Pack walks are a great way to not only exercise your dogs but helps with staying neutral around other dogs while working on focus and obedience to keep those skills strong.

This is a great opportunity to be around other like minded owners and dogs enjoying each others company while working our dogs in a different environment, practicing obedience, enjoying new scenery and getting some beautiful Autumn photos of your dogs !

Calling all dog lovers! 🐕 On November 2nd, 2024, Breen Photo - Pet Photography and Robin's Nest Pet Care & K9 Training are teaming up for a special Pack Walk around the scenic lake at Minnewaska State Park Preserve, near New Paltz. We'll be walking the beautiful Carriage Road Loop, a 2-mile easy trail that takes you past rugged cliffs and breathtaking views—perfect for you and your pup to enjoy!

As summers continue to get warmer year-over-year, new research from the Penn Vet Working Dog Center (PVWDC) reveals the best way to prevent dogs from overheating.

After comparing various cooling methods, researchers found when a dog voluntarily submerged their head in clean, room-temperature water to retrieve a treat or toy, they not only cooled off faster, but also avoided dangerous post-exercise temperature spikes.

“During heat stress, blood flow to the head, nose, tongue, and ears is increased,” said Cynthia M. Otto, VMD, PhD, lead author of the study and executive director of the PVWDC. “Cooling the tissues of the head allows for rapid cooling of the whole body with limited amounts of water.”

People are saying this summer has been a blur!
But it’s not quite over yet!

We’re finishing up most of our Newbie Clinics and small group Coaching Sessions this week, and most private lessons. There is also rental time available. See out scheduler FMI

Next week (23rd) will be our closer for the season, with rentals open all week, but we will have instruction available Friday the 27th and Sunday the 29th.

Don’t wait till it’s too late to get your last splashes in for 2024!
The summers may whiz by but winters don’t! 😉

Sailor, owned by Heather Gaucho, was the top senior distance lap dog with a best of 12’ 6” and Beacon, owned by Jennifer Giordano, took the honors in the lap master division with a jump of 14’3”!

Sailor ALSO made his debut in Air Retrieve and was top lap dog with a jump of 6’!

Big kudos to the little guys with big hearts! ❤️

Thanks to everyone who shared the glorious weekend with us! The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and a relaxing atmosphere seemed to heighten the camaraderie of our closing event of this summer, which was actually the start of the 2025 NADD season.

Again we met many newcomers to the sport and our facility, and we were delighted to share in their journeys and successes. Many made new friends and learned more about this addictive sport by helping each other and trading dog stories. We also had a few observers and some try it’s for folks anxious to get their feet wet next season!

It’s always rewarding to hand out ribbons, whether for “personal bests” ( which were piling on more than ever!) or Basic, Advanced or Excellent titles. Once again we had exciting displays by newbies in Air Retrieve and speed demons in hydro- dash!

Kudos to all who participated, whether as a Novice or a seasoned competitor. We appreciate your company and love to see the bonds deepen with your dogs as you progress!

Our last event for the season is this weekend!
But it’s actually a head start for the 2025 NADD season, and an opportunity to start off the year at the top of your game!
We have AR tomorrow( Friday) at noon, and then Distance Jumps at 2 & 4. We kick off Saturday with another AR at 9, followed by 3 Distance Jumps at 11, 1 & 3.
Sunday we have DJ at 9, 11, & 1 , followed by a 3:00 Hydrodash.
We will be taking Day Of entries in all splashes, first come first served, till limits are reached!

Not sure if you’re ready to compete? Just get your NADD NUMBER and try it one splash at a time! It won’t bite!

Don’t miss out! You might add even add a Title this weekend!
