A little over a month ago, Zoey’s mom reached out to us for help. Zoey had been adopted from another rescue earlier this year, but she was very fearful and reactive to people, particularly men, including her own dad. Whenever she saw a leash, she would hyperventilate, roll like an alligator, and go limp. She was living in a constant state of fear and stress over seemingly minor things. Activities outside the home, having guests, and going for walks felt like a distant dream when we first met! But as in all fairytales, dreams can come true!
After four weeks of dedicated work with Zoey, she now welcomes guests with confidence, shows affection to her dad, and no longer reacts fearfully to the little things. And guess what? She’s even going on family walks now! We are incredibly proud of Zoey for overcoming what once felt so daunting to her. We also want to express our gratitude to her parents for trusting us to assist with her training and for incorporating what they learned into their daily routines!
Today we did a Public Access Training Session with Beau. This is Beaus third session with us. Beau came to us for help with his people manners, his interactions with other dogs, how to greet verses jumping and lastly how to focus, listen and settle with distractions.
We had quite the stimulation today, we interacted with people, other dogs, a busy store and much more.
We worked with Beau on relaxing and staying out while shopping or interacting with another person etc.
For his first public session, he truly did outstanding!
Featuring trainee Beau (lab), Dude the doodle is spending the night here with us and he assisted in socialization and counter conditioning!!
Beau is making strides after 2 sessions 👏
A glimpse of a TRUAA dogs day 😊
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the transformation we have witnessed in Millie. When she first arrived at TRUAA, she was a shell of a dog, broken and lost from years of neglect. But with love, patience, and dedication, she has blossomed into a happy and carefree pup.
Seeing Millie run around in her new home, filled with joy and freedom, brings tears to our eyes. It is a testament to the power of resilience and the healing capacity of love. She has learned to trust again, to play, to be a dog in the truest sense of the word.
Millie's story is a reminder of the importance of compassion and empathy towards all living beings.

In this video, there are clips of dogs who have been trained through TRUAA. Not only does this showcase what they’ve learned, but it also shows that their owners are taking the time to use the knowledge given to them to build and provide a better life experience with their beloved dogs. We are proud of our pet parents for being their dogs advocate!
Advocating for your dog through training is crucial for their overall well-being and quality of life. Trained dogs have the freedom to accompany their owners to various places and are less likely to exhibit destructive behavior. Training also strengthens the bond between a dog and their owner, providing a sense of security and confidence for the dog. Additionally, trained dogs are more likely to have healthier mindsets and better cope with challenges. By investing time and effort into training, you are not only improving your dog's behavior but also enhancing your relationship and ensuring a fulfilling life for your furry friend. Be a responsible pet parent and advocate for your dog by prioritizing their training and overall well-being.
