Perspective is the feeling I get returning from my Water Garden industry conference dubbed “Pondemonium” that I have now attended for over 21 years! A LOT of things happened and happens in 21 years….most notably…aging and the changing of the guard. 21 years ago I was one of the new “young Guns” eager for the Game..don’t get me wrong, I’m just as eager but wiser now too! With age, Should come wisdom..🤠 It was eye-opening to look around and see both the old Guard-looking as good as ever-but a very significant amount of new blood too…a sure sign of any healthy industry/endeavor is newer and younger people entering into it. The younger generation has a lot to offer and their interpretation and perspective is oftentimes so much better and unique! Mentoring and leaning into any of those young Guns willing to ask questions is just as important to the process..most importantly is the realization amongst our group of how much being “healthy” and able at ages 50+ is! Unfortunately we had 2 attendees in that age group who recently passed away with several others in the recent years past…Health is the New Wealth! We all got the message that being “the business” is not sustainable enough…we should be multi-layered in effort to expect the unexpected..as tomorrow is promised to no one. Lastly, at the close of our meeting, I was proud to witness our Tribe publicly “laying hands” and praying for others in our group, asking the Good Lord to watch o’er us! That my friends was worth every bit of blood, sweat and tears to get to this point of my work journey…the realization of an always Greater Higher power than ourselves and the Strength in numbers to prove it!….This Song is for those in our Tribe who have gotten there and all the rest of us who are on our way! I cannot wait to see the Great Water Feature in the sky! Until then…
