Golden Retriever Day in Golden, Colrado! What fun! While at Barnside Veterinary Hospital today we are celebrating National Cheddar Cheese Day! (Though we do see some “Golden” retrievers that are Cheddar cheese in color 🤣 🐕 )

Goldens in Golden has taken place since 2019.

Stay Safe on Valentine's Day--Chocolate for is People, Not Pets!
Dark chocolate/Baker's chocolate, Milk chocolate, even White chocolate can contain Caffeine and Theobromine which can be very toxic- even in small doses. If you think your pet ingested chocolate, call Barnside Veterinary Hospital 732-919-7373 or the nearest veterinary emergency center. Important info- your pet's weight, type of chocolate, amount eaten, and when. 🍫🥰

CONGRATULATIONS!! Local sports talent MJ Wright just signed to the BC Lions as a wide-receiver! 🏈 Brouno is one of Barnside Veterinary Hospital's original patients since 2008 🐕, back when young MJ was outweighed by his equipment! ☺️ Where did 16 years go? Good luck MJ- keep making us proud! 🥰

Avian Influenza and Cats

Keep your cats indoors
Do not feed raw foods

H5N1 “Bird Flu”is transmitted from wild birds.
In NJ, wild birds including falcon, vulture, crow, swan, and goose have been confirmed to be infected with HPAI (highly-pathogenic avian influenza) strain of H5N1.

In California, domestic pet cats died from H5N1 from consuming raw milk, Northwest Naturals raw turkey cat food, and Monarch raw chicken cat food.

In a Washington State big cat sanctuary, 20 cats died from exposure to infected wild birds.

😥RIP Pepper! Sad day at Barnside Veterinary Hospital: Pepper, one of our COVID gerbils, passed away at an extremely advanced 4&1/4 years old. Most gerbils only live about 2-3 years. Since May of 2020, he ruled Barnside's Reception area. He will be missed!❤️

Abandoned boy gerbils find "Forever Home" at Barnside Veterinary Hospital 😍

Sadly, our EXTREMELY geriatric last girl gerbil, Espresso, passed away (RIP: May 2020-February 2024).
While in search of new furry friends for Barnside, I was informed that these two cuties were abandoned in a pet store parking lot!!!

Welcome Zane Grey and Dorian Gray!! 🐭🐭
