Stolen Dog
On 06-29-2022 at 5 pm, two unknown males in a red truck stole a merel-colored Austrian Sheperd dog named Bailey from Bass Mountain Rd. in Snow Camp.

The flyer attached is from the owners of the dog.

Anyone with information that could assist in this investigation, please contact Animal Control at 336-570-6302 or the Alamance County CrimeStoppers.

UPDATE: Thank you all for sharing. The finder has shared the full story and the location where she was found has been advised to contact the shelter directly. She is safe. If she is not reclaimed by the owner she will find a good home. We’ve turned off comments since our goal of getting the message out into the community to find the possible owner has worked, thanks to your sharing.

We need your help sharing this pup! This cutie pie was found in the Blowing Rock area (Watauga County in the western part of the state) this weekend by a Wake County Citizen. This pup was brought here b/c the local shelter there was closed and the citizen was vacationing and didn't want to leave the dog behind. A microchip has been checked for and Wake County has notified Watauga County that she was brought to Raleigh.

We need your help sharing this pup b/c she's super sweet and had to belong to someone.

She's an aprox 1-2 year old, 50 pound, brindle scruffy mixed breed female. She's kinda unique looking which is why we are hoping with shares someone might recognize her.

LOST CAT! Posting for a friend -
“We got into a car wreck on I-95 south near mile marker 64, south of exit 65 near Fayetteville, on Aug 18, 2021. The car rolled, the carrier was busted and our cat, Emmy, jumped out after the impact. We never found her. She has a collar and a microchip with our info. Please let me know if you find her!”Attached is a picture of her and the wreck location (near Godwin, Falcon). How Air Fresheners and Essential Oils Can Affect Your Cat’s Health
As cat parents it is important to eliminate the possibility of exposure to toxic substances.
Some of the things we do to improve our environment, such as cleaning or using chemical air fresheners, can pose dangers to our cats.
Some forms of air fresheners can be quite toxic, especially to cats who might breath in or ingest the substances or not avoid parts of the home where they’ve been used.
VOCs, the main ingredient in air fresheners, are what can be dangerous to cats and can cause:
• Eye, nose and throat irritation
• headaches, loss of coordination, lethargy and nausea
• damage to liver, kidney and central nervous system
• Some VOCs can cause cancer in animals
Essential oils which are in some air fresheners can be especially harmful to cats. Cats can have an increased incidence of asthma and breathing problems in the presence of air fresheners, incense, and cigarette smoke. A cat might cough, sneeze, produce discharge from the eyes and/or nose, or suffer from vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or lack of appetite. And these dangers don’t come from the air alone but anywhere the particles drop. These can be picked up on the cat’s feet and fur to be ingested during grooming.
“Essential oils can pose a toxic risk to household pets, especially to cats. They are rapidly absorbed both orally and across the skin, and are then metabolized in the liver. Cats lack an essential enzyme in their liver and as such have difficulty metabolizing and eliminating certain toxins like essential oils. Cats are also very sensitive to phenols and phenolic compounds, which can be found in some essential oils. The higher the concentration of the essential oil (i.e. 100%), the greater the risk to the cat.”
Essential oils and cats are not a good combination for the cat’s health.

Read this excerpt from a Romanian Newspaper. The article was written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published under the title 'C'ntarea Americii, meaning 'Ode ToAmerica ') in the Romanian newspaper Evenimentulzilei 'The Daily Event' or 'News of the Day'.

~An Ode to America ~

Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another even if you painted them all one color! They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs.

On 9/ll, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put on the heart. Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the Army, or the Secret Service that they are only a bunch of losers. Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts. Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about.

Instead the Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand.

After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every place and on every car a government official or the president was passing. On every occasion, they started singing: 'God Bless America !'

I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people.

How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being? Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put into collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit,

A number of dogs and cats remain unaccounted for after the truck transporting them crashed on Old Fort Mountain today. Multiple animals were seen entering the wooded area near the crash site moments after the incident occurred. Emergency personnel along with staff from the McDowell County Animal Shelter NC, McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and bystanders provided medical care, water, and shelter until additional staff from ASPCA arrived and secured the animals that remained at the scene. Personnel searched the area for the missing animals. If traveling along I-40 in Old Fort, please report unattended dogs or cats to the McDowell Communications Center at 828-652-4000. Hikers visiting Catawba Falls or Kitsuma Trail are also asked to report unattended animals in hopes they can be reunited with their owners. Old Fort Ride House Kitsbow
