Our wonderful dogs—they are just like us! They get scared, worried, startled, and can even suffer from PTSD. In addition to common causes like loud noises (fireworks, thunderstorms, etc.) and being left alone, underlying medical conditions and age can also contribute to anxiety in cats and dogs.

Pet anxiety can take many forms including shaking, hiding, aggression, destructive behavior, constant barking/meowing, or other compulsive behaviors. And it can be distressing for us pet parents to watch them struggle. But the good news is, there are steps we can take to help them find peace and tranquility.

If you notice any reoccurring signs of anxiety in your pet, connect with your vets. Let’s work together to keep our buddies calm and happy! (This excerpted from Laurelwood Veterinary Hospital.)
