Due to an unforeseen medical emergency our groomer Leslie will be incapacitated for an unspecified amount of time while she recovers in hospital.

We will be reaching out to her clientele scheduled between 09/25 through 10/01 as needed to cancel appointments. We will be contacting everyone to reschedule once we have a definite return date for Leslie. If you have yet to be contacted please know that your appointment is not yet cancelled.

Please respect Leslie’s privacy and refrain from contacting her. She will not have access to her phone or social media platforms at this time.

We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause for our loyal clients. Thank you for everyone’s continued cooperation and patience.

Cancellation Policy Update 🐾

Due to the alarming number of cancelled and rescheduled appointments in August & September, we have deemed it necessary to update our cancellation policy. As such, cancellations made 48 hours or less before an appointment may be subject to a charge of half the service rate. Cancellations made 24 hours or less before an appointment may be subject to a charge of the full service rate. We regret to make this difficult decision; but to continue to achieve exceptional service we require full cooperation and understanding. Appointments cancelled in less than 48 hours are nearly impossible to fill which affects funding necessary to continue providing outstanding service to our clientele.

Failure to comply with our cancellation policy may result in the termination of ability to rebook with Barkin' Barber Co.

Please note that once you have booked an appointment with us it means that we have reserved time in our schedule exclusively for you. It is your responsibility to keep track of any scheduling conflicts that may arise at the time of booking/rebooking an appointment. If a conflict arises, please let us know as soon as possible.

We would also like to remind our clients that we are a small business which utilizes geographical location to schedule our appointments on a rotating recurring basis. When clients reschedule or cancel without sufficient notice, we may be unable to accommodate an appointment until their next anticipated route rotation (which in some cases may be up to 6 weeks from their original appointment date). With the holiday season approaching quickly, we are anticipating a higher-than-normal client load with spots filling up fast, so please make sure to book those appointments now to guarantee that your pet looks their best before the holidays!

Rocko is back home and resting after undergoing surgery at Foster Hospital for Small Animals.

Thank you again to Rocko's medical team, and everyone involved in his care. We are hoping for an uneventful recovery and will keep everyone updated.

Tomorrow, September 7th, Rocko will be undergoing an enucleation, simply put, the surgical removal of his left eye.

A little over two weeks ago we noticed an abnormal red appearance to the scelera, and swelling of his left eye. We took immediate action and brought him to his veterinarian where we discovered the left eye's intraocular pressure was almost triple that of a normal eye. His tear production was normal, and there was luckily no ulceration, but unfortunately due to the rapid onset of pressure it caused irreversible blindless. The eye did not respond to treatment even with swift medical intervention, multiple medications, and consultations with numerous veterinarians. With an increased intraocular pressure he is suffering from a constant severe headache, and severe eye pain. After careful consideration, the kindest thing would be the removal of his eye to relieve pain and discomfort. In the long-term there will be no pain associated with the surgical site and Rocko will continue living a happy, pain-free life.

Besides bathing and hair cutting services we also offer standalone services such as nail trims, nail buffing, and external a**l gland expression!

This is Wyatt, a handsome chihuahua/miniature pinscher mix! In-home nail trims work great for Wyatt since his guardian is not physically able to transport him to a traditional brick-and-mortar grooming salon. In the past Wyatt has struggled with nail trims, but over the last 2 months he has made tremendous progress and built a strong bond with . After his trimming sessions we make sure to spend quality time with Wyatt by playing toys, and chatting with his guardian, Judi!

Let's celebrate Pride Day! 🌈♥️

But first, let's learn a little about the historical significance of today and this month. 🗞️🕰️

On June 28th, 1969 NYC law enforcement violently raided the Stonewall Inn, a predominantly gay bar in Greenwich Village (Lower Manhattan). This raid instigated six days of protests and clashes between enraged members of the LGBTQ+ community in search of equality and NYPD precincts.

This was a tremendous step for the LGBTQ+ rights movement which led to the creation of various LGBTQ+ activist groups in the U.S.A. and around the world.

A year later on the anniversary of the Stonewall uprising (June 28th, 1970) a committee of LGBTQ+ activists organized the first Pride March whose route started in Greenwich Village and ended at Central Park.

Although there is still room for growth, it is important to remember these events and the individuals who helped set the foundation for the progress that's been made.

Don't let Lola's small stature fool you; she is a vivacious Yorkshire Terrier full of s***k! She adores spending "Girl's Day" being pampered by her favorite groomer, . She enjoys her blueberry facial which tames her luscious locks, and medicated bath which soothes, and restores the balance of her skin.

After she's done being spoiled, she loves to tout her new bow all around the house for everyone to see (at least until she decides to rub it off on the carpet)! She knows she looks as cute as a button after her groom and knows she can sneak some extra treats from her moms for being so stinkin' cute! 🌻💛

As animal professionals the hardest part of our trade is mourning the loss of our animal friends. We become an integral part of their care and form an emotional bond through our time spent together.

Each loss feels like losing one of our own animal companions. Processing our grief will never be easy, even with a collective 25 years of working with animals. Please know that although grief is uncomfortable, it is a normal and healthy response to loss.

We understand that losing a companion animal is one of the most difficult things a person can experience. Whether the loss is foreseen or sudden, it is difficult nonetheless.

Today we commemorate the abolishment of slavery in the United States of America, and as such we strive for equality and equity for all. This day is a reminder that freedom and justice has been stunted for Black communities and continues to be a prevalent concern in modern day society. We shall strive to set today aside to reflect, learn, and to push for a fair and impartial tomorrow.

We at Barkin’ Barber Co. uphold our morals to the highest degree and will not tolerate racism/discrimination of any capacity through our professional platform AND personal lives.

How may one celebrate Juneteenth as an ally?
• The most meaningful thing we can do is recognize and learn about Juneteenth’s importance and origin. There are many great resources on the internet with insightful information on Juneteenth’s significance and America’s long history of racism.
• One can show their support for the Black community by shopping through Black-owned businesses and supporting Black creators (embracing and consuming content such as music, movies, shows, and literature).
• You may also consider donating to an organization that serves Black communities. If monetary donations are not feasible there may be volunteer opportunities through an organization local to you!

Isn't Latte the most handsome Yorkshire Terrier you ever did see!? We adore how much trust Latte has for ! It always brings a smile to our faces when we can truly see the bond between our canine friends and our groomer. Especially since Latte was apprehensive about the grooming process in past experiences. We found that he behaved exponentially well after a bond and routine were formed between him and Leslie. Through this process we also discovered that he is more at ease in his own home rather than traditional brick-and-mortar, and mobile salons.

Our canine friends benefit greatly from consistency (i.e. repetitive appointments with the same groomer), which in the end creates a feeling of safety, builds confidence, and creates a notable bond; all of which make the grooming process a breeze for everyone.

Everyone give Toby a warm welcome for his official debut with Barkin’ Barber Co.

Toby’s pawrents, Raquel and Rich, told us that once we finish his bath and haircut his transformation into Tobias is complete! He knows once Leslie puts his bandana on he is now a regal gentleman. He begins to wag his tail and is ready to strut his stuff around the neighborhood. We are so grateful for our clients like Raquel, Rich, and Toby/Tobias because they appreciate and respect our craft; they are proud to be a part of Barkin Barber Co.

Rocko is currently settling back into a routine while he recovers at home. He was discharged late on 04/27/2023 after spending numerous nights at Veterinary Emergency Group & Tufts Emergency Medicine & Critical Care fighting for his life because of severe hemorrhagic pancreatitis. It is most horrifying to know he rapidly developed the hemorrhagic form of pancreatitis spontaneously with no known trigger. �
He will be on an array of medications and strict nutritional therapy. He is on two different anti-coagulants to prevent hypercoagulability; one given orally, and the other given subcutaneously three times a day. Two different antiemetic medications to alleviate and prevent nausea, hyper salivation, vomiting, and decreased appetite. A heart medication to lower the pressure in both his arteries and veins, as well as improve his heart’s muscle strength due to a progression in heart chamber enlargement. An oral pain medication to ease discomfort while he heals. A probiotic supplement to help reintroduce beneficial bacteria into his system to promote and restore normal intestinal microflora due to the GI inflammation/damage the pancreatitis caused. A pheromone based calming spray to help ease tension and promote relaxation. And lastly, he will be starting a dietary supplement to help support healthy liver function since he has raised liver enzymes (ALP & ALT).

Otherwise, Rocko is starting to decompress since being back home and his s***ky personality is starting to break through. He has gained a new appreciation for life, and absolutely goes bananas for his new therapeutic food.

We are eternally grateful to the entire veterinary community who worked so diligently to keep our Rocko alive. His prognosis was poor, but he fought valiantly and beat the odds.
