The first couple pictures are of Skinner pushing his way in for pets when I’m trying to give Leo some attention because, in case I failed to mention, Skinner owns me apparently! 😆 Then Skinner glued to me like always. Next we have a few cute brotherly love pics. And finally some updated pics of Skinner’s butt (with uncensored “parts” so maybe don’t swipe to the end if you don’t want to see that.) I have not worked on Skinner’s butt since day one. His skin and a**s and genitalia were all very swollen and sore and I decided to give him a break to heal. Everything is looking way better down there today. No more swelling! The urine scald on his legs has healed! So I will see if I can finish beautifying his fluffy bunny butt this coming week! The boys are active and happy and greet me with excitement and affection whenever I come around. Have I mentioned what a loving pair of bunnies they are?! Seriously, they will make a WORTHY family very lucky in the coming future! We also received the results of their f***l test and to my surprise it was NEGATIVE for parasites, which, honestly, doesn’t mean much to me because false negatives are ridiculously common! But I’ll take it for now, get through their current med regime, then most likely treat them for coccidia anyway since it’s the most common false negative we get. Just to be safe.

Keep following us for more updates on these boys and all our absolutely amazing bunnies!

Hey everyone, we are looking for a professional in the area of heating and cooling (particularly heating) who we can consult with before making our purchase. We are looking for a couple wall mountable portable heating units to provide heat for our bunnies in their temporary 1200 sq ft mostly insulated space. We want to make sure we make the safest purchase possible for our buns and would really appreciate talking to someone who knows more about heaters than we do.

If that is you, PM us please with your contact number. Thank you!

Leonard and Skinner just finished their vet appointment. They did really well. Skinner had a double ear infection and both boys have some eye discharge so we have ear drops and eye drops to add to their regimen. Skinner was battling some stasis his first couple days here but has been chowing down all day today. He is significantly bigger than Leonard but only weighs slightly more because he’s pretty malnourished. You can’t tell looking at him (cuz of his fluff) but to the touch he is quite spiney and boney). Skinner is the one who had the enormous f***l masses hanging from him. I was able to get most of that mess off the first night and am letting his tissue down there heal before attempting to get the rest off. But it’s already looking much better today than two nights ago. The areas where his urine scald were are also looking much better. I already had Skinner on Baytril, Meloxicam and metochlopramide (which I am now weening him off of because he is eating) We will start Leo on Baytril as well due to his eye drainage. We also left a f***l sample to see what sort of bugs we got swimming around in there so we can treat accordingly. Sweet Skinner is melting my heart. Every time I placed him in the center of the table for the doctor to examine, he ran behind my arm and rested his chin on me like you see in the picture. Like a toddler clinging to his mom! 🥹♥️

Congratulations to Sunny and her new bun mom, Vanessa! Sunny is the last of Mama Dutchie’s babies from either litter to be adopted. She was from her first litter and was 8 weeks old age she came to us. She is no doubt a pint sized therapy him and has been a nursing home favorite at our monthly Wellbridge of Romeo visits. Her amazing bedside manner earned her the job of going room to room for cuddles with bedbound residents. She is an absolute love and her new family is elated to have her! She free roamed in her foster home with and will continue to live a free roam life in her happily ever after home. Congrats Sunny, we love you and will miss you!

Please send prayers and well wishes today for brothers, Scotcheroo and Domino, as they undergo surgeries today to be neutered! Domino is in a FTA home and his adoption will be finalized after he has recovered. Scotcheroo is still with us despite several applications, and he will be available for adoption once he has recovered. Other recent neuters and spays include Turbo, our handsome Standard Rex who is every bit as much of a puppy bun as he is a therapy bun; Sir Floppy Bear (not pictured) and Virginia “Ginny” Bear, and Black Bear Faramir.

Turbo will be available for adoption once he has recovered, as will Ginny Bear and Faramir. Sir Floppy is already in his furever home and his adoption will be finalized soon! We believe Scotcheroo, Turbo, Virginia, and Faramir will all make great companion buns! Applications can be submitted through our website at www.romeorabbitrescue.com.

Look who was officially adopted yesterday! Our lovable Bear Family Trio (Mama Bear, Papa Bear, and Trowzee Bear) were adopted by a wonderful and experienced bun mama .rieper and her husband! They will have a large room of their own to free roam in with NO xpens! They will be well cared for and loved deeply for the rest of their lives. We are so happy for our Bear Family Trio. What a ride they have had. They so deserve this!

14/11/2024

Look who were happy to see me this morning! Skinner, was actually getting excited! Skinner is the bigger brother who had the massive p**p rocks attached to his butt. I spent nearly 2 hours working on him yesterday and was expecting him to be a bit scared of me this morning but nope! These boys are truly so loving, it’s amazing considering everything they’ve been through! I cannot believe (even though I’ve seen it countless times before) that humans could’ve neglected and abandoned them as horribly as they did. We have some pretty tiny p**ps so we will be working on motility with them. Little Leo (Leonard) is the smaller brother, also very sweet, is a bit more reserved than his brother, but not by much. Both boys were eager to put their heads down for pets this morning. They will be a wonderful pair of bunnies for a worthy family in the near future! Huge thanks to everyone who is sending in donations and thanks to Rosie’s Kitty Catfé for all your support! We really appreciate you!

We caved today and took in a couple of emergency rescues. We were contacted by a volunteer for Rosie’s Kitty Catfé as well as animal control regarding two Holland Lop bunnies who were dumped in Lenox just yesterday. They were rescued today and one of the poor boys had so much hardened f***s adhered to his butt it was as if he was dragging around a whole other bunny! His skin was scalded with urine and f***s, appearing red, sore, and nearly bloody in places. This is possibly the worst case of neglect I have seen yet since opening the rescue! Surprisingly, however, both (male) bunnies appear to be neutered! The video explains more and we will continue to update everyone as to their well being. An email has already been sent to Parkway vet to get them in to be seen. We are accepting donations to help with their care as we have been experiencing financial hardship for quite some time. Anything helps. 🙏🏻. Venmo & PayPal - . Cash App - $RomeoRabbitRescue. Zelle (586) 233-3129. Donations can also be called in directly to Parkway Small Animal & Exotic Vet on their behalf. Introducing Romeo Rabbit Rescue’s new trios!
Two of our beloved rabbit families have recently bonded themselves into trios. Both of these trips happened organically with no helped needed! I love the love they have for each other!

First, Mama Baguette’s three surviving babies, Digger, Stitch, and Raisin, (who were hand raised by rescue mama after Mama B’s milk would not come in) naturally bonded themselves through pens. This is a dream come true for us, especially considering our sweet Digger is a megacolon bun. Megacolon is a genetic condition that is often quite serious and progressive, drastically reducing a bunny’s lifespan. 😢 We lost three MC bunnies last spring to this dreadful condition. 😞 These sweet sibling floofs were a lot of work to keep alive in their first 6 weeks of life and when it was determined that Digger has MC, it was heart wrenching to think about his potential future and to know what to do with him as far as bonding goes. I remember thinking early on it would be ideal if all three sibs could bond as a trio. That way if, God forbid, Digger’s life is cut short, Raisin and Stitch would still have eachother. I didn’t actually expect it to happen and when it happened I felt such relief.

Second, we have our Bear Family Trio. These sweethearts have had a profound impact on our rescue and our followers. The community really rallied together when reports of two stray bunnies with missing body parts came in. We organized an emergency rescue and got them to safety just two days prior to Mama Bear giving birth to 9 beautiful babies right in front of our volunteers during bunny care hours! Mama Bear and Papa Bear were so friendly from the beginning. However, Mama’s health quickly declined and we almost lost her when her babies were just 7 days old! After multiple hospital and exotic vet visits, lots of testing and treatment, Mama Bear was finally given a clean bill of health and was able to be spayed. Trowzee Bear was the only shy baby of the litter and so she never found a home. Instead she stayed with Mama Bear and they shared an adjacent to Papa Bear until the time of Trowzee’s spay just two weeks ago. Normally we wait until 6-8 weeks post spay or neuter to begin bonding, but my gut told me this sweet family was already there. So just one week after Trowzee’s surgery I put them together to see what would happen and my intuition was correct. They already loved and trusted eachother enough to share space so Mama Bear, Papa Bear, and Baby Bear were reunited as an official trio. And even better, they already have a loving adoptive home waiting for them!

Sweet Biscotti (mini French lop) drew in much interest almost immediately after her surrender a couple months ago. She was surrendered because she was aggressive with the male bunny in the home. (Negative comments will be deleted. It broke her owner’s heart to surrender her.) We immediately begin promoting Biscotti for adoption but cautioned applicants that she has a history of aggression towards the male bunny she was meant to bond with. We have multiple applications, all wanting to bond her with another bunny. However, she was surrendered at the onset of our awful heatwave in August that caused us to have to evacuate all of our bunnies out of our capac location for three weeks. So Biscotti went to one of our volunteer’s homes. They were specifically looking for a female lop to bond with their RRR Alumni, Charlie (from mama Dutchie’s newborn litter). Biscotti was the only spayed and healthy female lop we had and her track record for bonding wasn’t the best. With the heat crisis, there was no time for bunny dating so our volunteer took her home hoping for the best. Now, if you know anything about bunnies and@bonding then you know it is almost always imperative that you let your bunny choose their own companion. The chance of a successful bond greatly increases when your bun has a say. So int he case of Biscotti and Charlie, the odds were way stacked against them. Charlie also has a sassy personality - sassiest of his litter. He didn’t get to meet and approve of Biscotti before hand. And Biscotti was surrendered for being unwilling to bond. And yet when it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be, and these two were meant to be. They bonded to eachother with almost no effort at all. Truly LAFS! Congratulations Biscotti for finding your forever home and to Charlie for finding the most adorable bunwife! We just love bonding success stories!

Wow it’s been over a week since our last post! Everything is fine, time just flies in a blink! We do have a few updates from the last week so we will start with JoJo (more posts to follow). JoJo was surrendered to us many months ago. He was the father of an accidental litter. His baby mama and babies went to and JoJo went on a waiting list (for several months) before coming to us. JoJo has just been the most loving, active, and cuddly boy and I honestly have no clue how he stuck around for as long as he did because his adoptability factor is through the roof! But, just like people, sometimes bunnies just need to be patient and wait for the right family to come along. Last Saturday, JoJo met a cute and friendly girl named Caramel. He was the fourth and last bunny caramel “dated” that day and the two seemed to have some good chemistry. JoJo went home with his new family on a foster to adopt agreement and has been living side by side with Caramel for a week of prebonding. Monday they will come back to us for a bonding/coaching session and hopefully they will bond nicely for their human who we will be coaching remotely afterwards. We have been offering progressional bonding services for a three years now and have helped many bunnies find their perfect match as well as helped many pairs learn the social skills necessary to be besties! Our bonding camp is labor intensive and costs can vary based on the needs of the bunnies but typically runs between a few to several hundred dollars. Our coaching program is more economical. It involves one in person bonding/coaching sessions and remote coaching thereafter. This program is a flat $125 HOWEVER, when you are adopting a companion bunny from us, the coaching program is included for no additional cost. We are 100% volunteer run so 100% of all moneys paid to RRR are considered charitable donations and go directly towards the care of the bunnies. We many more bunnies who would love to have a BBF and humans to dote on them!

Daisy Mae here to say “Night night, sleep tight, rest well cuz I’m feeling alright.” ♥️

Everyone loves this princess and I thought y’all would like to hear she’s been in “good” health and spirits lately. That is to say she is active, lively, attention seeking, affectionate, and an enthusiastic eater and champion p**per! Isn’t she beautiful, tilt and all?! 😍

CONGRATULATIONS recent adoptions and FTAs!
We are happy to share with our followers our recent adoption stories! Saturday, the two remaining Dutch babies from Mama Dutchie’s newborn litter found their home sweet home in a large 100% free roam home! Panda and Zebe were an insta-bond a few weeks ago and it makes me so happy that they were able to move to their new home together! Also on Saturday, the first of Mama and Papa Bear’s Bear babies, LeBun James, was officially adopted by a loving family who are being exited to embark on their new journey as bunny owners! Next, Mama Windy and Daddy Dusty’s black and white baby, Domino, from their first litter found his FTA furever home with one of our new volunteers, Lisa, who has been thoroughly spoiling our rescue bunnies lately! Finally, just today, the first two of Mama Sunshine and Daddy Magic’s babies found their home sweet home with one of our seasoned adopters, and have now joined several of our alumni buns!

I just realized as I’m typing this post that all of our recent adoptions are babies from several of our recent litters. Maybe after Sunshine and Magic’s babies find homes we will have a break from babies for a while. What do you think?

BTW - we still have a few Bear Family babies coming up for adoption as they are now undergoing their spays and neuters. We also have a couple of Windy and Dusty’s boys needing FTA homes as well as all 5 of Sunshine and Magic’s girls. Apply online at www.romeorabbitrescue.com.

Is there anyone who lives about midway between ROMEO and SOUTHFIELD who can help us get meds to Southfield THIS AFTERNOON? We are organizing a transportation train to get meds from Romeo to Ann Arbor by this evening. We have someone who can transport from Romeo to you (if you are midway between Romeo and Southfield). We need you to take the meds to Southfield by 3 or 4pm at the latest. Our Southfield person will transport to Ypsilanti and our AA person will pick up from her. We are almost there but need to fill the missing link. Comment or PM if you can help!

Congratulations to our sweet boy, Bullseye, who unexpectedly found a loving forever home with one of our new volunteers, Jenny. Jenny was approved to FTA one of our babies but on her first trip to Capac she picked up Bullseye to move him (to clean his pen) and he ran right up under her chin and whispered in her ear “you’re my new mom. Don’t let me go!” And that’s all it took! The two had an instant connection and she took him home the very same day. It was meant to be!

I could not be more thrilled about this considering our Ruby Eyed White (REW) bunnies often have the hardest time finding homes. Some people think their eyes look “creepy” but if people could only look past that, like Jenny did, they would see that our REW babies are some of the most loving bunnies imaginable. I hear that from everyone and have experienced it myself. If you want a gorgeous bunny, be prepared to sacrifice a loving bond and deep connection (in some cases). If you want a BBF (best bunny friend), don’t prioritize looks. Prioritize personality and you will one happy bum mom or dad!

Bullseye came to us at 4 weeks old when he was found in a live trap set by a resident of a Troy neighborhood after other residents let their rabbits free roam the whole neighborhood before disowning them. He was most likely born outside.

Congratulations Cheerio!! Cheerio was rescued as a stray many months ago and recently found a loving forever home with one of our volunteer families. Tonya and her son Tommy have been volunteering with us for a few months now, have sponsored three babies (Trowzee Bear from Mama and Papa Bear, Domino from Mama Windy and Daddy Dusty, and River from Mama Sunshine and Daddy Magic) as well as sponsoring our Suns Out Buns Out event over the summer! Tommy fell in love with Cheerio during their first visit to the rescue and finally took him home when we had our end of August heat wave. Congratulations to Cheerio and his new humans! And get well soon, Cheerio! Poor boy has recently developed an ear infection and is experiencing some mysterious hair loss. He is under veterinary care. ♥️

11/10/2024

THREE out of seven of Sunshine’s and Magic’s babies now have sponsors and therefore finally have names! We are still looking for spay sponsors for the remaining four girls. A spay or neuter sponsor is someone who makes a donation of $150 to cover (or almost cover) their sponsored bunny’s spay or neuter surgery when they’re old enough. Sponsors play a pivotal role in helping us to rescue and care for our bunnies. As a thank you, we allow our sponsors to name their sponsored bunnies. It’s always exciting to find out what their names will be when people start sponsoring. If you are able to sponsor one of these precious babies, comment or message us so we can make arrangements. They will be 7 weeks old on Sunday which means we have about one week to find four more sponsors. (People are welcome to sponsor beyond that timeframe but it has been our experience that if we don’t find sponsored by the time the babies are separated and sent out to foster homes at 8 weeks old, then we won’t every find them. So let’s see how many sponsors we can find this week!

If you are interested in fostering or fostering to adopt one of these cuties, you can fill out an application on our website. Now is the time. It takes us about a week to process applications so get them in this weekend and we should be able to get you approved in time to pick your baby up next weekend!
