Breeding season is an excited time, not only because of the arrival of new foals but also the excitement and anticipation of what will come next year. We are thrilled that two of our mares, Díva frá Kvistum and Ballerína from Five-Gait Farm are confirmed pregnant with Strokkur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum. Super excited for these future foals 👏🧨😍

These contributions support participation fees, stipends for our team leader and country leader, and team clothing.

These riders have shown incredible dedication, trying out and earning qualifying scores through hard work and determination. Participating in this international event is a dream come true for each of them, reflecting their passion and commitment to the Icelandic horse.

The FEIF Youth Cup is a bi-annual event focused on uniting people through their love for the Icelandic horse. Riders aged 14-17 from approximately 23 countries will undergo a week of training with international instructors, culminating in a competition featuring a range of youth classes both on and off the oval track.

What an incredible trip! A total of 82 hours of driving, three days out to Lettleiki Icelandics with 7 horses, 5 dogs and myself. The travels went amazingly smoothly and we are so grateful for Maggie and all her help at Lettleiki Icelandics for making our horses so comfortable upon arrival. We loved our time in Kentucky, we enjoyed visiting the Kentucky Horse Park for a field trip one afternoon. Ljúfa went home to Ohio with her new owner where she will make an excellent riding partner. The Triple Ice Championships were incredible. All our horses saw huge improvements each day. Emmy achieved over 6.0 in intermediate four gait all three days with Hrói, making her the youngest rider to ever score out of Intermediate. Lulu borrowed a sweet mare from Lettleiki Icelandics who she rode in T8.
We all cried as we left Kentucky, wishing it would never end. We travelled with 6 horses, 5 dogs, 2 kids and 2 adults to Iowa where we spent another amazing week at Harmony Icelandics. Virginia was an amazing host, allowing us to stay in her lodge and enjoy her brand new swimming pool. There we celebrated Lulu and Lucy’s birthdays! We couldn’t think of a better way to spend them than enjoying this lovely farm and showing horses! The horses continued to improve further through this show but unfortunately Stáli had to scratch from some breathing problems in the humidity. Emmy and Lulu were generously loaned horses to compete in the fun classes and had SO much fun with these two wonderful horses.
After the two day drive home, I find myself exhausted and so sad that it is over. It was an experience I will never forget.
I am so grateful to everyone who helped make this trip happen and achieve our goals! Thanks to Elin, Sigvaldi and Asta for your help this spring preparing me and the horses. Thank you to the crew at home for keeping the farm running while I was gone with puppies and foals. Thank you to Maggie Brandt and Lettleiki Icelandics for hosting us in Kentucky and to Virginia Lauridsen and Harmony Icelandics for hosting us in Iowa. To Sara for being the best team mom EVER and Heidi for making the big journey with us. And to our many friends who we saw along the way and enjoying spending time with! I am so so grateful from the bottom of my heart for this amazing Icelandic horse community 💖

We spent an AMAZING week at Flying C Ranch in Santa Ynez, CA. It’s taken me a few weeks to collect all the photos and I am so grateful for the group effort to capture just how much fun we had! I can honestly say this was one of the most fun weeks/competitions of my life! We took 14 horses and 8 riders, five of those being kids. All the horses did really well and so did our riders! I couldn’t have made this happen without such an amazing team! Thank you to Will and Asta of Flying C Ranch for hosting all of us for the week, to my amazing crew at home for holding down the fort, to my hardworking interns Amelie and Karli, and an amazing group of moms who made this all possible! 💖

‼️IMPORTANT N.A.Y.C UPDATE!‼️

As we draw closer to the due date, we have some changes and reminders we would like to share with you all!

❗️UPDATE❗️

The submission deadline has been moved to April 7th for VIDEO SUBMISSIONS ONLY.
All paperwork is still DUE APRIL 1ST.
You will need to receive special approval from the Youth Cup Team for this extension such as:
Extreme weather conditions
(snow/ice)
Injury that occurred during the time of applying. (February-April)

The video time has been lengthened to 10 MINUTES. We reviewed some of the higher level knapamerki tests and found that they exceed our allotted time of 7 minute. Due to this we have increased the video time to 10 minutes.

❗️REMINDERS❗️

There is no instructions allowed during filming. We want a raw and true video of your riding, without the instructions of your coach/trainer. However, having someone read out the ridden program is allowed.

Video must be labeled correctly and submitted through:
Vimeo, YouTube, or Google Drive (If it is through Google Drive it must be set to be accessible to anyone with the link).
This video is a large part of your application, be sure you send in a video that our judge can clearly view all of your riding abilities. We are receiving a large amount of applicants this year and we want everyone to have a fair shot at applying! This makes it as pressing as ever to have your video/paperwork completed and accessible.

Please send all your applications to [email protected]

We are so excited to see everyone in July!
Your Youth Cup Team!
