For those dont want your horse playing with the feeder Its easy to secure your Porta-Grazer in a stall... A closed eye bolt is all you need. Go thru the eye bolt and thru the handle of the feeder.. If you are in pipe panels simply use a corner post or tie off to a cross bar. Do not go around the barrel, this can cause it to become out of round. Use the handle..

Choosing the pan.....
The pan needed per model is dictated by the type of hay you are using, size of bale you are pulling hay off of etc. Each product in the catalog has a guideline listed so you can choose the correct pan for the model and hay you are feeding. As well as HOW you feed. Be sure to read it carefully so you will have the correct pan for what you need. Not using the proper pan can result in a very frustrated horse and damage to the pan. And is not covered under warranty. Also note- The XL and mini models use the same pan, the XXL Corner model is larger and can not use the XL /Mini pan. Pic credit Sandra Cardone

Do you have to soak hay in a bucket? Tired of getting wet when transferring it to your horses pen? Using a Porta-Grazer can help! All models have a drain plug! Just place the dry hay in like normal (in an arch with ends pointed down) Place the pan in, fill with water.... When done just remove the drain plug to drain the water out and give to your horse! You stay nice and dry!

Yes goats and sheep can use the Porta-Grazer- They must be tall enough to reach in (Mini model is 18inches tall) and have no horns.. Use the 8 hole pan as they do not graze the same way horses do.

What makes Porta-Grazer different than other feeders? Its the patented rotating pan! The horses do not eat down thru the holes.. Instead, when they move the pan it lifts bits of hay up to them so they can size their bite same as if in pasture.

HOW MUCH HAY DOES EACH MODEL HOLD?
The mini model holds approx 2 average size flakes
The XL model holds 3 average size flakes and is designed to be filled twice a day -morning and evening when free feeding a horse that is self regulated. You can also ration feed in this model using the 6 hole pan.
The Corner Feeder model holds 6 average size flakes- enough hay to last most self regulated horses approx 24 hours. Its designed to be filled once a day

All Porta-Grazers are ROUND :) Includeing the XXL Corner model. What makes it fit flush in a corner is the added plastic at the one handle. Being round, the pan is able to rotate to lift and hold the bits of forage up to the horse.. You can use it anywhere- inside or outside, ALL Porta-Grazers-including the XXL Corner model- are..... Portable :)

When the pan is in the feeder the hole side should be resting on the hay with the sidewalls going upward...

When herd feeding using Porta-Grazer it assures that each will receive an ample supply.
Place the Porta-Grazers at least ten feet apart allowing each horse their own space. If the dominant horse moves to an occupied Porta-Grazer the displaced horse calmly goes to the unoccupied Porta-Grazer (nothing gained nothing lost). Removing the competition for food will result in a calm peaceful herd with no wasted hay. The green feeders shown are the corner feeder prototypes from years ago.

When dealing with laminitis or founder many people try to restrict the horses volume of forage (in an effort to reduce the sugar / calories), which can lead to ulcers. Instead of reducing the amount of hay fed you need to regulate the sugar/calories IN the hay you are feeding.

When you first start using the Porta-Grazer here are the easy steps to insure your horse acclimates to using the feeder- You dont just want to fill it up and toss it to your horse without giving them a chance to learn how to spin the pan to get the hay to come up.. A set of instructions is always included in the box as well...

Directions for using Porta-Grazer. Proper use will extend the life of your feeder and allow your horse to graze naturally, calmly and slowly.

The optional water trough acts as a lid when traveling. It holds approx 9 gallons of water and has a wide foot print to make it hard to tip over. It fits the XL and Mini model only. It is included with the 3 pc traveler set or can be purchased separately.
