Found dogs‼️
These two dogs were found off of Anderson Road near Lone Lake this morning. They are the size of golden retrievers and similar coat but more of a white color. Possible they are Pyrenees. If you hear of anybody looking for them, they can get in touch with me at this email address ([email protected]) or the phone number 360-969-0181. The dogs are currently in an outdoor kennel at my house on Anderson Road. They both have colors but no tags.

We ask for your patience and grace as we navigate the last few days of the holiday season. Due to family vacations, injuries, and other PTO, we very limited team members in place. Each one has been doing the work of at least two for the past few weeks, and while I think they are superheroes, they are still humans with bodies that tire and feelings that are hurt by unkind words.

We still want to provide you with the best quality care, but it might take us a bit longer to do so. We are as anxious as you to have our entire team back in the clinic, working diligently to see to the needs of the island's furry family members. UBAC will return to full staffing after the first of the year and will be providing improved service with our brand-new software. Until then, we appreciate your understanding and kindness.

We've been getting many questions about the recent canine respiratory disease being reported. Up until recently, there were no confirmed cases in WA state. Today the WSVMA provided an update stating two confirmed cases of what Washington considers to be atypical Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex. Fourteen other cases have been submitted that are pending review. Two were reported from Island County. We will continue to post updates as we receive more information. The two confirmed cases in Washington (one in Snohomish and the other in Clark county) are recovering.

Keep up with interesting news and insights in the world of Washington agriculture.

DISEASE ALERT: While we have not seen any cases in Washington state, we want our clients and their beloved dogs to be aware of this recent illness, especially those of you who show, compete in dog sports or engage in other activities that place your dog into the company of others. Consider scheduling booster vaccinations for Bordetella and Influenza if your dog is not current. Unfortunately, we don’t know if these vaccines will decrease the potential of this particular infection as it is still not clear what organism is causing the disease, but if it can give our dogs a leg up, we’d like to have them aboard.

STATE VETERINARIAN URGES VIGILANCE IN PROTECTING ‘MAN’S BEST FRIEND’
Unidentified Canine Illness Sparks Nationwide Concern - No Cases Reported in Washington state

With recent reports of an unidentified canine illness increasing across the nation, the Washington State Veterinarian is encouraging dog owners to be vigilant to keep their animals safe and healthy. There have been no reports of this unknown illness in Washington state as of today, Washington State Veterinarian Dr. Amber Itle said.

“We have not received any official reports from veterinarians nor any laboratory confirmations of this respiratory infection,” Dr. Itle added. Dr. Itle encourages veterinarians to report high morbidity or mortality events in dogs – or other animals - through the WSDA online reporting tool.

This is the time of year that dogs tend to get respiratory illnesses, so it's important for pet owners to take extra precautions. Veterinarians advise in keeping your pets vaccinated and away from areas where dogs congregate. There may be additional vaccines that may be recommended by your veterinarian if you must have your dog in a congregate setting.

Veterinarians across the nation have been seeing unknown respiratory illnesses in canines and the animals do not respond to the treatments typically administered for a known diagnosis. However, experts have not seen cases of transmission of this illness to humans.

“The best way to protect your animals is to ensure they are up to date on their vaccinations," Dr. Itle added. “By working together, we can stay ahead of any potential outbreaks and keep our furry companions healthy and happy.”
