A glimpse into one of our daily power hours! 🐾
One of our favorite parts of these times of day is that we get to see the dogs make big shifts in short periods of time.
In our “power hours” we run them, train them, potty them, love on them, play with them and have so much fun!

Focus on not focusing
The beginning stages of learning how to ignore unwanted behaviors is a tough one.
It’s especially difficult when those behaviors are nipping, jumping & whining.
Allowing your mind to be occupied with another activity can be helpful in the beginning.
Like any other skill, the more you practice, the better you get. The better you get, the stronger your relationship!
“…feels like he’s more a part of the family than ever!”
Miranda and Archie, the three legged dog, came to us after already doing plenty YouTube research and podcast listening.
They had the tools but wanted some more guidance!
Fast forward a few months and here we are!
It’s amazing to see the progress they’ve made through hard work and dedication to the process!
Many people would spend their time feeling sorry for Archie and his missing leg, but his family decided it would be in everyone’s best interest to give him the best life possible!
Keep it up 😁🐶

@theisabelbrown is super excited about her Corgi @libertyandcorgisforall progress!
Time for them to stick to the drills at home and maintain training at group classes!
Good job you two, can’t wait to see you in class!

Getting ready to cruise through another week!
Working on improving yourself and your dog tends to be quite difficult. However, when your focus is on building on the fundamentals, things tend to fall into “place”! 😁
Discipline Equals Freedom
When people think of spoiling their dog, it usually means endless amounts of toys, food and affection.
When I think about spoiling dogs, it means just the right amount of discipline for them to be able to safely enjoy freedom in the real world!
If you want the best relationship possible with your dog, communicate clearly, connect to the dog world, and then give the love we humans love to give so much! 🐶🥰
If it’s worth achieving, it’s probably also worth maintaining!
Have you ever been so proud of yourself for learning a new skill, only to try it a few years down the road and realize you can’t do it as well anymore?
If you need CPR, would you rather have a person who did one CPR class a few years ago, or someone who practices once a month?
Things that take time and training to learn, require practice to be maintained. If you want good habits to stick, you’ve gotta keep at it, or else it just becomes a phase!
Break it down 🧩
.
Triggers are everywhere for us and our dogs. Sometimes we notice them, but often times we don’t!
When you become more aware of what triggers you and your dog respond to, you can begin to live a more fulfilled life!
Start to PAY attention to the small steps in between the big ones, it makes all the difference! 🧐
Advanced Basics 🎉
.
Today’s group class was full of dogs that have mastered the basics, so, we added some difficulty and had everyone doing recall at the same time!
.
Think your dog could handle it?
Stay Focused 🧐
.
Sometimes all we need to get focus is just a tiny bit of movement.
.
The key is understanding the cues that our dogs give us that mean they’re losing focus, or back into focus.
.
Little things matter, big things matter, everything matters!
Do you prime your dog to succeed?
.
Often times we wonder why our dogs are pulling on the walk and we forget how much WE excite them before the walk even begins!
.
If you’re setting your dog up to be excited for a walk, or for grandma coming over, chances are they’re pulling or jumping!
.
Prime your dog to be more calm and relaxed until calm and relaxed for a less stressful experience. 🧘♀️🧘♂️
.
Remember, our dogs react to our energy, so make sure to set a tone that you promotes calm & relaxed over stressed & excitable! 😁
Energy & Focus 🧘♂️
.
Sometimes we are too quick to get involved in things that don’t need our attention.
.
Allowing our pups to work through some behaviors without paying them any mind will allow them overcome these behaviors on their own.
.
Often times dogs and people do things because they’re rewarded with attention, they aren’t picky about the type of attention! 😂
.
Take advantage of these attempts at attention grabbing behavior (that happen in our mind as well!) by simply letting them pass by, and feel the peace that comes along with that!
.
Less is more.
Impulse Control 🐶
.
There are so many triggers out in the real world that are going to tempt your dog to lose focus.
.
Working on your dog’s impulse control will pay dividends in the real world with 🐦, 🐿, 🐇, and neighbors!
.
Don’t expect your dog to keep focused in the real world when you haven’t created your own set of distractions.
.
Train, test, then repeat!
Set the Pace 🏃♂️🐕
.
One of the most common things I work with is a dog who is pulling or lunging.
.
While there are many ways to address pullers, I find this to be a great place to start for any dog!
.
Constantly changing the direction you’re moving will keep your pup on their toes and teach them to find a position that is comfortable for them.
.
When you encourage your dog to make their owne decisions, those decisions eventually become habits!
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the journey 🙏
How’s your timing?
.
Timing while training is one of the most important things to consider.
.
It’s even more important when using food with a very food motivated pup!
.
Make sure you’re not unintentionally rewarding the wrong behavior! 🐶
