Hey, I get it, I want to take my dogs with me everywhere I go too! Bo goes to dog friendly stores occassionally. I can take Bo because he enjoys it and has good manners. He has gone to dog friendly public places since he was a pup. My other 2 boys, Angus and Peanut, would not enjoy this. It would not be a pleasant experiance for me or them, so I don't do it. They prefer wide open spaces to run and sniff, so that's what they get. Just because I want my dogs to enjoy something doesn't mean that they will. If your dog won't enjoy it, you won't either. Trust me when I say your dog would rather stay home than be made to endure something that makes them anxious or stresses them! Defer to your dog's preference!

Sometimes circumstances change your plans and it can be such a pleasant surprise for your dog.It wasn't the walk I had planned, but the boys had a nice 60 minute walk/sniffari and then we ended with a 20 minute digging session in the garden. They were excited and it was a great enrichment activity for them. They are now taking a well deserved nap!

Enrichment is enrichment, right. This was Angus's 4th turn at the Find It game. Obviously he preferred to play with a box. Bo was more than happy to Find It! It was a win, win!
Training should be fun!
I took my friend Twinkle Toes the Adoptable Dog (she is available for adoption from CompAnimals Pet Rescue in Landenberg, Pa) for a walk and some Canine Enrichment today! Twinks loves scent work so the Find It game with boxes is right up her alley!

Patience and repetition payoff! I have been training Angus next to the truck and inside it for months. He will now happily "load up"!

Progressing muzzle training with Angus, he will now offer to put his snout into the muzzle and eat treats out of it!
Slow and steady for conditioning him to accept the muzzle!
I was able to get Twinkle Toes the Adoptable Dog out for an early morning shelter break today! She is a great running partner, she will settle into my pace and slow down if I ask her to. Twinks is also a super awesome rider in vehicles! We also work on honing her life skills on these outings so she will be a well behaved member of her forever family! Twinks is still looking for her family, if interested, contact CompAnimals Pet Rescue or me for more info on this wonderful dog. Feel free to share this post so she gets maximum exposure!
