Triple B Nevada mustang. One week into domestication
Mustang gentling
Standing so close, with him so relaxed, this is pretty huge. Can’t wait to show him how awesome human hands are for grooming 🥹
Every horse is it’s own process. It’s important to never put a timeline on them or their individual progress.
The pen he was in at pick up, he was a buddy/guardian to a yearling colt.. with an aggressive palomino running everyone around, keeping the pen in a constant state of chaos.
Despite that, this guy was very aware of the dominant horse. Did well to keep himself and his buddy from getting cornered and beat on. When he had time to, he was inquisitive of the people at his pen.. would often be one of the closer ones to us…
I’m so excited for the future with this guy 🥹
Mustang gentling.. getting home
On the first day, a few hours after unloading, we achieved our first touches.
He’s a nervous guy, towards the bottom of the pecking order… but still inquisitive. Definitely shows a lot of intelligence. We’ve had tons of licking and chewing through the process so far.
Wild mustang, loading to go home
Another trail outing “Bee”
So impressed with this little girls bravery 🥹🥰
Love a good minded youngster!
Regardless of your intended use, trail riding and obstacles are a really great way to build that important, trusting relationship.
This mare is BOLD.
Less than 60 days into training.
(This is not always the norm, however. If you’re looking to send a colt to be started, we need 90 days to solidify the basics. And even then, even the best horses are still very green after 90 days).
Bee’s 3rd haul out
This 3/4 y/o filly successfully conquered her 3rd time hauling out, and ALONE.
Building confidence and a trusting partnership is the main goal! The rest is pie once you’ve got that established.
Still have openings to get your colts started right!
Never stop investing in your education!
*I did not train this mare**
I was fortunate enough to ride a finished mare at a two day reining clinic. There was so much to learn from this experience! There are always things we can add to our “toolbox” of knowledge and experience.
Hoping to encourage others to get out and ALWAYS SEEK TO IMPROVE!
Clean is fast!
An oldie Goldie I put some pattern work into. She scooted well enough to pull a check 🥰 cool mare fore sure!
A short preview…
A very small peek at what to expect from handy horsemanship..
Nice and smooth transitions using seat and legs, good whoa, handy turnaround, light and responsive willingness… creating connection and feel and effective communication, which creates a happy and willing partnership in your horse!
