Most of you know about our famous tree saga ... we have lost close to/if not more then 80 trees in the past 3-4years and I’m happy to report that 90% of them are GONE!

We couldn’t have done it without so much help from so many people, you know who you are!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It’s SO fun having people out to meet and see all the animals!
As most of you know, my mom has worked at Guldens since I can remember and her co-workers aren’t just co-workers anymore, they are lifelong friends!

Thanks Guldens crew for coming out and brightening our week! It’s so fun to see other people enjoy what we are so passionate about - our animals!!

Meet them Monday! ❤️

Next up: Bonzo

How long have we had him: 7 years

Where did we get him: We got Bonzo & his momma Amarillo up in northern, MN from a bad home.

How old: When we got Bonzo he was just a little guy still nursing off his momma. So he is 7 😊

What kind/breed: we assume QH or QH cross of some sort. We know Amarillo was a QH but have no idea who his dad is!

Fun facts: Bonzo is our problem child. He like to escape the fence and push his boundaries as well as get hurt ... he also learned which doors mine and would stand outside of it looking at himself in the reflection. One time he decided he was going to try and jump the fence and lacerated his leg right above the hoof halfway around, we brought him to Stillwater equine where they had to lay him down for surgery with anesthesia and flush his joint. Talk about a money pit (but you don’t know half of it yet 🤣)

A little about Bonzo:
Bonzo and his mom Amarillo were the first horses we ever brought to the farm. Sarah purchased the two of them for $400 from a gal in Clearwater Minnesota, Who didn't take very good care of them. Amarillo was abused and Bonzo was just shy of a month old.
Bonzo has such a long story because we have had him for 7 years now let's just say he kind of lives up to his name. Dad is been giving him nuggies on his head since he first step foot on this property.
Our intentions with Bonzo was to rescue/rehab/re-home him to make room for another horse in need. We held onto Bonzo for so long because I really didn't want to sell him, we had all grown so attached. Unfortunately this past year it came time and we needed to downsize because the vet bills, hay bills etc. and no one else was ready to go. I really thought I scoured and questioned every candidate that called and really understood and trusted the person he was going to go to. I checked with mutual connections, and everything came back 100%. The day came for Bonzo to go and of course I couldn't stop crying, the buyer and his girlfriend stayed for about two hours and chatted with me, my parents and Aaron and promised tons of updates. We signed a contract with first buyback rights, I told him and told him again how hard this was for me, but they reassured me and I felt comfortable. 18 hours later and a amazing person message me with the worst thing I've ever heard.
Bonzo was at the Simon sale.
I purchased Kahlúa and Moxie from the Simon sale.
Aaron and I flew to Hastings faster than we really should have. Sandy Nordstrom bid up to $1000 for him but he went more than that and by the time we got there he was already sold. I found the stall Bonzo was in before I found the lady that bought him and instantly my world shattered. Bonzo had a cut on his face and his back chestnuts had been ripped out to the muscle and it appeared as if he had been drugged so that the guy that bought him from me could ride him (Bonzo was not broke enough to be riding in this upbeat environment) when Bonzo saw/heard me he started weaving back-and-forth, as is he was panicked. Once we found the lady who bought him from the sale we found out she was planning on taking him to an Iowa auction. Problem with all of this is that once auction pipeline starts a lot of times they don't end up in good homes, they end up in slaughter. Aaron bought Bonzo back from her for $1052.50.

Meanwhile while we were on our way to the sale I was messaging the guy that I sold him to offering more than what he paid and asking why he was doing this and he had completely changed his demeanor and was telling me I sold him a counterfeit horse and that he wanted $1500. A true horse person will never get to know a horse in that short amount of time.
Shortly after Bonzo started feeling better, Aaron started riding him and realized he needed to go to training. We sent him to training with Sandy Nordstrom for two months, a few weeks after he got back he became lame on his front right leg. After vet exam and ultrasound we found out he torn a tendon in his leg. 😬
Happy to report that on Friday, Bonzo got a clear bill of health and his tendon is 99% healed and he can start going back into light work and work our way up!

Favorite snack/treat: anything he shouldn’t eat.

Funny thing: When we first got Bonzo, Dan used to give him noogies on his head!

Nicknames: Bonzo Brain, Bozo ect.

Fun fact: Summer two years ago we had a TERRIBLE windstorm and exactly a month later, a small tornado. With both storms we lost/damaged roughly 65-80 trees and we are STILL cleaning up 🤣

Meet them Monday! ❤️

Next up: Delilah "the queen"

How long have we had her: 9 years in June

Where did we get her: The Humane Society

How old: She was 9 in April

What kind/breed: Australian Cattle Dog cross

Fun facts: Delilah is human like in the way she doesn't tolerate anyone to break house rules, also her name came from the song "hey there Delilah" when that song played when we picked her up from the Humane Society she went crazy!

A little about Delilah: She's intense, shes incredibly loyal and loving to her humans, her best friend was Romeo and she missed him daily, she brings shoes all over the house (so no one can ever find them) very vocal, humanly smart, corrals all the animals who are getting out of hand, doesn't like to get dirty, EXTREMELY PICKY, very fast, HATES thunderstorms/fireworks etc, like skunks (but that's a long story)...

Favorite snack/treat: she can sniff chocolate a mile away .. don’t worry, we don't feed it to her.

Funny thing: she won't eat unless someone's with her, she has severe separation anxiety.

Nicknames: Lilah May or Lilah Mayhem, The Queen.

Meet them Monday! ❤️

First up: Spark, our very first horse & the reason our farm is named “A Spark of Hope” he doesn’t need too much introduction 🤣

How long have we had them: 10 years now!

How old: Spark is 19 this year!

What kind/breed: Half-Arabian (no that doesn’t make him half a horse 🤣)

Fun facts: Spark has been to the state fair, horse expo, the cabin, many shows, horse camping, swimming, subway, a traditional Indian wedding, my graduation party (in shoreview, our Halloween parties, and SO much more. He’s basically a fan favorite 🙌

A little about Spark: Spark has come a very long way in the time we have had him - in the beginning I hit the ground a lot while riding him. He loved to run but didn’t like to stop 😅 in the past 10 years he has changed dramatically into a horse absolutely ANYONE can ride and also a horse who isn’t scared of too much!

Favorite snack/treat: Spark LOVES cheddar cheese Pringle’s & subway (look through the pictures of us enjoying a nice subway sandwich together)

Funny thing: when we go swimming he constantly blows bubbles in the water!

Nicknames: Sparkplug & Sparkles.
