“♨️♨️ HOT WEATHER REMINDER ♨️♨️
With the temperatures reaching into 90s and the heat index over 100, we wanted to remind everyone of some helpful hints for summer safety.
➡️ Heatstroke: If you don’t need to travel with your pet, please leave them at home inside in a cool area. Even if on accident, leaving your pets in the car during warmer weather and extreme heat can lead to heatstroke, which is an emergency situation and can be fatal. If you do need to travel with your pet, be aware of the signs of heatstroke and make sure your pet has access to cooler areas and water. Please also supervise your pet when outside during periods of warmer weather. Dog parks, playing outside, hiking, and walking should always be done with summer safety in mind.
➡️ Walks: Walking them on hot asphalt can lead to burns on the bottom of their paw pads. If you press your palm to the hot pavement for 7 seconds and it is too hot for you… it is too hot for your pet to walk on. Please try to choose cooler times of day in the early morning or late evening to help avoid any issues, or walk in a grassy area.
Always seek immediate care if your pet is suffering a heat-related emergency 🚨”

Keep your pets safe during this heatwave! Our friends at Earth Animal put together this awesome graphic to show all the different factors of how your pup handles the heat! You can always stop by your local Premier Pet Supply for enrichment items to keep your pup entertained in the cool AC, inside. When you are outside, please make sure to always have water accessible and keep the time out there limited. If the ground is hot to the touch your dog's sensitive paws are at risk of burning so be mindful of that!

Continuing our spotlight of adoptable cats for Adopt a Cat Month, here are some adorable babies at Dane County Humane Society that would love to go home with you!
“Last week, we took in 50 cats from just one household, quickly filling up our cat housing at the shelter and pushing us to over 150 cats in our care. These cats received physical exams and behavior assessments, and they were treated for fleas and other medical concerns. Our veterinary team has been extremely busy doing spay/neuters, vaccines, and microchips, too. Now, some of the kitties are ready to find new, loving homes! A number of the cats are friendly and playful, and some are a little more shy. Stop by our Adoption Center between 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm today (Thursday) to meet these cute kitties.

It's tick season! Keep our dog protected using these all-natural tips:
1. Regularly check your dog for ticks after outdoor activities.
2. Use essential oils like lavender, cedar or eucalyptus as a natural repellent.
3. Maintain a clean yard by trimming tall grass and removing leaf litter.
4. Bathe your dog with a natural tick-repellent shampoo. I really love Cedarcide products. They also make a great spray repellent that is safe for humans and pets.
5. Add garlic to your dog's diet in moderation (consult your vet first).

to our office cat 🐱 Bingo! She was adopted from the Waukesha Humane Society a few years ago. She loves tummy rubs, cardboard boxes 📦 and our Director of Operations, Garrison. You can often find her on his desk 🖥️, lying on his keyboard ⌨️ or trying to steal his food 🍗.

We just wanted to tell you now is the time to get rid of your foxtails in the yard. If we wait too much longer they will be too dry. That means if you remove them in a dryer state they will drop their spikes everywhere which then can make it easier for them to embed in your pet’s skin or accidentally inhale.

Hailing from Milwaukee, WI, Fay now calls Wautoma home, where she lives with her husband and best friend, Bob. Fay is one of the hardest working and most reliable employees at FPP. Starting out in Production, she has now become our #1 in Packaging and even lends a hand in Shipping from time to time. Honoring the brave four-legged heroes who served and sacrificed for our freedom. 🐾❤️
Slide 1: Nemo saved his handler during an ambush at Tan Son Nhut Airbase in Vietnam, 1966. He was one of 4,000 dogs who served in he Vietnam War.
Slide 2: Stubby was the most famous canine hero of WWI. Serving in the trenches in France, he alerted troops to incoming gas attacks, aided in catching German spies and located missing soldiers.
Slide 3: Cairo was a member of Seal Team Six that killed Osama Bin Laden.
Slide 4: Cooper was a member of the 94th Mine Dog Attachment serving in Iraq. He and his handler were killed by an explosive device on July 6th, 2007.
Slide 5: Sallie Ann Jarrett, a female pit bull terrier, served as a mascot and morale support of the 11th Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War. This brave girl guarded her dead and wounded soldiers during the Battle of Gettysburg. She died at the Battle of Hatchers Run in 1865.
