With the warmest summer months upon us we wanted to send a reminder about equine anhidrosis. Anhidrosis is the absence of adequate amount of sweat in response to an increase in body temperature. In the past, treatment meant sending the horse to a cooler climate, but there are now many options.

🐴 A product of the beautiful Dutch Warmblood mare Oceana and the amazing famous stallion Glamourdale, her gaits are already spectacular to watch and it’s clear the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with this one. 🐴

🐴 We have a special client spotlight for you today. A wonderful and super cute patient as well as a reminder of the wonders of acupuncture. 🐴

This is Andre. He is a hunter pony who is getting a maintenance exam after an intense winter show circuit that taxed his immune system. His immune system suffered for it, so Dr. Francheville did an immune system acupuncture point injection treatment on him, and this was the recheck diagnostic acupuncture point scan to ensure that his immune system had resolved. It did - the single treatment was all he needed.

❤️ His immune system was suffering, which would have left him open to infection and developing immune system disease. Just one treatment returned his defenses and brought him to back overall wellness. This is one of the reasons this barn has her come regularly to do maintenance and preventative scans. ❤️

Let’s kick off the long weekend by sharing these adorable pictures of our newest and most surprise patient, Pearl.

Having had mom for over 14 months, the owners had no idea that she was pregnant but awoke to this delightfully adorable, cuddly, big-eared surprise. Pearl, we don’t think you’ll ever grow into your ears and we certainly hope you won’t!

Today - Canada Day (July 1st) - marks our four year anniversary at our Canadian practice. Dr. Francheville has a very busy summer of appointments booked but has a few free spots here and there, so please reach out if you’d like to see her.

For everyone celebrating this weekend, both north and south of the border, have a very happy and safe Canada Day and 4th of July!

Many of you have been asking about Handsome’s (who we wrote about a little while ago) progress and we are very happy to report that treatment with Chinese herbs and acupuncture got him to a level of comfort to where he did not require to have the deep digital flexor tendon salvage surgery. Thanks to acupuncture, Chinese herbs, special shoeing, and many of your well wishes, he should live a long, normal and happy life.

His story and condition, laminitis, for which we’ve been treating him, have inspired us to write an article about it.
