FINDING FENNY - DOG MISSING IN WHISKEY BAY BRIDGE AREA

Below is an article on the situation when Fenny was lost. His owner, a military man was on his way back to his homebase when an accident occurred. During the chaos, Fenny managed to escape from his vehicle and has not been seen since (Sunday/Jan. 16th)

Imagine coming out of the hospital only to find that your best friend is missing :( Whiskey Bay Bridge is located in Louisiana, and this happened on Interstate 10 at mile marker 126.

LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCED DOG HANDLERS FOR NEW FOSTER PROGRAM!

Yup, we are going to try the foster home program....again. Although we did not have much luck before, we are hoping for some new vibes that will help us, to help some of the VRC dogs that are struggling.

Let's be honest, kennel life can ruin a dog. And sometimes no matter how much you try to "control" the environment, it can still "break a dog." That's where you come in.

We are looking for a carefully selected group of experienced dog people that can foster some of the dogs that are struggling. None have shown any human aggression though some have displayed some dog reactiveness (but this can come from kennel anxiety)

You do NOT have to have any formal dog training or behavioral experience but you DO have to have good dog sense and at least be able to read dog body language, etc. You MUST also have a calm and structured home environment for the sake of these dogs' well being.

You can have other dogs but they need to be well behaved and not reactive towards other dogs (our dogs are all crate trained). No cats, small dogs or children under 5ish (give or take and depends on your child)

You DO NOT have to be local. We will treat each potential foster home as if we were doing an adoption and bring the dog to you when we do a homecheck :)

These "training/foster homes" will be participating with us each week via Zoom (or a similar platform) for regular training classes and updates. Our hope is that, together we will be able to make these "underdogs" more adoptable and taking yet another step into improving their lives.

This new foster program will fall under our new and upcoming training program, "Woman's Best Friend" (the non-macho way to train your dog)

WHAT WE NEED THE MOST!!

It took 4 hours of waiting in line to get this.

I found some cell service and am currently working off of the hotspot on my phone.

Gas is a lifeline for us right now. We DO NOT need dog food. It will only get moldy in the heat and humidity. We have enough to get by for now.

I do have a list of things volunteers can do and I will post that in a little while with more specific instructions. But right now GASOLINE is what we need.

Thank you all so much for the donations. We are absolutely going to need them to get thru this crisis and to re-build. I will check with everyone later with more updates.

A LITTLE SNEAK PEEK INTO OUR MOVE

There seems to be some confusion as to where we are moving to, so I thought I'd post it again. Here is just a little look into the construction going on inside the new digs.

We are ONLY moving out of our old building and into this one pictured here. Yes we will still be renting, but it is a bigger facility and on slightly higher ground. IT IS IN NEW ORLEANS!!!

We are getting emails from those that are concerned about coming to visit us or volunteer and do not worry. This location is only "up the street" from our current location. So go ahead and book your flight, make travel arrangements, etc. We aren't straying too far from home 🙂

We have already begun the transition and hope to be moved in, within the next couple of months. We aren't giving out the address just yet but again....relax....even if you show up at the former building there will be somewhere to direct you over to the new one.

Looking forward to bigger and better things!
