Dangers of Lithium batteries: These rechargeable batteries are in just about all of our daily devices; cell phones and laptops, home appliances, power tools, childrens toys, our cars, etc.
At the beginning and near the end of my Engineering career I worked Contract positions with lithium battery manufacturers. Lithium is a element that reacts with water and oxygen (air) and requires special handling and disposal methods. Even in a Professional Manufacturing environment accidents happen!! These fires cannot be put out by normal water or home fire extinguisher methods .. educate yourself and stay alert to any danger signs such as bulging batteries, corrosion smoke, sparks or flames and learn how to isolate the area or item and call 911 to report and request help. Be safe!
