This nice young Pepto mare is ready to go any direction! Impress at reining and ranch riding shows, take her down the trail and over obstacles, or continue her training on cows - Fancy Blue Rey โRueโ is ready and willing.
Solid all around performance horse with a background diverse enough to go any direction. โRueโ is experienced in reining, ranch riding, roping, obstacles, and trail riding. She has been started on the flag and cows and could make a great amateur cutting horse. Quiet and push button, she is always ready to make quick moves when asked or cruise steady and has a mellow, meet you at the gate attitude. Anyone can ride this mare! PM for inquiries.
Trailer Loading Prep

Some trailer loading prep for Raven - I had the pleasure of working with one of Rubyโs Purposeโs new rescues, Raven, a sweet young colt in rehabilitation so he can get adopted. Though very friendly, he doesnโt have much handling or understanding of the basic skills needed to get him the care he needs. He has never been in a trailer, but needs to get comfortable in one so he can travel to get hernia surgery and castrated.
My first place to start prepping for trailer loading is getting the horse to understand yielding to pressure. I practice yielding to pressure through obstacles and areas the horse might be uncomfortable with. Being very clear and consistent with releasing the pressure at the right times will show the horse where the right place to be is. Being patient and encouraging will help the horse think through the problem himself, and gain confidence in himself and the people interacting with him. The horse in this video had previously been pulling back and refusing to cross the ditch, so, a perfect place to work on all of this to prep for getting in the trailer. Spoiler, he is now happily getting in the trailer!
Kiley
Pretty filly Kiley is doing great starting under saddle! Sheโs got the size, the brains, and the beauty to become a rockstar barrel horse for her owner๐ค
Now I may not barrel race myself, but putting a great start on a horse for any discipline comes down to (1) good horsemanship and experience in a wide range of training techniques and (2) communication with the owner and a willingness to listen to what a great start looks like to the owner.
I look forward to seeing Kiley go on to have a blast on the barrels ๐ฅ

Torben had his first trail ride! While the trail was no walk in the park, he did amazing and trusted me with all the new things and even on the roughest parts of the trail. Thank you Dana, (Torbenโs owner) for inviting us out to your beautiful ranch for Torbenโs first trail! I always talk about the benefits of getting green horses out of the arena and off the ranch as soon as possible for many reasons. Once there is some relationship and trust built between horse and rider at home, heading out on trail can really put the horse in a place where they want a leader and will lean into that trust. A lot of confidence can be built on trail, you can establish more of the partnership between you and the horse which helps avoid buddy and barn sourness, and there is no reason you shouldnโt work on technical maneuvers on trail as well. Always focusing on maintaining a partnership with clear leadership in ANY environment will help a horse progress 10x faster than in an arena alone. #horsetraining #horsetrainer #horsemanship #coltstarting #greenhorse #trailride
First rides are a big deal, but they shouldnโt feel like it to the horse. How the first ride goes can have a big impact on future rides, possibly even the horseโs whole future of riding. To make sure we start off on the right foot, I always go through my checklist with each horse and make sure they โpassโ before getting on. The horse should be comfortable with the concepts he will be asked for under saddle, nothing should be very new about riding except a leg on each side of the horse. If he is set up for success, the step of swinging a leg over and asking for some forward movement should be a small challenge, not a huge one. Typically when youโve done your foundation steps properly, you should have a pretty uneventful first ride!
Patches here did great for his first ride! Thank you Rubyโs Purpose for trusting me with your guy! If youโd like to support a great cause, check out Rubyโs Purpose non profit rescue. They have an amazing heart and passion for their rescues, and are determined to get great horses into great homes. Love working with Marilu and her daughter at Rubyโs Purpose!

โMojoโ is getting tuned up and conditioned after some time off, and heโs looking for a new home! Heโs got all his buttons from his early reining career and is a great confidence builder. Anyone can ride this guy and feel like a pro or just have a load of fun. While his background is reining and barrel racing, he is mellow, more whoa than go (unless you specifically ask for GO), knows his cues, and could go on to do many different types of riding. Youth and husband friendly, everyone has fun with Mojo! Currently barefoot, no major maintenance besides wearing a cribbing collar when standing tied to prevent wind sucking.
Itโs hard not to love this guy and we will definitely miss having him with us. High x,###
Love seeing horses go from worried to confident! Even when worried, โTorbenโ always tries hard to please and so despite a late start into his riding career at 8 years old, he is growing in confidence and ability quickly. Torben is an amazing mover, sensible, just the right amount of sensitive, and heโs looking for a new home! As a QH/Arab cross, he could go many directions with his future. He could be trained with a nice western carriage and be great in ranch riding or western dressage, be a great sport or endurance horse, or anything in between. A strong intermediate or advanced rider looking for a project horse would be a great fit, or someone looking to keep him in training for a few months and have a sensible and sweet guy ready to learn more about your discipline. Priced mid-low x,### PM for details! #horsetraining #horsemanship #quarterhorse #arabianhorse
