🎓🐾 Training Tip of the Week 🐾🎓 Teaching your dog to "lay down" is a great way to build focus and calm energy! 🐕✨ This week, we’re featuring an easy step-by-step guide from to help your pup master this essential command.

Here’s a quick overview:
1️⃣ Start with your dog in a sitting position.
2️⃣ Hold a treat close to their nose and slowly move it down to the ground.
3️⃣ As they follow the treat with their nose, their body should naturally lower.
4️⃣ Once they lay down, say “down” and reward them with the treat (and lots of praise!). 🐾🍠

Cold weather tip from Wisconsin Humane Society. ❄️

With the snow here and a cold snap heading our way in a few days, we want to share this tip in advance, just in case! ❄️
Doggie bathroom breaks can already be brutal in the winter and get even worse when temperatures plummet. 🥶 If you can find straw (not hay) at a local farm or a garden supply store, now would be a good time to snag a bale. A little goes a long way when spread in a small area of your yard. It can preserve your pup’s paws for a few valuable extra minutes during dangerously low temps, then covers any mud in the spring thaw!

As someone who called Los Angeles home for most of her life, it breaks my heart to see my city scorched by these devastating fires. This isn’t just about celebrities or wealthy neighborhoods—communities like Altadena, one of LA's first middle-class Black neighborhoods, have been ravaged. Over 7,000 homes and businesses, representing generations of hard work, are gone.

The fires have also devastated our wildlife, leaving countless animals without homes. Yet, amidst the heartbreak, I’m in awe of the incredible firefighters from across the USA, Canada, and Mexico who are working tirelessly to protect and rebuild. 🙏🔥

Please be mindful of the disinformation circulating online and focus on the real stories of loss and resilience. If you can, consider donating to animal rescues (listed in the video) or GoFundMe campaigns supporting residents of Altadena and beyond who have lost everything. Every little bit helps.

Together, we can bring hope back to LA. 🌎💛
