Thank you to everyone who has donated money to help us care for Maverick! We'd hoped to have more of an update by now, but, unfortunately, we still don't know what the future holds for Mr. Maverick!
What we can say, though, is that the abscess appears to have closed back up again, and we are hopeful that it will stay this way!
In the meantime, we wanted to share this video of Maverick just being a sweet and curious boy!

Rebuilding a Mule's Trust
Rebuilding trust can be a looong and slow process, as foster Victoria Bruns Osmanovic can tell you better than anyone!
Clementine came to Triple R in 2021-- one 10 equines that came to us as part of a 260-animal, multi-organization seizure operation. Of the animals Triple R took in, Clementine was probably the most traumatized of the bunch.
She still won't let anyone touch her-- even to fix her halter! But, she will take treats out of Vicky's hand, which is definitely progress!
As slow as the progress is, we take comfort in knowing it's happening at Clementine's pace-- not ours-- and that each baby step brings her a little closer to the realization that she is safe and loved in the hands of her patient foster human!

Before she was a professional cow pony, Hope thought she might be a professional escape artist/ magician!
She was good at it, but it just wasn't for her!
Don Juan is using his “indoor voice” here, but if he were out in the desert and braying at full volume, his herd mates would be able to hear him up to 60 miles away!
Experts theorize that this is why donkeys bray and why they have such big ears!

Triple R has lots of success stories—horses who have gone on to their forever homes/families and are living the dream now! We love sharing these stories with you, and we’ll keep sharing them.
But for every successful adoption story Triple R has, there is one Forever Horse who is still being cared for by one of our amazing foster families.
