Nala and Hines are leaping for joy on Leap Day since they get an extra day to play in the snow! 🐾

But did you know Leap Days are nature's way of helping us keep our schedules in sync with the stars? ✨

That's because Earth's orbit around the sun actually takes 365 days and about 6 hours, not a perfect multiple of days, which leads to adding a leap day every four years to keep the calendar aligned with Earth's orbit. 🌎

It's like hitting the reset button to ensure that spring continues to bloom in March, not drifting into April or May over the centuries. So, every four years, we get an extra 24 hours to ensure our calendars stay in harmony with Earth's journey around the sun. ☀️

The K9 Top Coat Journey

We believe passionately that pups are one of life’s greatest gifts and should always live their best life. That means playing in the snow without their fur collecting snowballs. It means rolling around in the grass with furry friends at the dog park without worrying about allergies. It means going on winter walks with your pawrents and staying warm and dry. It means so many things to us and it all started with a simple idea.

In 1999, our Founders adopted a beautiful German Shepherd and he was instantly part of the family. As most with most Shepherds, his hair could be found all around their home (on furniture, clothes, the car, etc). After some jokes about wrapping their pup in cellophane, the family came up with an innovative solution: a bodysuit that would reduce unwanted shedding.

Fast forward to today and there are plenty of imitators who claim to be the first or the best to design a bodysuit for pups. But then there’s K9 Top Coat. What started as a solution for shedding quickly evolved into much more. Over the years and after much feedback from veterinarians and customers from around the world, we realized the vast amount of solutions our suit provides. From a pup who can explore the world for the first time in years without having to worry about an allergy flair up to protecting a beloved family pet with a history of skin cancer, we’ve heard many stories over the years about the ways our suits have improved the quality of life of so many pets. In addition to these reasons, veterinarians also appreciate the ability to use our suits for post-surgery recovery as an alternative to wearing the e-collar (commonly known as the “cone of shame”).

Our passion to help pups lives in every bodysuit we create and our 20 years of experience and happy customers (both humans and pups) speak for us. Our K9 family has grown over the years and we’re so excited to continue to welcome new pups and their pawrents to our family every day.
