The difference between palliative care and pet hospice care
The terms palliative care and hospice care are often used interchangeably. However, there is a distinct difference.
Palliative care for pets is appropriate for any age, or any stage of disease, and it complements cure-directed care. Hospice care for pets, in contrast, is the continuation of palliative care when cure-directed care is no longer possible. At BluePearl Pet Hospice, we offer both, optimizing the highest level of comfort and quality of life for pets no matter where on the care continuum they fall.
