Chasing butterfly's. Rory's new found love.♥️
It's me, Rory again. I've been learning a lot this week. #46 of us were owner surrendered and we are all living a different life now, thanks to you! It's taking me, and most of us, time to learn that our new foster mom's and dad's want us to come to them and in the house. Hesitant about it, but I love the treats for getting close!! Once we get in we are loving it, the comfy beds, the soft blankets, the treats. Did I mention treats....nom nom..... #ItsAllAboutTheDogs
In October, 2016, Rusty (age 11) was surrendered to us because he was skin and bones with constant diarrhea. There was not an ounce of fat on his body and every single bone, including his hip bones stuck out noticeably. He had no energy. He was literally starving to death and had a voracious appetite. Thanks to the Rescue Angels, Rusty was given a second chance at life. After numerous tests, he was diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency ("EPI"). He needed Vitamin B12 injections and required enzymes added to his food so that his body could actually absorb the nutrients.
Rusty lived a wonderful, happy life (15 years old!), until recently, when his abdomen started filling up with fluid. His belly was tapped and they took 1 liter of fluid off him, but then the edema started everywhere else on his body. With tears, his foster family held him as he painlessly left this world for the next. We all know he's dancing now and can eat anything his heart desires without consequence. RIP Rusty, until we meet again!

Kate had Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery yesterday to repair her hip and is doing well. Her ball part of the left femur was not in the hip socket. They remove the ball part of the femar and part of the neck so it aligns into the socket. During healing, which usually takes two months, scar tissue will form in the joint to prevent rubbing of bone on bone. A "false joint" is then formed, which is pain free. The surrounding muscles also hold the hip in place. Her condition is suspected to be caused by Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease. See the x-ray in comment and you can see how bad it was. Thanks to you, she truly has a second chance! #100plus #ItsAllAboutTheDogs
