Today the puppies had their third trip to the vet, to get their second shots.
They weighed in at :
Spot 16.8 lbs
Sparky 17 lbs
Mitch 19.4 lbs
Jeff 19.8 lbs
Now I know why they are such heavy armfuls!😆 they’ve grown so fast!
The vet noted how socialized the puppies were. None of them were fearful.
I was so busy keeping my eyes on both the puppies and my little sisters who came along to hold the dogs in the car, that I forgot to take any pictures at their vet visit. So here’s a picture when we got home.

Earlier this week Spot came with me to my online farmers market drop off. He was a good little boy! He’s quieter than some of the others so I was a bit worried that he’d be scared of a big new crowd. But he was great! He got lots of petting and praise. If someone knelt by him he’d run over to them with ears back, in a submissive way. Sometimes I’d stand in a more out of the way place, and Spot had the opportunity to just observe.
Spot and I will have take a ride together again soon!

Jeff took a trip to the feed store this week! It was all men there so he didn’t get as much petting as when I take the pups to places where there are lots of ladies😄.
The place was very new to him, so at first he just stayed where he was. After he warmed up he enjoyed walking back and forth, and sniffed at the bags of feed and payed attention to doors closing and unusual noises.
Then we went over to the grocery store (where I carried him the whole time. Which is an armload as he’s getting heavy!) and then we stopped at the post office where there were ladies and he got petted and praised!

And then there were four…
10.5 weeks old, and Spot, Mitch, Jeff and Sparky are doing great!
Mitch and Jeffs are very similar, both in built and in personality. They were the largest in the litter, and have confidence and courage, always eager to explore and check out the chickens and sheep.
Spot is my favorite☺️, which is actually surprising. At six weeks he was very jumpy and high strung (and I worried that he’d grow up to be a handful), with some moments of very direct focus and attention mixed in. Now he’s the best at recall, follows me around more than the others, has a submissive personality, and loves to just snuggle up.
Sparky was the runt of the litter and now he’s full of spark and life, though he’s not high strung. He took a trip last week with me to our online farmers market drop off and a quick trip into the store. He got lots of pets and praise, wasn’t shy, but calm yet happy. He loves snuggles and pets

And then there were five…
There are five pups still here! One is spoken for and four males are eagerly waiting for their forever homes!

Yesterday was overcast and rainy all day long. Puppies were running and slipping and sliding; in the mud and in the leaves! They are puppies so they had tones of fun despite the weather. Sparky even found some burs!😂

I’m very impressed with the personality I am seeing coming out in spot. Growing more cuddly and enjoying just being with me. I’m delighted in the way that he pays attention and learning to come when I call him to me. I think he will thrive in agility or on a farm with his very own people to “shadow”.

The first four pups of this litter left in the past six days, so it has been a little sad here sometimes, especially for my little sisters, who pour a lot of love and time on all the puppies. So we’ve made hot chocolate and lit the fireplace on this snowy morning to cheer the girls up and distract them.
Arrow, Violet, Max and Lilac have gone to such wonderful people and families! They’re going to get the best of love and care, and live wonderful lives. Thank you to their new families for providing them with great homes!

There’s snow outside this morning, but just yesterday it was sunny and fallish, although cold!
The puppies didn’t seem to even notice the dusting of snow this morning when they went out to play. Lol. (I did try to take a video to record their reaction, but it was one of those times when the video starts when you are intending to end it. 😅). Here’s a picture of them back inside after their morning romp, wet and a bit muddy!

Yesterday morning found us at the vet bright and early with the pups for an 8 am appointment. This is actually their second vet visit. The pups had their first trip to the vet at three days old to get rear dewclaws removed (half of the pups had them). On this vet visit the puppies were dewormed, weighed, got their first shots, and got a vet check. With such an early appointment, the pups hadn’t had their usual morning romp at our homestead, and were bursting with energy. They certainly didn’t want to be in the car, in a crate! They did wonderful at the vet’s office… besides the usual desire to chew on any available cords, and making a number of puddles and then dancing in them. They were all playful and happy even in new surroundings, took their shots very well, did not throw up on the car rides, and all fell asleep exhausted just as our appointment was finished. Precious little puppies!

The puppies have had lots of visitors this week, including meeting their sire, Granges Regal Roscoe owned by Larry Grange, as well as their half sister Sadie (also belonging to Larry Grange). They also met Laura Dykstra of Evening Song Kennels, who was Katie’s breeder. It has been wonderful connecting with people this past week!

Meet Lilac!
This girl seems to be a favorite among the young human girls here, and in their words, Lilac “gets pampered”. Lol.
Today she enjoyed a cozy jacket ride, and got to meet her older half brother.
While she a eels to be slightly more cautious than some of her bolder siblings, she still ventures away to explore on her own, she loves people, and loves playing with her siblings.
