As 2023 draws to an end, I would like to express my gratitude to all who have helped BTRI this past year. I want to thank each and every one who helped us with transport, fostering, adopting, financial support, evaluations, resource recommendations, administrative tasks, etc. throughout 2023. Uni in Carson City, NV - Foster/Foster-to-Adopt Spot Needed By 10/1/23
Uni's family moved from AZ to NV with the understanding that a dog was allowed provided that a pet deposit would be paid. Sadly upon arrival at the apartment complex on Sunday, they were told that pets weren't allowed. The family is devastated and aren't able to find another apartment in time. This sweet little girl is about 2 years old and 30-35 pounds. She has been wonderful with the 3yo twins and the teens in her family. She is house and leash trained but will need learn about crates. Uni is wonderful with medium and large dogs but hasn't quite figured out how to tone down her playstyle with small dogs. It is unknown how she is with cats. Her hobbies? Sleeping...and finding the smallest bed for her naps; she also enjoys riding around in on off-road vehicles. Would anyone have room for this sweet pea? Poppy in Salt Lake City, UT - Foster/Permanent Home Urgently Needed By 6/30/23
We are posting again for a foster/permanent spot for sweet Poppy. Poppy's foster mom's rental home has been sold and she is unable to find a place that would allow three dogs. Poppy is a 2-3yo, 45ish pound girl who is generally good with most dogs on a short-term basis (she tested well with other dogs in the shelter and she's been good with the male and female Bull Terriers in her foster home, however, she does not like the older female Chow mix there. She is great with the teenage son but has not met younger children. Poppy is crate, house and leash trained and is hearing impaired. Due to the latter, it is likely that she does not hear warning vocalizations from other dogs (she has gotten in a scuffle with the older female Bull Terrier in her foster home). Luna in Eagle Mountain, UT - Foster/Foster-to-Home Adopted Needed
Luna's family relocated overseas for an initial one-year employment opportunity which extended to a five-year one. She was being cared for by a relative who was been recently diagnosed with a serious condition. Since she can no longer care for Luna, her family is looking to surrender her as she cannot be flown to her family due to breed restrictions. Luna is 7 years old and about 40 pounds. She is very submissive and gentle with children (adores the young ones in her current place) and dogs. It is unknown how she is with cats. Luna is crate, leash and house trained. Elva in Amarillo, TX
It's pretty insane with the number of dogs needing help in Texas. With the Rescue Welfare Trust Fund being so overwhelmed, we decided to post about the silliest and sweetest girl named Elva who is about 2 years old and 40 pounds. She is good with dogs (even the small ones) and was so thrilled that a cat acknowledged her that she did a Happy Dance! Emaciated Bull Terriers in Las Vegas - Temporary Foster Homes Urgently Needed
On 4/9/23, seven emaciated Bull Terriers arrived at the Animal Foundation in Las Vegas. There they were medically treated and given a special diet due to their emaciation. Their regulation hold due to an investigation has been lifted so three are currently available (Jan, Kenickie and Danny), two have been adopted (Sandy and Rizzo); and two (Sweet May and Asher) are in Isolation due to infectious respiratory infections. Jan and Kenickie are orthopedic cases due to hip/leg issues. We have a foster home that can take all of them but we need interim foster homes where they can stay in Las Vegas (or close) while transport is finalized, and while we wait for Sweet May and Asher to be available upon recovery.

They have all put on some pounds but are still a bit underweight...they are still on a special diet to ensure proper and regulated weight gain. Some degree of food aggression is expected given their situation so an only pet home or one familiar with separating and rotating would be ideal. Any fear/anxiety previously exhibited seems to be history (or Trazodone is doing its job). I will be posting more current pictures of this sweet bunch. We have no words. Seven emaciated Bull Terriers arrived at the Animal Foundation in Las Vegas on 4/9/23. Their weights ranged from 12 to 28 pounds at intake so we hope they've gained a bit of weight. Once they are released their investigation is completed, they'll be evaluated and foster homes will be needed. Daisy & Wilbur In Holladay, UT - Emergency Fostering Needed

Olivia In Las Vegas, NV
A kind couple rescued sweet Olivia two months ago when cars were dodging her on a busy street. They have gone through the stray hold requirements and have been unsuccessful in locating her owners. Although her finders have gotten rather attached to her, they realize that they (and their Chihuahuas) are not suited for his energetic and playful little girl. Star in Mesquite, NV - Foster/Foster-to-Adopt Home Needed
Star was found on the road next to a deceased dog that had been hit by a car. She has some skin issues but that could be due to road rash. Found Puppy - Las Vegas, NV
Does this puppy look familiar to anyone? She was found in the middle of a busy road mid last week and is unchipped. She's about 8 to 10 months; and she is too energetic and playful with the Chihuahuas in her finder's home. Hermies in Salt Lake City, UT - Foster/Foster-to-Adopt Home Needed By 4/26
Hermies needs a new home as his owner moved out of state and left him with his mother who is finding it hard to care for him. This sweet, affectionate and active guy is about 2 years old and about 50lbs. He has been around children ranging from 8mos to 15yo without any issues. His best friends are the Doodle and Pug mix in the house. He is food aggressive with other dogs so he will need to be fed separately from resident dogs. He is wonderful with rabbits and ignores the cats that come into his yard. Hermies is crate, house, leash and obedience trained; and he loves riding shotgun in a car. His only issue is that he can suddenly get skittish over something and will run to his crate to chill a bit. Would anyone have an active and quiet home spot for this guy? Dazey in Beaver Dam, AZ - Foster Home Needed
5 month old Dazey needs a new home as her owner admits defeat in not researching the breed before he brought her home to his small, older grumpy terrorist dogs (wirehair terrier x chihuahua and a miniature poodle x min pin). After much provocation, Dazey has reached her boiling point and is beginning to be aggressive to them. Purchased through a Facebook Moapa page, her breeder will not take her back. Dazey is good with dogs outside of her home; and she is crate and house trained and needs a bit of work on a leash. She likes to jump on people due to excitement so her owner is working on that; she is wonderful and gentle with the family's 4yo son. Dazey has also been great with the resident cat and has mostly ignored him.

Senior - Sharon in Las Vegas, NV
10yo Sharon was brought to the shelter after being found wandering the Las Vegas streets. She has been treated for giardia and is the sweetest, friendliest girl. Due to her giardia, this 45-50lb muffin has not interacted with other dogs yet. She may be hearing impaired due to untreated ear infections. Would anyone be available to foster/foster-to-adopt her? Buttons in Las Vegas, NV
Buttons was brought to the shelter on 12/22 after being suspected of being hit by a car. She is able to stand and walk but has an open wound/laceration on her left front paw, abrasions on the top of her head, mild tartar and a very dirty coat. She has an old injury (healed degloving) on the same left front paw - she is able to fully use the limb and other than being dirty, she's in good health. She would benefit from daily cleanings of her wounds and some TLC. Buttons is about 3 years old and 37 pounds. She has been non-reactive to a few dogs that she's met in passing but she is shutting down mentally. 😢

Lucy in Las Vegas, NV - Foster Home Urgently Needed - COVERED
Lucy is being fostered at an Australian Cattle Dog rescue however, they have received word that there is an ACD that needs emergency fostering or she'll be euthanized. Is there anyone who can foster Lucy, even on a temporary basis? Her information is below:

Lucy is a darling with a sweet temperament with adults and other dogs. We do not know how she is with small children but she was raised with a small playful dog and is now with rambunctious heelers so her tolerance is great unless a ball is involved. Lucy is ball crazy and possessive over certain balls. She eats with other dogs with no resource guarding. Lucy is kennel trained and well behaved unless bored. If she is left alone for too long she will chew on cushions. However, when kenneled she leaves the kennel cushion intact.

Lucy is relatively quiet and only alerts to strange noises. We think Lucy would be best paired to a family with older children and live as an only dog or with a non ball crazy dog. She doesn't need a lot of exercise outside ball throwing. She is content to lay next to your chair but will steal your recliner if given the chance. She moves without complaint.

Lucy is 2 years old and 40 pounds; she is spayed and UTD on shots. This sweetie is house, crate and leash trained. She is healthy and young so she had many years to give to her new family. Mochi & Sharkboy in Las Vegas, NV - Hearing Impaired
We're in search of foster/foster-to adopt homes for 5mo Mochi (female) and 5.5mo Sharkboy. Mochi is an owner surrender and Sharkboy is from a local shelter. They've been fostered together for a month; and they are not bonded to each other. Separate spots are preferred unless the fosterer can be diligent in monitoring their play sessions and run interference when needed. Mochi is completely deaf and Sharkboy is partially deaf. Both have been great around other dogs and livestock (turkeys, ducks and goats); confirmation on interaction with cats is pending. Cookie Monster in Las Vegas - Foster/Foster-to-Adopt Home Urgently Needed
9yo Cookie is a super fun 45-ish pound love muffin who loves little adventures and recharging in between them! She grew up with Bull Terriers and has been polite to dogs at the dog park. Cookie has seen cats during her walks and just seems curious about them. She has been around children 6+ years old without any issues. Cookie has not been destructive so she has had free roam of the house and hasn’t been crated. She will go to the door when she needs to do her business and walks nicely on a leash. Duke in Las Vegas, NV - Foster Home Urgently Needed
Things are hopping in LV this month! 5yo, 75lb Duke needs a foster/foster-to-adopt home by the end of the month as his family's rented home has sold and they need to be out by month-end. Duke has been wonderful with the 2 and 4yo children in the household and likes to roughhouse with the 16yo in the family. He is not good with male dogs (that might change once he's neutered) but is good with the females. When he gets super excited with people, he may try to hump but will knock it off immediately when told to. He is crate and house trained and will initially pull when on a leash. Monty in Las Vegas, NV - Adoption Pending
Who wants to tame an adorable little 6mo, 35lb wild child? Monty was sprung from the shelter by a rescue group that specializes in little dogs so they're finding Monty to be quite a challenge and would like for him to be transferred as soon as possible. Monty plays well with dogs of his size and larger and will need someone to give him training, boundaries and structure. He will need refresher courses on house, leash and crate training. Luna in Las Vegas, NV
Luna needs a champion. She developed a severe rash from allergies about two years ago, then Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). She has had a limited allergy done and it's easier to note what she's not allergic to: salmon, cod, bananas, kelp, and oatmeal (there's a more complete list). She is wonderful with children (including toddlers) and she has lived with a Boxer x Doberman female without any incidents. Her hobbies are snuggling and eating bananas. Is there anyone available to help her through her allergies and MRSA? It is somewhat under control now due to diets and meds but there could be a flareup at any given time. She was evaluated yesterday and is an absolute living doll! Luna is about 4.5 years old (born 12/23/16); and she is 45 pounds. She is crate, house and leash trained. Piglet in Las Vegas, NV - Adoption Pending
Piglet entered our program this week when his owner moved and couldn't take him with. He just turned 10 years old on 6/22 and he weighs about 64 pounds. He's in good general health but he has a large mass on his left thigh. Due to several masses throughout his body, we'll get him x-rayed to ensure that if the masses are cancerous, the cancer has not spread to his vital organs. If they and his lab work is clear, we will proceed with the mass removal and dentistry. He previously lived with a Chocolate Lab and a smaller Terrier mix without any issues (both males). Sophie in Las Vegas, NV
Sophie needs a new home as she is not good with the livestock there. This 2yo, 40lb muffin was adopted from the Pahrump shelter late last year and does well with the smaller dogs in her home. She's a wonderful companion who goes to the office daily and chills on a bed, using her owner's purse as a pillow. Sophie and a dominant Boxer female at the office immediately butted heads and have been mortal enemies ever since. Sophie has nipped at the younger grandchildren so a home with no or older children is preferred. She is crate, house and about 80% leash trained (she will initially pull). She can do some resource guarding but will back off when told firmly that she's being silly.
