Happy 4th of July! 🎆
While this is a time for celebrating with family and friends, for pets, it can be stressful. Fireworks cause many dogs to feel scared and anxious, even if you’re home with them.
So, here are a few ways you can be prepared!
👉 Make sure your pup is microchipped or has your information on its collar, just in case it gets out.
👉Find a quiet place in your home and drown out any outside noise with music or the TV.
👉Ask your vet about calming medicine.
👉Let them run off some energy before the fireworks start so they are tired.
Have a safe and happy Fourth of July! 🐶🎆

Keeping your cat cool in the summer concerns all pet owners. The best way to do this is by freezing your cat’s wet food. 🐱☀️
Spread wet food onto a lick mat and freeze for 2 hours. This is a great activity that can cool your kitty off while also engaging their brain. 🧠

Travis was practically born into the world of pet food, from doodling brand logos as a child to taking on roles at feed stores, manufacturing plants, and warehouses as a teenager.
Post-UC Davis, Travis launched a successful pet food distribution business for indie stores fueled by his childhood passion.
This led him back to UC Davis for a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree. Now, living in Austin, Texas, he balances his family life with a love for pets and nutrition. 🐶🐱

Depending on where you live, the summer months can be hot and miserable, and if you have pets, it can be hard to tell when they feel overheated or uncomfortable.
So, to keep your furry friends safe, here are a few safety tips to keep in mind this summer!
☀️ NEVER leave your pet in a hot car. Even with the windows cracked, getting sufficient airflow for the pet can be difficult. It’s best to leave the vehicle on or keep the pet at home.
☀️ Limit the amount of outdoor exercise during peak heat hours. The morning and evening times are the best to play outside and get their energy out.
☀️ Don’t rely on fans to keep them cool. Especially on humid days, a fan will only blow around hot air, making the situation worse.

Coming to you with another friendly mutt tip!
Don’t forget about routine vaccinations as your pup gets older. When they are puppies, they are required to get a lot of check-ups and vaccinations within the first year.
After that, the maintenance of vaccinations slows down, and it’s up to you to keep up with the routine care even when they look and feel fine.
This will also go hand in hand with any grooming or boarding you do with your pet. Since they require up-to-date vaccines, this can help you maintain their health without even thinking about it!

Just like you, your cat's teeth need to be brushed every day to prevent bad breath and the risk of periodontal disease.
It's also important to note that if your cat has bad breath, it could be a sign of dental problems.
Be sure to pick up a cat toothbrush and toothpaste the next you’re out getting treats for your feline friend!

Here’s a quick tip for dog owners: always keep them on a leash when you go out in public.
While your pup may be calm and friendly in these environments, other dogs may feel more anxious and defensive. The last thing you want is a beautiful park day ruined by an accidental dog fight.

A healthy pup will have a cool and damp nose. 🐶 If your pup's nose feels dry, they could be dehydrated.
