A responsible breeder takes back a puppy/dog any age for any reason at any time.
This is not a subject for debate.
This summer I have had two adult dogs returned to me in the space of 10 days. After 27 years of breeding.
One dog had a family that adored it. But circumstances outside of their control had it labeled as a dangerous dog. I welcomed this 4 year old back into my home. Due to the training that they had done this dog is doing great. Gets along fabulously with his intact brother and all the matriarch have accepted him.
The other dog that came back wasn’t so blessed.
We did our best to try to rehab it. We gave it every possible chance . Isolation was considered as an option but after attacking a family member without provocation we were left with no alternative but to euthanize.
There’s so much disappointment. But what good does it do now? We screen our puppy buyers and we’re accused of being elitist. You send home instructions, people don’t look at them. You tell them how important training is. Many listen. Some don’t.
When it comes down to it you have to do the best you can. And being a breeder of giant dogs leaves you with the responsibility of protecting people.
Now I’m going the path of many breeders before me. And there’s going to be people that hate me. I’ll just have to live with it.

We’re jumping for joy here at Capriel. AKC has finally sent the registration paperwork for my harlequin and merle litter. We have puppies still available for companion and performance homes.

Website has been reconnected!
We have two, yes you read correctly, TWO litters!
The girls insisted on coming in season two weeks apart. Due to the close schedule I’m really busy and haven’t been able to update the website yet.
We are cleaning and training and cleaning and feeding and cleaning and who needs sleep anyway?
Willow and R***r have a beautiful fawn/brindle litter of 10.
The second litter is kinda a surprise and will be announced in a couple of weeks.
