Pipestone - Helping Farmers Helping Farmers Today Create the Farms of Tomorrow

A successful pig business operates at its highest profitability when Nutrition, Health, Management, and Business are working together correctly. The challenges and speed of business that independent producers face today are different than the generations before them. It’s our passion for animal care and drive to create the farms of tomorrow has led us to create new service offerings throughout the

years for pork producers. What started as a small town veterinary clinic in 1942, is now the largest swine veterinary clinic in the United States. Our world-class sow management company was formed in 1990 and today proudly manages over 70 sow farms for 450 family farmers across the Midwest. Production-driven research, nutrition, record keeping, and business services were all molded to support the independent family farmer and our mission of Helping Farmers Today Create the Farms of Tomorrow. Today, PIPESTONE is proudly helping over 1,500 pig farmers by providing resources and expertise in health, management, nutrition, research, and business.

Congratulations to Kim Lape on 15 years with PIPESTONE!

What is your current role, and what do you enjoy most about it? "I work on the Holdings Finance and FarmBooks teams. My favorite parts of my job includes working with my awesome coworkers, interacting with producers, and being able to give back to the community. At PIPESTONE, we aren’t just co-workers, we are family."

How has PIPESTONE changed since you started? "Wow - where do I start!? Since I started, we have added more vets, business units, and locations. When I joined PIPESTONE in 2009, we were a multi-species clinic; during that time, I even helped with a few dog c-sections! The biggest change has been the wealth of knowledge and resources we have brought in to help the farmer. PIPESTONE introduced me to two great mentors, Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Gordon Spronk. They instilled in me to not be afraid, to look for the answer, and to dig until I find it. Thanks to their encouragement I grew into who I am today and am not afraid to take the next step in my work and personal life."

In her free time, you can find Kim and her husband, Aaron, in their side-by-side with their pup or enjoying time with their granddaughters. If you're lucky, you might even find her singing karaoke!

Thank you, Kim!
