Our story

My Father’s Farm speacializes in fresh meat sales, with delivery, fresh eggs and fresh grown vegetables grown on site. This is the culmination of a life long dream.

My Father’s Farm started as a market farm growing fresh vegetables for sale locally through my church, donations to food pantrys, Community Supported Agriculture and farm sales. Once the farm was started, chickens were added for their fresh eggs to also be sold this way.

After losing a local grocery store that had the areas best meat and having a neighbor that raised awesome tasting cattle, I decided to apply for and recieve my Illinois Meat Brokers License. This allows me to purchase cows from my neighbor, have them processed by a state inspected meat processing facility, have them packaged and then I can sell them either on my farm or offsite such as farmers markets. These cows are grass fed and pasture raised and then finished on Non GMO corn and grains to give it the perfect marbling and flavor. The cows are given no growth hormones nor any antibiotics to speed up growth. I am particular about what I eat, and I will sell nothing I would not eat. I have found a farmer close by that also raised hogs and am in the process of securing pork for sale as well.

I am increasing the size of the vegetable garden to handle higher sales, especially in the salad area. I am growing 9 differeent types of lettuce, kale, red and green cabbage as well as leaf lettuces. We have 6 varieties of tomatoes, slicers, cherry, paste tomatoes, yellow cherry, yellow slicers and beef steak. We will be growing mini sweet broccoli, brussel sprouts, spaghetti squash, Zucchini, slicing and pickling cucumbers, two types of radishes, red, white and yellow onions, 2 types of cantelopes and 2 types of beets. And of course, we will grow sweet corn. Most crops will have succession plantings so we will be able to provide a wide range of produce for sale weekly along with meat and eggs.
