I'm wondering if a video might help get this sweetheart into her forever home. Named Princess Leia by the person who saw her thrown out of a van, this girl certainly is ready for a loving home!! Contact Dogtown to arrange a meeting!!
Update: Brooks has found his new home!!
Introducing Brooks!! This video explains so much about this fellow, but I'll add additional descriptions. He's a 13 month old Golden Retriever, shots current, with a very solid start on training!! He knows how to walk well on a leash and can maintain a good heel position. He knows place, sit, down, come, leave it/ get it, uses a doggy door, will also ring bells to go out, loves riding in a car, shows no food aggression. He sleeps in a crate through the night without accident. He's very affectionate, smart and also very energetic. He is still very much a puppy and will need to have active structure in his world to thrive. Looking for a home where his training is understood and will be continued. He hasn't had a lot of socialization with dogs but it shouldn't be an issue. If you're interested in adopting Brooks please complete an application found on the website dogtownresortmiddlebury.com
If you have another dog we will be looking for veterinarian history and a similar level of training. He is fine with children; family is rehoming only because of an allergy issue that cannot be solved with continuing exposure to Brooks. You are welcome to text Carolyn at 574.849.8595 to let me know am application will be submitted.
Here are the two office dogs just visiting and playing while waiting for Darla's adoption.
Are you looking for a playful medium sized dog? This playful fellow is Patch, and he's ready to go home!! Come out to meet this friend and see if he's a match for you!!
This is Moon, a senior sweetheart still waiting for his forever home. Can we get this guy with a heart on his nose into a home before Valentines Day? That would be such a blessing for him!! Contact Dogtown to arrange a meet and greet!! Thank you!!
Evie is one month old today!!
Today three new cockapoos came into Dogtown- from the same litter as Cole and Caleb. They were playing outside so came in wet and dirty, but after baths and haircuts I'll post photos tomorrow.
But, my best surprise today was that little Evie now wags her tail!! Not sure why that makes me happy, but sharing just incase anyone else also likes these puppy updates. Hopefully not going too overboard about this little one!
Just sharing some puppy cuteness!!
This is Gator, a young Labrador Retriever, working on his focus with Brooklyn. Gator has a meet and greet scheduled Saturday afternoon, so fingers crossed that this fellow makes some new friends today!!
Taking the girls for a walk! If you're curious how a puppy with two medial fluxated patellas moves, just watch for the bouncing fluff ball! The older dog is Madison, one of my own dogs. The puppy is Leena, the Coton de Tulear rescue needing her forever home. She'll be 4 months old on Thursday!! It sure is a lovely evening for a walk!!
Just sharing a moment of my youngest dog Stanley playing with youngest cat Jonah. Stanley wasn't able to interest his other house dog friends to play tug with this toy, so he decided to explain the game to Jonah. They play like this frequently and both seem to enjoy it. Just sharing for those who may appreciate cats and dogs together!
Some of you may be wondering about Annie, a dog pulled from a pond in Bristol the last day of March. She was in very poor condition when she arrived, but with 3 days of emergency vet care possible with generous donations, she survived! Annie is gaining weight and doing well, a happy girl sincerely celebrating sunshine with a good roll in the grass!
Lots of fun and dog-friendly vendors hanging out at Oxbow! Come share in the play!!
Cora was playing on the floor at NIVES just like it was any other day, but this was the consult the day before she has her heart surgery! Many donated specifically for her care and we are so thankful to have gotten to this point in her journey. Corazon has a grade six heart murmur that can be repaired with surgery, and tomorrow is the day!! But for Cora, it was all about play today (watch for her hop!), and we turned her over to the experts knowing they will do everything possible to give her a wonderful future. There will be updates - surgery should happen in the morning Tuesday. Please send thoughts and prayers! Much appreciated!
Update: Rocky remains available!! Don't miss meeting this wonderful fluffy gentleman!
Rocky has a new friend! Little Bella (wearing her harness) came to Dogtown with her mom to meet a friend. And it sure seems like she and Rocky will be a fantastic pair. Their play kept us smiling as his adoption application was completed. Watch for an update soon!!
Please don't think that Annie is our only focus - we still have wonderful rescues who need homes without the critical care component Annie presents. However, since so many have made such generous donations, I want to share a quick video of Annie so you can see that she is improving. This is one of her many mini-meals; small amounts frequently to make sure she remains stable. She's more motivated about eating and drinking than last night. Progress!
Our Pomsky, Archie, was one of several dogs Bill and his wife Kim met this morning. We were using treats to determine how well Archie would respond to the" sit" command. As you can see, he nailed SIT, but wasn't too impressed with the treats!
This little rescue is Cooper, a very shy fellow who needs practice making new friends. Today Brooklyn was practicing with him walking on a leash. While still remaining within our play yards on leash, Cooper was nicely taking treats and complying with leash pressure moving around the yard. It's good to see him interested in learning and making progress.
This is Corazon, a super-cute distraction immediately beside my desk. Sometimes it's hard to get work done!! This is a special needs 12 week old puppy with a very serious heart murmur. Ratings 0-6, 6 is bad and that's Cora's number) We have an appointment for a cardiac specialist consult and echocardiogram on March 20, so we know more about her problem and possible avenues moving forward.
The exam will be $549 - if you'd like to contribute toward that expense there is a link to our Venmo account on the website, dogtownresortmiddlebury.com
You can comment that it is a donation for Cora's exam and care. I'll update this page... thank you for your interest!
