As I wrap up 2023 and say goodbye to Ohana Time, I feel happy. The biggest emotion I feel is truly happy with what was, what is and what will be. This past year tested me and my normally hard shell into facing realities I wasn’t ready to face. A new norm in so many ways. My first full year without my mom, Pele being diagnosed with cancer and the realization that it was time to move on from Ohana Time. A LOT! lol But here we are, living and thriving. Good vibes going into 2024. Starting a new chapter and new career with Washoe County on the 2nd and I cannot be more excited for this opportunity with SJDC. Thank you to all our Ohana over the years. Evie & Nala have been with me since almost the beginning. They are probably my most consistent clients as I see them weekly. The days vary but it’s a given that I’d pop in at least once a week to say hi. This is probably my third time doing overnight care for them but it has been the longest. Mom went on a fantastic vacay November 17th, that included catching Taylor Swift in Brazil and will be home tomorrow night. These two will be out of control excited to see her! Thank you for being such great girls and for being one of my last overnight clients with Ohana Time!🐾🌺🤙🏽

Five years ago when I started this business I never imagined that I’d still be doing it all these years later. What a pleasure it has been and all the amazing animals and people who became Ohana. But like most books, it’s time to turn the page and start a new chapter of this crazy life of mine. When I started this, it was just Pele and me and now we’ve evolved into a family of six and a chihuahua!😂 We are blessed to have a family now and therefore requires more of me being present in their lives. Pele requires my presence more now than ever, too. December 31, 2023 I will be saying goodbye to Ohana Time and closing up shop. I’ve accepted a position with UNR and start later this month. I’m beyond excited to learn new skills as well as refresh the skills I already have but put on the back burner to pursue Ohana Time. Again, words cannot express my gratitude for what all of you brought to my life these past five years. Here’s to new beginnings and new opportunities for all of us!! PSA 🗣️ All weekly clients need to text me on Sundays confirming the upcoming week’s visits. I don’t care if we’ve discussed and agreed upon certain days, please text me so I can put it on my schedule and create my plan of attack for each day. I have clients all over and like to have a driving plan ahead of time. If you do not text me, I will not assume that we’re schedule and I will not go to your house. Super simple. Thank you🐾🌺🤙🏽

Ohana, I am fully booked for overnight care for the rest of the year minus two weeks mid December. I will be taking those two weeks off to be at home with my family and to devote some one-on-one time with Pele. I will still provide walks and drop-in visits but no overnight care.

Good morning Ohana and happy Friday.
I debated posting this to my business page but there are a lot of you who have been in my life for almost as long as this business has been up and running and who do not follow my personal pages. As well as knowing that if you reached out to me asking to post this to get help, I would cuz that’s what Ohana does.
I am in need of some help. As most of you know Pele has multiple myeloma. I thought I was being proactive in getting pet insurance before we even knew about it so when she was diagnosed I was relieved that I’d have help to pay for this. Unfortunately they have denied my claims stating that her issues previous to and during the waiting period can be considered symptoms of the cancer therefore making it a pre existing condition. They will not assist with any claims related to MM. I was not prepared to hear that news. I submitted an appeal with letters from both her primary vet and oncologist. This past Monday the claims adjuster again denied her with the same response- pre existing condition. ☹️
The worry and panic of this set in knowing that this already large bill will continue to rise with her treatment plan and the extremely hard decision to create a gofundme asking for help. It’s not something I’m good at to say the least, but I need some help. If you are able to donate even just $5, I’d be grateful. I know life is crazy for all of us right now and extra funds are scarce. I get it so anything you can give is appreciated beyond words. If donating through gofundme isn’t for you and you’d prefer to help another way, that’s great too. If you can share this, I’d appreciate that too. Let me introduce or reintroduced you to my best friend. This is Pele; named after the Hawaiian goddess of Fire. She is *10 years old and is full Sibe. She’s been by my side for 8 years this month. I owe a lot to this little beast. She is the keeper of my heart. If you look closely at my logo, you will see her profile along with mine. To put it mildly, she is my world. Pele was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma a little over a month ago and it has been some of the worst news I’ve ever received. Fortunately, it was caught early and we are on a treatment plan thanks to her Oncologist at in Roseville. With her medication, she is about 99% back to normal. We just took a road trip up to Boise to get some more memories in the books and spend time with her. All days are numbered but now it’s more true than ever. There will be times that I will need to take full days off to get her over the hill for labs and checkups to ensure that her immune system is staying strong and blood platelets are up. I will try to give enough of a heads-up and plan accordingly to not take away from your fur babes.🐾🌺🤙🏽Tish

🐾Price Increase for Overnight Care starting January 1, 2024🐾 🐶Overnight rate will be $125 a night for up to three animals. 🐱Each animal after will be $10 each.🐰All “extras” like medication, garbage collection, mail, watering gardens/plants will be included in the package.🐢Holidays will be $150 a night.🐠Check-In and Checkout times will remain the same. Check-In after 1pm. Checkout between 9am - 12pm 🗣️ I understand that for some this may be a huge price spike especially if you have one animal. Let me explain why I’m raising my prices. Most of you have been with me a long time and have continued to use my services. We have great relationships as well as I have wonderful relationships with your pets. I give a huge amount of my time when I do overnight care. You are getting more than nighttime sitting for your pets. I provide close to 24-hours of service for your pets when I look after them. I typically leave on average 4-5 hours daily during weekdays and maybe 1-3 hours on the weekends if I happen to have a scheduled walk or drop-in visit. When you break that down monetarily at $70/hour, it isn’t much, it equates to $2.92/hr. and if I left for 5 hours at most, it comes out to $3.68/hr. Even an 8-hour period at $70 is only $8.75/hr. This is my one source of income to support myself and family. No one can survive on that. New rate breakdown; $125 for 24-hrs is $5.20/hr.; at 19 hours is $6.58/hr. and at 8 hours $15.63/hr.

I was hesitant to up my prices but when the rate is broken down hourly, I realized what I was making. $125 hourly, is more than fair for my time. I hope that you do too. I hope that my time with you has proven that with the care I have provided for your pets as well as your homes.

I don’t want to lose any of you but if my prices are not in your pet care budget, I understand. I have consulted with other pet sitters in the area that I work with, and our prices are comparable to each other. This is a competitive business and I want to stay competitive and relevant with the other fantastic sitters in the area. Tish🐾🌺🤙🏽
