Letting your dog have an outlet to chase & catch prey is necessary
I believe this is why there are so many behavioral dogs because pet dog owners haven’t understood exactly what their dogs need to live a fulfilled life

While some pet owners see crate training as a cruel way of containing a pet, nothing could be farther from the truth. Crate training should be an important part of your pet's daily routine. Here are a few reasons why crate training is so important and what your groomer needs you to know:

1. Crate training should begin as soon as your pup is brought to their new home. A great breeder will have already begun accustoming to a crate giving you a head start.
2. You must be firm. Your pup may cry or bark but this is no reason to give in. Reward good behavior and your pup will catch on quickly.
3. Your pet's crate is their safety zone. Others should not be allowed to interfere within a pet's safety zone. The crate should be a comfortable/safe place to eat and/or sleep without the stress of interference.
4. Crates should never be used for punishment. Doing so will cause your pet to fear the crate making proper training difficult.
5. There will be times your pet needs to be crated...such as the veterinarian clinic and grooming salons. If your pet is not comfortable in a crate, this can cause unnecessary stress
6. Many pets have survived car crashes when crated. You may think your pet is happier out of the crate, but like children they cannot make decisions in their best interest. As responsible owners, keeping your pet in a crate while traveling helps ensure their safety in the event of a crash.

Taking the time to crate train your pet is beneficial for you, your pet, and your professional groomer. Talk to your professional groomer about crate training tips for your pet.

Everyone say hello 👋🏽 to Sweetie
I was very happy when her human decided to sign her up for her board & train stay especially after working with her previously for individual sessions I knew she actually needed it
Dogs who struggle with behavioral issues such as fear, anxiety, reactivity or aggression almost always need a board & train stay to see a change in their behavior and overall confidence especially if the humans can not be committed to daily training due to their schedules.
When she first checked in she was struggling
Lots of anxiety & no motivation to do much
Today Sweetie has shown much improvement. From this morning when I woke to let her out her crate for a potty break , to our morning session and by afternoon she was much more relaxed , less anxiety & her facial expressions were completely different
Which tells me she’s starting to feel better internally & beginning to enjoy the process

This is Thor
He’s such an adorable dog
Sadly his confidence is pretty low
After todays session we had a major breakthrough, I was so proud to witness the shift in him
A lot of ppl think obedience training is everything when owning a dog when in actuality it’s more about boosting their confidence & encouraging them when they are unsure, not catering to the anxiety or fear that will never help them
You are actually doing more damage to their mental state

Today December 23
is a day I’ll always hold dear to my heart
Today Anya celebrates her 11th birthday in Heaven.
It’s taken me a long time to try & accept the fact that she is no longer here with me & my family.
Many days I cry missing her
I still call her name or tell myself I have to feed her.
I never knew the impact she’d have on my life
I would of never knew when we picked her up February 2010 that years later I would find my purpose because of her.
When she was a young pup she hurt herself & had to have a splint on for awhile which caused her to rest a lot & be crated
that injury affected her socialization &puppy training which is very crucial for all young puppies
She grew up being highly reactive to everyone & all moving objects
I was frustrated not being able to walk her or take her to the front yard or take her on car rides with us
We paid for 6 sessions with a trainer who later suggested that we find her a new home
he felt like she was too unpredictable
But we weren’t comfortable with that we knew it was our duty to do all we could to turn our situation around with her
Anya’s breeder Tamara
told us about James Powell who was training with James Steward
We went in for our evaluation &signed up for 3 months of training
There I learned how to effectively communicate to her & motivate her
the progress that we had was amazing
Finally we could start enjoying her outside of our home.
When the 3 months was finished I didn’t want to stop so I spoke with both James about continuing, I was prepared to pay more just to be able to continue to learn more but they had something different in mind they offered me to stay so they could mentor me, I was so excited I showed up 3xs a week driving 45 minutes each way for years
I started working with their clients dogs & dogs that were turned over by police departments &dogs of owners that were surrendered
Anya was the first dog in my life that was purchased as a puppy , she spent her life with myself &family loving us & protecting us
I will make sure her legacy lives on forever
I Love You Anya, not only are you in my heart forever
you’re still with me everywhere I go 🐾🐾💞
my Luv 🐾🐾💞💞

Sunny is my recent board & train student
This little guy was a nervous wreck when he was outside
Like most dogs that don’t get enough exposure to the outside world they grow up extremely fearful
His nerves were so bad he’d feel sick and not eat, fear took over to where he wouldn’t have an appetite
He would pull trying to get back inside
He would freeze anytime a loud car or big truck drove past during our walk
He would keep his nose to the ground leading the walk, anytime he heard any neighborhood dog bark or my own he would give off low barks (insecurity)
I had to slowly build his confidence up to get anywhere teaching obedience behaviors
He now walks nicely on the leash
He now understands what sit, down & what it means when his name is called
I’m proud of his progress and boosted confidence
I’m excited to see how he continues to improve once he returns home

Our Story

I often get asked how I became a dog trainer. After struggling with my own dog Anya & waiting entrely too long to seek help, thinking she would just grow out of it, it all became very overwhelming & frustraing for me. After attempting to train her on my own, we then started working with our 1st professional trainer, at this time Anya was 2 yrs old, he suggested to me I “get rid of her” he felt she was too unpredictabl, after hearing his suggestion to re-home her I started searching for another trainer

I’m so thankful I did.

Anya & I attended training twice a week for 3 months training with James Powell &

James Stewartwe received our completion certificate, however I continued to shadow them for years, I was dedicated to learning as much as I possibly could . I went from not being able to handle her properly in the outside world to be able to take her on bike rides, parks & enjoyable calm walks.
