UPDATE: we have a sponsor for our sweet little black boy, now “Binx,” who keeps cleaning his sister’s eyes.

That leaves only one baby, our chubby black boy, without sponsor. Anyone?

——————————————————————

Mama Peaches and Daddy Smokey were abandoned outdoors and living outdoors for most of the summer where Peaches had and lost multiple litters of babies. When we rescued them, she was very pregnant and gave birth to 5 babies the very next day. All 5 babies are healthy and strong with the exception of some eye drainage and inflammation in the ears with two of the babies. Mama is also sneezing. A lot. So mama and two babies are on meds now and we are watching the other three babies. Daddy has been fine. We have two girls and three boys and are feeling blessed to already have 3 sponsors for the babies. We still need sponsors for our 2 black baby boys. $150 donation sponsors a baby and we let our sponsors name their sponsored baby! Mama and Daddy also need spay and neuter sponsors. Daddy’s neuter is scheduled for next Thursday already. Please comment below or DM us if you would like to sponsors a baby or parent bunny. It is also time to start lining up foster or foster to adopt homes. The current foster of this adorable Memphis family only has room for two xpens. In three weeks we need to separate all 5 babies and she will not have room to do that. Foster mom is also pregnant herself and expecting her first baby later in September. These babies are just the cutest and friendliest and so very loving! Apply online to foster or foster to adopt! Www.romeorabbitrescue.com.

More bunnies dumped. It’s never ending! These babies were rescued last week and brought to us over the weekend for intake. Both boys show signs of ear infections but they are otherwise eating and pooping well, sweet, cuddly, and affectionate. Of course! We believe they are about 4 months old. They will be available for adoption after they are neutered in October. We are hoping to raise funds for their neuters. $150 each. We hate to keep asking for donations but people keep dumping and we are neck deep in building renovation costs. Anything helps. Even $5! Thank you so much for your ongoing support of our rescue efforts!

These bunnies were found in the trash about a year ago. The person who found them, has been keeping them for the past year. Judging from the pictures, their living conditions are horrible; not a huge step up from the trash. 😕 Now their “rescuer” doesn’t want them anymore and they are once again at risk of abandonment. But we are significantly short on fosters and funds. We can only rescue them if suitable fosters can be found AND if we can raise at least $400 to put towards their care and spay surgeries. It is believed they are female. They have been living together so most likely bonded but we are not 100% sure. Please apply to foster “St. Clair Lops” at www.romeorabbitrescue.com. Indoor homes only. No cages.

Congratulations to Lenny and Shem on finding forever homes! These adorable boys were surrendered to us, but their surrendering owners continued to foster them until we could find forever homes, which did not take us long at all! Shem found a home with one of our volunteers and a hopeful bunwife, Penelope. Lenny found a home school family to lavish him with love and affection all day long! Since we are still operating 100% out of foster homes, we are really only able to take in surrenders if the surrendering family can continue to foster and is willing to take their bunnies to the vet for well checks since we won’t have the opportunity to vet them, as they move straight from surrendering home to adoptive home. This is what Lenny and Shem’s surrendering owners did to help facilitate the process and we are happy to help other families safely rehome their bunnies this way as well. We are still anticipating another 4-8 weeks before our rescue buildings will be ready to house rabbits.

Congrats Lenny and Shem and their new families!

And that’s a wrap! The last of our beautiful Bear family to be adopted found his forever home last night! And he was so content with his new Mama he was washing his face right in her lap! 😆 We are so happy for BunBun Bear and will also miss him dearly! We know he will be happy exploring every inch of his new free roam home! He always hated to be penned and would escape every chance he got! Now he doesn’t have to…where he’s going he will no doubt own the home! Love you sweet BunBun Bear. ♥️

It’s never ending. And it never gets easier. These bunnies were spotted in Wixom, likely hours after being dumped. All the babies were friendly, walking right up to people, allowing them to pick them up. Mama was a litter harder to catch, but persistence paid off for one of our previous adopters who managed to catch her. Abandoned domestic rabbits have zero chance of survival in the wild, outside of being rescued by humans. The rest will succumb to horrific deaths. This family comes to us only two weeks after rescuing our Memphis strays who had babies the day after being rescued. Now we suspect this mama is pregnant again and for the LAST time now that we have her. Her rescuer is temp fostering her but she is over an hour from us and we really need to find a foster home for her closer to Armada where I will be able to assist with newborn care when babies arrive. If you are within 15 miles of Armada, MI and willing and able to foster a pregnant Mama and her newborns, please submit a foster application on our website for “Mama MoMo.” We also need a foster family for one of the older babies, the third one pictured in the video is currently being fostered with her rescuer but the situation is far from ideal as there is a dog in the home with a strong prey drive who has killed small animals in the past. Additionally the family is allergic to bunnies. This baby’s name is Sevika and you can apply to foster her on our website at Www.RomeoRabbitRescue.com. Sevika, like the rest of her family, is super friendly, social, and affectionate. And we really need to get her into a home without a predatory dog. We are also accepting donations for their care and will be needing sponsors for all 5 rabbits. Mama MoMo, Jackie, Marilyn, Sevika, and our little one (NEED A LITTLE BOYS NAME - DROP SUGGESTIONS IN COMMENTS BELOW)!

Mama Peaches and Daddy Smokey have come a long way in the two weeks and two days we’ve had them! Mama has become so curious and affectionate and daddy is so playful and always reminding us to pay attention to him! ALL FIVE babies are happy and healthy! We were concerned about our little black baby in the beginning but he’s doing amazing! So chunky! Mama’s milk supply has been keeping up with the demands of her growing babies and we have not needed to assist feed or supplement at all this past week! Now that the babies are on the move, they are beginning to chow down on hay and pellets. We can really use some donations of alfalfa hay (our greatest need) and some oxbow essentials young rabbit food. Both are on our Amazon wishlist. As they become increasingly adventurous and playful they will also enjoy new toys and enrichment items they can chew on. Our Amazon wishlist link is in our bio. Items purchased from our wishlist get shipped directly to us. We are also accepting monetary donations for our young bun family of 7! Three of our babies have already found sponsors, leaving mom, dad, and two babies still needing sponsorship. If you are interested in sponsoring a spay or neuter for one of them, contact us to find out how to make your $150 sponsor donation. We let our sponsors name their sponsored baby. ♥️

Most rabbits get stressed out on car rides and so car rides should be limited to only when absolutely necessary. However, if you have a weirdo like Nadia, pack a pet stroller and let her tag along with you on your next errand. Not ALL rabbits hate outings!

* Please be sure you are reading your rabbits body language properly if you plan to take them out.

* enjoy the video! 😆

📣Calling all volunteers! This coming Saturday, August 9, we have a volunteer day scheduled in Armada to help move our pole barn towards being ready to house our rabbits. We will have some working outlets in both barns by the end of today and our electrician plans to have the front section of our pole barn wired by Saturday. We need volunteers somewhat skilled at hanging drywall for our pole barn project. We just need to drywall the front wall on Saturday. We also need to assemble a second DIY shed like the first and anyone able to follow writing instructions to assemble projects would be an huge help to us! Those are the two goals I have for Saturday. But we can’t achieve it without more people! We are way behind schedule with these barns due to challenges we’ve been having with the township. Our electrical work was paused for over a month!! But it all resumed over a week ago and should be finished in one more week, at which point our hvac company will come in and place the hvac in the pole barn. That will take about a week. So in two weeks we will have both electrical and hvac work completed. I’m trying to figure out if we need to hire the ceiling, window replacements, and door replacements done, or if we have the skill set and manpower among our volunteers to get it done ourselves. We have dumped so many thousands into permits and fees required by the township that I am hoping we will be able to complete the ceiling, windows, and door ourselves with enough volunteer help. If you own your own handyman or construction company and would like to volunteer your time to help us complete these projects, your company will be recognized as a corporate sponsor and we will continue to promote your company to show appreciation. We will be meeting at 9am in armada. Please comment below and/or pm us if you would like to attend.

Thank you!
