How to put the Transitional Leash on your dog 🐶 This can be a great tool to use for some dogs, however you do need to condition your dog to wearing it and still them leash skills. You still don’t want your dog pulling against the transitional leash. - Start with a slip leash and safety ring attached to ring on slip leash - Put on the slip leash and attach the safety to your dogs collar. - Slide the lock back on the leash and extend the leash under your dogs chin to form a large loop. -Turn the loop into a figure 8 and slide it over your dogs nose. - Slide the lock back down (but not too tight) - Start buy feeding your dogs treats with it on. -Next start taking a step backward and reward with a treat - Repeat this until your dog is comfortable walking with the transitional on. Only use this tool while you are actively working your dog. #transitionalleash #dogtrainingtool #dogtrainers #dogsofnebraska #dogsoflondon #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingtools #slipleash #reactivedog #reactivedogtraining #dogtrainerslife #dogmum #dogmumlife
A healthy snack or chew for your dog 🐇
Rabbit ears are highly nutritious for dogs and are high in protein which is excellent for maintaining healthy muscles, hair and skin. The fur in hairy rabbit ears binds with undigested food, firming up stools and leaving the intestines free to absorb more nutrients. They also help to clean your dogs teeth and get rid of buildup.
You can safely give your dog a rabbits ear two or three times a week. These make a great alternative to more processed dog chews/ treats.
Shopping trip with my dog @johnlewis 🛍️ If you want to be able to take your dog out to dog friendly stores practice these things 🐶 loose leash walk - nobody wants to be dragged around the store. 🐶neutrality - being neutral to other people and dogs is key🐶 sit/ wait - this is helpful when you are looking at things or paying for your items. 🐶 using the elevator - this is the best way to get between floors. Most dogs are not allowed on escalators. 🐶 confidence - busy public spaces can be overwhelming for some dogs. Start in less busy areas and smaller shops before venturing into bigger stores. Gracie 🐶 and Georgie 🐈
Gracie is learning how to co exist with Georgie the cat. Most people try to rush interactions with other animals but slow introductions and teaching your dog expectations is important. We don’t need Gracie to be best friends with the cat but we need to teach her to respect the cats space. Gracie also had very high prey drive and her family wanted to ensure her and the cat could live together safely.
Here you can see that Gracie is very relaxed even with with Georgie being close by 🙌🏼
