We run a very friendly, home-like atmosphere at Mary's Buddies. They're all a part of a comfortable, non-stressful, no-crate stay while here. Bobby (on the chair) is the welcome wagon in a dog sense, over-seeing friends getting acquainted.

Bobby is doing a wonderful job making the visitor pups feel right at home. The little fluffy girl in the background wasn't sure she would be this comfortable this soon, but it only took a few minutes. His smile won her over.

Let's welcome Bobby as the new apprentice in the PR department at Mary's Buddies. He's young enough to keep up with the young visitors, just enough Golden to really love them all, and a smattering of Border Collie to know when any visiting dog needs some special times with our staff, a staff of two, to be precise. He is very happy to be a part of this welcoming wagon.

Augie is a frequent guest at Mary's Buddies. Due to a slight physical impairment, he usually requests a private room, only coming out to play with Copper when he's in the mood. It works out perfectly! One of our favorites!

My sweet Copper. He just grabbed a toy belonging to a very shy new boarder here at my house, lured her out of her seclusion and into the rest of our house, and now she's enjoying the freedom that she needs, that her shyness was making impossible. He seems to know just what to do for every dog that comes to stay with us. He's full of insight and kind heart. Golden Retrievers have it all.

Well, this sweet girl has been at my house for 20 minutes and I'm already loving her! She's a four-year-old chocolate lab, which could have meant excessive energy and lots of frenetic curiosity. The checklist for all things dog related is now checked in the 'yes' box. I've always had my own pack of dogs, usually two or three at a time. One day I saw an ad for volunteers needed at a local rescue group. I joined their team as a 'stash house,'a temporary respite between leaving the vet clinics and their forever homes. Then 10 years ago, I was fortunate enough to join a dog-walking company and made this my full-time profession from that day until now. The most logical next step was to create Mary's Buddies. It's proof to me now that you really can work at what you love most!

There's quite a variety of personalities and specific needs that you find with dogs. High-energy dogs are especially grateful for a break in the day when they can enjoy a long walk and active playtime. With senior dogs, maybe their needs are simply bathroom breaks, moderate exercise, and companionship. Puppies require an experienced person to keep their training routine consistent and on track. During the past 10 years, I think it's safe to say there's simply not much in the way of surprises now! With any dog I've ever met, there is the need for a loving person to make their day a happy one, and at the same time giving their owner the peace of mind knowing all is well with their cherished pets.
