Gabby
Gabby's journey began with a thorough evaluation revealing signs of neglect and mistreatment. She was in a deplorable state, filthy, malnourished, and clearly exploited for breeding purposes.
Her initial behavior was marked by fear, reactivity, nipping, growling, and involuntary bowel movements. She exhibited fearfulness to handling and would attempt to flee at any opportunity, fighting when a slip lead was placed on her.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, our compassionate team knew that Gabby needed immediate intervention. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of our partners at KPA, we were able to have the expertise of Dr. Biggs to sedate Gabby for essential vaccinations.
Upon her arrival at the rescue, Gabby's love for food revealed her deprived state and the harsh conditions she had endured.
With being under close observation, we noticed she was having mucousy bloody discharge and a high fever. This was indicative of a severe uterine infection known as Open Pyometra. An emergency vet visit was crucial to save Gabby's life, as the untreated condition posed a grave threat with potentially fatal consequences within hours.
Today, Gabby's transformation is nothing short of remarkable. With the infection treated and her spay, she has blossomed into a happy, playful companion! Her journey serves as a testament to the power of compassion, resilience, and dedicated care in restoring hope and well-being to animals in need.

Dude The Goldendoodle had his second training session with us yesterday. His parents were needing him to be reliable with commands, build his confidence up and teach him to be well mannered when being handled and walked on a leash. We’ve worked with entry and exit behaviors, place, stay, laying down, heeling, as well as learning to focus. Dudes parents had gone through a few other trainers unsuccessfully before finding us. They are dedicated to learning and want to be able to give Dude the best life possible. If you know how we train at TRUAA, then you know they came to the right place!

Our sweet new rescue Naomi had been scared of meeting dogs. We had her decompress with miss Keeva who gave her the space she needed to feel comfortable, then we introduced rescue pup Tabby to Naomi. Tabby is a loving, submissive and super friendly dog! At first Naomi was unsure so Tabby gave her space, then after a bit, Naomi initiated play with Tabby!! It was such an exciting moment to be a part of.
We are so happy to have made progress with Naomi and take pride in seeing another rescue dog that has grown up here at TRUAA, provide support to a newbie!
At the end of each exhausting day, it’s moments like this that keep us going!
