About Me

Thank you for visiting my page.

My name is Netty. I grew up in a small town in Germany with my 3 younger siblings. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in teaching I came to the U.S. as an Au Pair in 1999.

For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed being around and working with all kinds of animals.

As a student I was an intern in a small Zoo in Germany. I learned a lot about a variety of zoo animals, while taking care of their feeding, training, medical needs and habitat maintenance.

Over the years I got certified in Pet CPR & First Aid a few times and volunteered in local animal shelter’s training departments.

In 2009 I became a Certified Dog Trainer through Animal Behavior College. The course was about 1 year long and I gained a lot of knowledge in the dog training field, for example behavior modification, reading the dogs’ body language, training techniques, and much more.

While dipping into dog training, I also started my own Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Business. Netty’s Tail Waggin’ Pet Services took care of pets in the comfort of their own home from September 2009 to July 2018. My Team of up to 10 Pet Sitters and I visited on average about 120 homes a week.

My loyal dog Max has been by my side since I got him as a 10 weeks old pup in 2006. I think he enjoyed being out and about with all his pet sitting friends in our care. Now, at 12 years old, he enjoys his well deserved snoozes in the sun of our patio door, while I tackle the world mostly on my own these days.

I started working at a Pet Hospital in February of 2018. It has been a great educational opportunity for me. I very much enjoy being part of a team that helps pets and their owners through a difficult time to get their fur babies feeling better, or just making sure their pets stay well and have a healthy, long life.

I enjoy helping the doctors with routine exams, as well as being in the surgery room on a variety of different procedures.

Dog Training, and Animal Behavior and Care is such a big subject. My curiosity and learning never ends. And it gives me a lot of joy to be able to share my knowledge with other pet owners, in particular during dog training sessions.

Dog Training, in a way, is like teaching humans as well. We all learn at different speeds and have different ways of understanding something new. What may be a bullet-proof way to learn for one person, may not work for another. For dogs that is the same. They all have their own characteristics and quirks. So I find it helpful have have knowledge of a variety of training techniques to get your dog from point A to Z.

I find it challenging and most of all rewarding to be a dog trainer.
