Today we did a Public Access Training Session with Beau. This is Beaus third session with us. Beau came to us for help with his people manners, his interactions with other dogs, how to greet verses jumping and lastly how to focus, listen and settle with distractions.
We had quite the stimulation today, we interacted with people, other dogs, a busy store and much more.
We worked with Beau on relaxing and staying out while shopping or interacting with another person etc.
For his first public session, he truly did outstanding!
Featuring trainee Beau (lab), Dude the doodle is spending the night here with us and he assisted in socialization and counter conditioning!!
Beau is making strides after 2 sessions 👏
A glimpse of a TRUAA dogs day 😊
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the transformation we have witnessed in Millie. When she first arrived at TRUAA, she was a shell of a dog, broken and lost from years of neglect. But with love, patience, and dedication, she has blossomed into a happy and carefree pup.
Seeing Millie run around in her new home, filled with joy and freedom, brings tears to our eyes. It is a testament to the power of resilience and the healing capacity of love. She has learned to trust again, to play, to be a dog in the truest sense of the word.
Millie's story is a reminder of the importance of compassion and empathy towards all living beings.
‘Cause it’s FURIDAY!

In this video, there are clips of dogs who have been trained through TRUAA. Not only does this showcase what they’ve learned, but it also shows that their owners are taking the time to use the knowledge given to them to build and provide a better life experience with their beloved dogs. We are proud of our pet parents for being their dogs advocate!
Advocating for your dog through training is crucial for their overall well-being and quality of life. Trained dogs have the freedom to accompany their owners to various places and are less likely to exhibit destructive behavior. Training also strengthens the bond between a dog and their owner, providing a sense of security and confidence for the dog. Additionally, trained dogs are more likely to have healthier mindsets and better cope with challenges. By investing time and effort into training, you are not only improving your dog's behavior but also enhancing your relationship and ensuring a fulfilling life for your furry friend. Be a responsible pet parent and advocate for your dog by prioritizing their training and overall well-being.

UPDATE: We have received all the funds for Frankie’s vet bill. We thank everyone so much for helping out. It means a lot to us.
A huge thank you to the few of our wonderful supporters that have contributed to Frankie's vet bill. We are forever grateful. We still need $428.
If you wish to help with his medical care and his cremation, we would be forever grateful. Frankie's memory will linger in the sweet kisses he shared with each and every one of us, a gentle reminder of the love and joy he brought into our lives.

Rumor has it, you’re looking for a LOYAL best friend?!

PUPDATE!!
Olive & Owen, two TRUAA dogs who were adopted from us last year, have an incredible story. They were found in terrible condition - malnourished, neglected, and suffering from various health issues. Olive had been used for breeding and had a serious infection in her uterus. Both dogs had separation anxiety and no trust for humans, requiring a lot of patience, love, and care to help them heal. Despite their difficult past, they were inseparable.
Their adoptive mom fell in love with them and has given them the best life possible. She has poured her heart into them, and they now have a safe and loving home. But the surprise twist? A DNA test revealed that they are not brother and sister, but mother and son!
It's a heartwarming story to see Owen get to be with his mother, Olive, and experience love and happiness for the rest of their lives. It truly is a wonderful outcome. ❤️
Mr. Walter here came to us off the euthanasia list at our local animal control.
We can’t quite fathom how this big Teddy Bear ended up in such a predicament!
Here’s the handsome boy enjoying some goodies from Mighty Paw!
We got a new lick bowl, some beneficial supplements, treats, and a new harness!
We love when we get new goodies to spoil the pups!!
Thank You Mighty Paw !!
Heelers are often abandoned as adults because people underestimate the level of commitment and training required to care for them. It is crucial for potential owners to educate themselves about the breed and be prepared to provide the necessary care and attention to ensure a happy and fulfilling life for their Heeler. Abandonment should never be an option for these intelligent and loyal dogs.
As puppies, Heelers are cute, playful, and full of energy, but as they mature, they require consistent training, exercise, and mental stimulation to prevent behavioral issues.
Unfortunately, many owners are ill-equipped to handle the high energy levels and strong-willed nature of Heelers, leading to frustration and ultimately abandonment.
Adopting a Heeler should not be taken lightly, as they require a dedicated and knowledgeable owner who is willing to invest time and effort into their care.
Consider the circumstances faced by each of these dogs, who have endured neglect, abandonment, abuse, or the threat of euthanasia at a shelter. Despite their past hardships, they are currently thriving and enjoying their time as they await placement in loving forever homes. Some of them are adopted already, some are still waiting and some are just becoming available ❤️🐾
These dogs have walked through the doors of our county shelter Kerr County Animal Services and have landed safely here at TRUAA!
