara Grace named, that day, after an Irish whiskey. Years later, we joked you were appropriately named because you were a dog who never could control her "licker".

An exceptional hunter of pheasant and all critters occupying your domain. Eyes that melted a heart and the most expressive eyebrows that everyone loved. You were loved by many, my sweet Mara.

You brought such joy and unconditional love. Your silly antics will never be forgotten. Your hunting stories will live on and be retold. I can't explain how much I will miss you my sweet girl.

You gave us so many medical scares, but your will was always strong to recover. Two knees, many ER visits for something you ate, a sensitive stomach, pancreatitis, a "medical miracle" and so much more. However, you always seemed to recover.

Yet, today is a gray day. It was time for you to leave. You are gone from this world but never from my heart. Thank you for choosing me eight short years ago, my sweet Mara.

I hope you forever hunt birds and chase chippies over the rainbow in the sky. I will have a little whiskey in your honor today my sweet Connemara.

It's small business Saturday! Who are you supporting when you choose to have Circle of Life help? It's us! It's not easy to have a small business, but we work hard to make things easier for you, and always will.

We have a farm, and are proudly working with a farming family who are converting it to organic, so we are happy to support them, too.

This year, we welcomed veterinary technicians, including sweet and knowledgeable Amanda, to help provide phone support. This is a woman owned company owned by a single mom, and we are happy to support them, too.

We volunteer and donate to our local animal shelter, Oconto Area Humane Society and volunteer with Cats Anonymous Inc and are happy to support them, too.

Thank you for choosing small! It matters.

ANGELS

I like to think angels pull souls from bodies,
before pain and tragedy strike.

Wrapping them in loving arms,
pressing eyes and ears against soft feathery wing, so they see no evil, hear no evil
and know no earthly suffering.

Only love, only safety, only peace.

I think everyone, no matter how they leave us, is protected as they go.

And whilst I cannot give you proof, just like I cannot show you the invisible power that is hope, or love…

I feel it to be true.

Just like I feel,
no I know,

that people live on,
that love lives on,

long after the angels lift us up
and take us home.

We see so much love of people for their animals, and each other. Yep, most people are good. ❤️

GOOD

Most people are good. Most people kiss their pets goodbye and read ‘just one more’ bedtime story to their children. Most people visit their grandparents even when they have no time and stop by to check on quiet friends, after a day too long and draining. Most people return their shopping trolleys, despite being already late and let someone with only one item, jump to the front of a queue. Most people give money when money is scarce and most people worry about people they don’t even know, day in and day out. When the world seems bad, remember, most people are good.

Here is a heartfelt memorial video that Kallie's family would like to share. We helped her pal Kodi cross the rainbow bridge in 2019, and now she is with him. Peace to Kodi, Kallie, and Kallie's family. 🌈❤️🐾

Our hearts are broken💔! Tuesday we said good bye to our sweet Kallie. We adopted her from Fox Valley Humane Association when she was 9 and she turned 17 this year. She gave us 8 years of wonderful memories! Go chase those tennis balls and frisbees sweet girl! Give Kodi some hell! Till we meet again.

This is such a sweet story. 🚚🐾📦❤️

This pupper has been the bane of my delivery existence over the years. Typical German shepherd with a big bark and big teeth.
My first real memory that stuck with me was the time she had me trapped in the chicken coop. It was the only place I could get to before she got me. The kids finally saved me.
It was love/hate from the get go but over many, many years I won her over with a continuous supply of dog treats. She still barked and chased the brown truck and I still did not trust her but she did eventually allow me into her domain to do my job.
She got older and moved slower and it was hard for her to move but she still mustered the energy to try to chase the brown truck.
I was on vacation last week and I got a message from her family. They were letting her cross over the Rainbow Bridge because her health was so poor. They did say that she would only get up for me when I went by and delivered to their house.
They wanted pictures to remember her by with the man she loved to hate.
She even let me pat her on the head.

Perhaps doggy heaven will be full of brown trucks to chase. Who knows?

The harder we love
Means the harder we grieve

To go on when they leave

The harder to sleep
And the harder to wake
To know they’re not here
With each breath that we take

It’s hard to look forward

Stuck in the middle,
Imprisoned and trapped

Where the harder the darkness

But when that world’s feeling

Escaping the dark

They saw you watching over them
As they finally closed their eyes
They smelt your scent as they breathed
In and out for the last time

They heard the way your voice broke
As you told them they were loved
They felt you as you held them
With your gentle, farewell touch

And now they watch each morning
As you pass their empty bed
They watch you lose composure
And they see the tears you shed

They hear you bear the silence
Of the footsteps that are gone
That walk across your heart each day
Like echoes of a song

They feel the pang of emptiness
You get when you’re alone
In moments when you realise
That they’re never coming home

But in their darkest moment
You were there to hold them tight
And they just want the same for you

So they’re sewing you a rainbow,
Weaving ribbons through the sky
So they can let you know
That life is good beyond goodbye

So next time it is raining
