Another successful West Coast mission for Amelia Air ✈️💙. Pilots Regi and Baxter flew two German Shepherd pawsengers: 6 year olds Riot (the tan shepherd) and Ralph (the black shepherd), each weighing ~70lbs.
The pups came from our partner shelter in Porterville, CA and flew to the Westside German Shepherd Rescue in Los Angeles. Stay tuned as we gear up for another Spay and Neuter clinic this weekend!

Our co-founder Petra and engagement director Stacy shared literature about Amelia Air’s mission with dozens of local NYC rescue organizations - and cuddled more than a few adoptable pets who were out looking for their forever homes! Sunday’s huge East coast mission was a great way to close out July!! Yesterday our pilots Rob and Erik flew from Leesburg, VA to Addison, Texas and back with 37 dogs & pups from Drowzy Dawg () to Canine Humane Network () in Maryland. Many of these dogs were abandoned, found on the streets, or surrendered by owners - now they will all have a second chance at life 🩵✈️🐾

Today our east coast team of Rob, Dean, Katy, Laura, and Mia all flew out to meet our friends from the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter. What a great mission- 25 pups from the shelter are now on the way to the good life with our wonderful NJ rescue partners at East Coast Paws N Claws (). Starting February off right, by rescuing animals! Some of our East coast crew were in the skies today shuttling some rescue puppies from in South Carolina up to the team at , a foster-based rescue in Maryland! Great job, everyone! 🥹🐾✈️
Our dedicated teams were busy rescuing animals on both coasts today! Out West, our pilot Paul and Esmé (mother of our co-founder Petra) saved 5 german shepherds from Porterville, bringing them back to LA for Westside German Shepherd Rescue! ⭐️ Our East Coast team sure is on a roll! The morning after a 46-cat rescue, our squad was back in action today flying 11 six-week old lab mix puppies from Colonial Capital Humane Society in North Carolina to Puppy Paws Rescue () in Maryland. In just the first two weeks of the 2024, Amelia Air has already saved the lives of SIXTY at-risk shelter pets and there’s no better feeling! 🐾💙✈️
Today our East Coast team shifted into high gear with their first rescue flight of the year, saving the lives of an astounding 4️⃣6️⃣ cats and kittens!
These sweet felines came from the Barker Project, and the Bertie County (NC) and Dillon County (SC) Humane Societies. The cats flew in style with pilots Rob & Dean and pet attendant Katy, all the way up to our friends at Cat Tales Rescue in New Hampshire!

Happy New Year from Amelia Air! Today our rockstar volunteer pilot Paul flew our first mission of 2024! Three animals were saved to kick off the year: two one-year-old German Shepherds (named Houdini and Tot!) plus one 2-month-old shepherd mix puppy who were all flown from Porterville to our friends at LA’s West Side German Shepherd Rescue! Thank you Paul! We will have video up from this mission later in the week ✈️ 🎉💙🐾
This week’s adoption update came to us from Tracy, who adopted Max after his November 2022 flight on Amelia Air!
Tracy tells us: “Thanks to Chris at Amelia Air we have our smart, happy, loving, ultra-cuddly 1 year old fur baby Max (formerly known as Nero). Max was flown along with his 4 siblings (Napoleon, Nessie, Nila, and Ninette) from Florence, SC to Arlington, VA. We adopted him a month after he was flown here. Max loves road trips and napping in front of the fireplace. He has been a great addition to our lives. We love him so much. Thank you Amelia Air, Chris and Lucky Dog Rescue!!!🙌🏽👏🏽”

Last night on the East Coast, we completed a rescue mission for Compact Canine Rescue! Our volunteer pilot Eric and pet attendant Mia flew Irene and Lydia (two Yorkies) plus Bethany (a Maltese) from central Pennsylvania down to Norfolk, VA! Thank you to Eric and Mia as well as to Susannah, Sharon and Lauren with Compact Canine Rescue 🤝🐾✈️
😻 Meow! We’ve got cats in the cockpit! Some of the 20 adorable kittens on today’s rescue flight got to ride up front in cozy quarters with Petra & Paul. These pets were saved from Pasadena, CA and were being relayed up to the Oregon Humane Society. 🎁 Home for the holidays! These awesome dogs were rescued and flown from Porterville Shelter to Doggie Bonez Rescue in LA on November 1. We are so happy to see that in no time at all, they were placed with their loving forever homes! Check out some updates and their photos:

2. Rico was adopted by Jasmine and her daughter
3. Goblin was adopted by Sammye and Jordan, who work with the puppies’ original foster mom
4. And Rita was renamed November by her new mom and sister!

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Amelia Air! We have so much to be grateful for this year. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors in 2023, we have been empowered to save 452 shelter pets from euthanasia. We have also been able to provide free spay & neuter surgeries to 107 shelter animals through our new vet clinic program! ✈️

Dean and Petra launched Amelia Air to fly shelter pets to safety in 2019 - so in honor of our fifth anniversary, and our namesake rescue dog Amelia’s 9th birthday, let’s take a look back at what Amelia Air has done so far: ✈️🐾 We’ve flown 1,865 pets from overcrowded shelters to no-kill rescues, where they find the perfect home. 🩺🏥 We’ve expanded into vet care, providing dozens of clinics in California and the South to spay and neuter hundreds of animals for free. 👫👫We’ve amassed thousands of followers and supporters through our sweepstakes and social media, and held events to bring the rescue community together. 📺 🗞️We’ve been featured in NPR, the LA Times, NBC, CBS, and ABC. 🐕🏠 We’ve worked to save animals with 80 amazing shelter and rescue partners. ✈️🧑✈️And we’ve flown a total of 170 rescue missions across the US and Mexico thanks to 25 volunteer pilots. It’s kitten season and our free vet clinics continue down in Louisiana! Today our vet @flyingdogtor Adi Chatow DVM completed 16 spay & neuter surgeries at Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter. Thank you Adi!!! 🩺💙🐾 Spay & neuter procedures are a crucial element in controlling the population of unwanted animals who may end up in shelters or sadly euthanized - that’s why we are currently working hard to expand our Amelia Air free vet clinic efforts in both Louisiana and Southern California 💙🏥🐾

Luna and Doug, 9-week-old shepherd mix siblings, were given a lift today from Santa Barbara County Animal Services to our friends at LaBelle Foundation! Huge shoutout to our volunteer pilot Paul. He shifted gears quickly and decided to drive to save these pups when it became clear that LA wind would not allow for his planned flight to safely take off. February is Spay & Neuter Awareness Month! And today we held our first free vet clinic of the year with Dr. Adi Chatow DVM and her colleague Dr. Cody Pfister DVM! Thank you both for giving your time to complete dozens of spay and neuter surgeries at the Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter in Louisiana!! Reducing the population of homeless pets starts with more spay & neuter practices - so after flying numerous animal rescue missions for Amelia Air as a private pilot, Dr. Adi spearheaded Amelia Air’s monthly vet clinic program. We have now partnered with rescues and shelters in both California & Louisiana since 2022, performing hundreds of free spay & neuter surgeries to help curb the pet overpopulation. 🩺🐾

We’ve received so much positive press this year and gained so many new rescue partners, volunteers, pilots, donors and supporters. We could not be more grateful for all that you do to help us save the lives of innocent pets at risk of euthanasia. The flight up to Cat Tales Rescue in New Hampshire took about 3 hours and was a big success for all the loving cats involved, including Blakely - who as Katy explains in the video was thrown from a moving car before turning around and chasing it. We are so glad Blakely and all the other cats are now safe and sound 🙏 Big thanks to Dana & Beth down south and to Amanda up with Cat Tales Rescue! 🐾🤝💙
