This is what is going on for the remainder of the holiday shopping season with Tar Heel Ants:
(A BIG HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!)
Today- We will be shipping the last round of our current orders that we have completed, if you are one of these folks waiting on an order for the holidays and have not received tracking emails today should be your day! There is always a small number of later orders that we could not fulfill due to the time it takes to make the products ordered, so if this is your situation we are still working on these orders and will get them out as soon as possible after the holidays. Feel free to call 919-348-3642 with any questions.
For anyone still needing an order:
We can still get things out to you no matter where you are in the U.S. , but the shipping options are going to vary by location. We have some stock just coming available of Fallen Fortress(8)-medium species, Mini Labyrinth(6), Bifurcated Mini Hearths(30), Hearths (full size)x15, and Inception Chambersx15, Aerie(6). We are taking photos of these soon and getting them on the website for ordering on the Ready To Ship pages this week. If you need gifts to ship out in the next couple of days, this is the post office schedule we are following: States in our region of the U.S., including Virginia, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina we can still use UPS Ground and USPS Priority to get orders to you quickly in 1-2 days using standard shipping. A little further out from North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Alabama, Ohio, Texas etc. we can use USPS Priority Mail shipping and still have packages arrive before Christmas (according to UPS and USPS) if they are ordered and shipped by Wednesday OR Express/Overnight up until Thursday. For the states further away on the west coast and midwest states, Priority Mail through the USPS or 2nd day air for UPS should have packages arrive if they are ordered and shipped on Wednesday. After Wednesday Express or Overnight should be possible as late as Friday (this is running a risk of them not arriving in time, though).
Call us and make an appointment if you are local to Raleigh, North Carolina. We have a few time slots available for appointments left this week, mainly in the late afternoon and early evenings but I am willing to be flexible on the times if needed! 919-348 -3642.

This is an older blog article, short, but also helps explain how to place an order and the times you may expect to wait. We typically can get orders out quickly by emailing or calling us first, and inquiring on which formicaria are ready to ship and how to ensure those are ordered with a package including ants.

I was feeding Formica subsericea colonies last evening, and noticed a lot more larvae and pupae (10-15 in many) than I am used to seeing in October! So, for anyone considering getting into the hobby or adding on a new colony to their collection, the Formica subsericea colonies on our Ants For Sale page are in prime condition! They will see a lot of growth between now and their winter rest period.

For those in need of larger supplies of Fluon (aka PTFE 30, aka Insect-O-Slip, etc.), I have finally worked out larger bottle sizes. 16 oz. and 1 gallon sizes have been added to the website.

The fluon from www.tarheelants.com is pre-mixed with water. This mixture is our recommended solution.
