Everyday I see beautiful things because I am a rescue. But I also see some extremely terrible -awful, horrible things in rescue. I could write books about the good things! I could write VOLUMES about the bad things!But for my nextdoor neighbors I want to show you the beauty of love during the holiday seasons .Bunnies groom each other to show their love! This is Marshmallow….(he has a split in one of his ears)- he is 14! That’s like 100 yrs old for a bunny!And with him is his 5th wife…(Yes- he was widowed 4 times!)….Her name is Milky Way - and she had to undergo a massive surgery to remove an abcess the size of a tennis ball off her side! Bunny surgeries are Very expensive - because bunny hearts are fragile!!She is much younger but they are wonderfully in love! There are fascinating stories behind every bunny here at the rescue!She came from a petting zoo north of Santa Barbara- where all the other bunnies were beating up on her. (Hence the abcess). Someone finally took her and gave her away- and someone got her the surgery she needed and then I adopted her for Marshmallow ! At first she was terrified he would hurt her like the other bunnies did! She ran away or lunged at him! It took two weeks of sitting with them next to me before she felt she could trust him not to hurt her.But just look at them now!Amazing love! ♥️🐰🐰♥️

Walter and Susan are looking for a new home as their owner can no longer keep them. They need a home within 2-3 weeks or they may end up at the shelter-ugh!

Walter has been blind pretty much his whole life. Not due to cataract. Before he came to me, he had a bad ulcer that went untreated for a while and did not heal properly. It cause some scarring and edema on the surface of his left eye. He responds to light and I think he can see some shadows from that side.

I rescued Susan from the East Valley Animal Shelter in 2022
They both have two completely different personalities. Walter is actually a bit more curious, willing to venture out of places he his comfortable in. While Susan is a bit more reserved. I don’t know what her previous life was like. It takes some time for her to warm up but when she does she super sweet and loves to just get pet while sitting on your lap. She’s also a bit more vocal. I’ve never head a rabbit make noise before, let alone as much noise as she makes. She’s a little sassy in a cute way. She’ll grunt at any little inconvenience to her, if the hay isn’t being filled fast enough for her, if she doesn’t get enough pets. Neither of them like to be picked up. But do g grooming. Walter likes to hop around and run. Which makes me sad now cause the enclosure they are in doesn’t allow him to do that. Susan likes to just stick to areas she knows or has some type of towel or carpeting.

No health issues with either of them besides Walter’s eye issue. Susan recently also had an eye ulcer that’s being treated.
No teeth issues.
Never have been to vet for any GI issues.

That's so true! We are having a hard time to find homes for our gorgeous and sweet black and REW bunnies.

Please consider adopt an overlooked bunny. ❤

It is heartbreaking to hear that REW and black bunnies spend years or even their entire lives at shelters just because of their look.💔 Black bunnies have gorgeous shiny black coats and great personalities. They are playful, curious, smart, and fun.💗🤗💗
Ruby eyed white (REW) bunnies tend to be some of the sweetest, most gentle, laid-back, and most intelligent breeds of rabbits.🥰

I hope one day people will realize that, and more of them will open their heart and home to those sweet and amazing critters as well.💗🙏💗

Please don’t buy bunnies for kids at Easter or otherwise. Bunnies are not pets for children.
They need adult care !

About 80% of rabbits bought for Easter will die or be abandoned within the first year.
