Who can relate!?!! All that practicing we did at home!?!? Got me out here looking crazy 😂😂😂😂 #dogowner #dogtraining #doglover #dogs #petparent #furmom
Dogs are super good at picking up on things we don’t even notice. They can sense when we’re feeling scared, nervous, or even just a bit off. And guess what? They can react to that!
Here’s how it works:
Body language: Dogs can tell if we’re acting all stiff, making sudden moves, or seem really tense. When they see that, they might think something’s wrong or dangerous, and they might start barking or growling.
Smells: Dogs have an amazing sense of smell. They can even detect the different smells our bodies give off when we’re feeling worried or stressed. So if we’re feeling anxious, our smell might change a bit, and dogs can sense that. It might make them feel like there’s something bad going on and make them react.
Special chemicals: We release these special chemicals called pheromones when we’re scared or upset. Dogs can actually smell them too! So if we’re feeling scared, our pheromone levels might change, and dogs can pick up on that. It could make them think there’s a reason to be on high alert and act defensively.
Heartbeat: Dogs can even hear changes in our heartbeat. When we’re scared, our heart beats faster. Dogs are really good at noticing these small changes, and it can make them think that something dangerous is happening. So they might get all reactive.
Remember, dogs have different personalities just like people do. Some might get reactive more easily than others, and some might not react at all. But it’s important for us to stay calm and relaxed when we’re around dogs. That way, they’re less likely to feel threatened and react.
If you’re ever unsure about how to behave around a dog or if you have a dog that’s reactive, it’s best to ask a professional dog trainer for help. They can give you the right tips to stay safe and have a good time with dogs!
Reinforcement isn’t necessarily accidentally giving your dog treats or a reward at the wrong time, or stroking them when their barking…Remember that your dog is trying to achieve a goal. If they want distance from an object, person, or animal…they may run away, or they may bark in hopes the opposition leaves. If they pull you towards a destination, they will continue to repeat the action that got them to their destination….which happens to be dragging you down the road. Just remember, the end result, or the object of your dogs desire is the true reward and that achieving their goals are their main source of reinforcement. Dogs are very goal oriented.......#dogtraining #dogbehavior #dogbehaviour #dogowner #doglifeisgood

Ive put tools on certain dogs and within the first few minutes can tell…this isnt going to work. They could be too sensitive for a prong where its to stimulating, or maybe they need a 3.0 instead of a 2.25…Or perhaps the Ecollor stim freaks them out, or they need comfort pads. Sometimes you go to put a slip lead on a dog and realize immediately they have issues with their trachea. But more importantly sometimes and most often we also dont pair or find the right motivation for the dog. Ive seen dogs thst werent food motivated in public but will forget about their reactivity as soon as a ball bounces, or they hear a clicker. Ive seen bully breeds drop their dog on dog aggression for a good game of tug. These are all tools in our training toolbox and sometimes we pick the wrong one. I can put a nail in the wall with a screwdriver but a monkey wrench might do better, and better yet even a hammer. In highschool i didnt care about my grades until my math teacher made it competitive and friends were comparing grades. Your dog just like your significant other, or just like your kids.. need the right motivation. Because no matter how hard you try to push them into the right direction without the right motivation your just pushing against a brickwall......#dogtips #dogadvice #dogtrainingtips #dogowners #petparents #forcefreedogtraining #balancedtraining #positivereinforcementtraining
Tired of your dog blowing you off? Well, if you’re repeating yourself, you’re just devaluing the command. If you’re not reinforcing or rewarding…you’re devaluing your commands…if you don’t care if your dog does it…then your dog doesn’t care. There’s 100 trillion dog trainers on social media and one thing I think most can agree on is that repeating commands and inconsistent reinforcement or reward do nothing but hinder your training process…yet…so many ppl still do it 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤔.......#dogtraining #dogadvice #doglife #dogowners #petparent #positivereinforcementtraining #forcefreetraining

When did you truly start training your dog?Did you start immediately, or did you start once you realized you didn’t have that much control?Sometimes people hear that they should train their dogs immediately and thank that that’s mean…or that they want to have fun and just enjoy the dog first etc….Some folks even think they dog will grow out of it.The truth is your dog will have a better life the more trained it is, and the sooner you start setting boundaries the sooner you’ll have less problems to deal with. Have fun with your dog, but also make sure you lead and teach your dog too…because they are watching you…and even though you might not think it….you’re already training them…but what are you teaching?.......#dogtraining #doglife #forcefreetraining #balancedtraining #positivereinforcementtraining #dogtips
Work on distance and duration.
Sit , Stay, Place, Come! If you want to take your dog out in public they should know these commands. It’s always best to keep your dog on leash but sometimes we drop the leash, sometimes we need our dogs just just stay and hang out for one second while we do something…things happen…make sure you have a good solid foundation to keep your dog safe in public. Remember to take your dog on field trips just for training purposes. If you only practice come at home, it may not be as solid at a busy park in a new environment. Remember when the environment changes, the rules for the dog change. In order to have the same results at home, you have to work on getting the same results out in public.

Playing with your dog and adding in some obedience training is not only fun but also very beneficial for both you and your furry friend. Here are some reasons why Instagrammers should consider playing with their dog and incorporating obedience training into their routine:•Bonding: Playing with your dog and training him/her will strengthen the bond between you and your pet. Dogs are social animals and crave interaction with their owners. Spending quality time with your dog will create a stronger relationship between the two of you.•Exercise: Dogs need physical exercise just as much as humans do. Playing with your dog is a great way to get them moving and keep them healthy. A game of fetch or tug-of-war can be a great form of exercise for your dog.•Mental stimulation: Dogs also need mental stimulation to keep their brains sharp. Obedience training provides mental stimulation as your dog has to learn new commands and behaviors. This mental stimulation can tire your dog out just as much as physical exercise can.•Better behavior: Obedience training can help your dog learn better behavior. Teaching your dog basic commands such as “sit,” “stay,” and “come” can prevent problem behaviors such as jumping on people, running away, or not listening to commands.•Safety: Obedience training can also improve your dog’s safety. If your dog knows basic commands, you can prevent them from running into traffic or getting into other dangerous situations.•Socialization: Training and playing with your dog can also help with socialization. Bringing your dog to obedience classes or introducing them to new people and dogs can help them learn how to behave in different situations.•Communication: Finally, playing with your dog and training them can improve communication between you and your pet. Learning how to read your dog’s body language and vocal cues can help you better understand their needs and desires.Overall, playing with your dog and incorporating obedien
It is important to avoid correcting your dog until they fully understand what you are trying to teach them because correction without understanding can create confusion and anxiety for your dog, and may actually impede their learning progress.Dogs learn best through positive reinforcement, which means rewarding them for behaviors that you want them to repeat. Punishing or correcting a dog for a behavior they do not understand may cause them to become fearful or anxious, which can hinder their ability to learn.Instead of correcting your dog, it is important to focus on teaching them what you want them to do through positive reinforcement training techniques, such as clicker training or treat-based training. By using positive reinforcement, you can gradually shape your dog’s behavior over time and reinforce good habits that they will continue to repeat. It is also important to remember that dogs have different learning abilities and may take longer to understand certain commands or behaviors. Patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement are key when training your dog......#dogtraining #dogtips #doginfluencers #dogsarebest #dogtrainingadvice
Practice with distractions when you’re able to control the distractions so you and your dog are ready for when you can’t.Sports teams have drills and scrimmages and practice what it’s like in a real game way before they play that game. Once you leave your house, there’s no telling what can happen. This is why you must set your dog up for failure when you can control what happens next…so not only your dog can practice but you can also practice getting your dog back under control. If you don’t know how to act when your dog reacts in public you’ve set both of you up for failure.......#dogtraining #greatpyrenees #rottweiler #dogtrainer dogtrainerslife #dogloversfeed
There’s nothing wrong with being excited, but excitement is a precursor for reactivity, and disobedience. Stop trying to teach your dog how to walk properly by taking lengthy improper walks. Also when you go into a new environment, of course your dogs energy is going to shift. They are excited and anxious on what these new magical lands have to offer. But before you rush into things, take time out in the parking lot and run some drills. Work your dog and go through your obedience, have a quick play session so your dog knows to engage with you. But if you open the car door and your dog jumps out without being released, starts pulling immediately in the direction that interests them the most, you drop your keys or worse your cell phone, now your frustrated and both of y’all’s energy is all over the place. Gather yourself, take a moment…and get everything together before you head off on your adventure............#dogtraining #dogtips #doglover #doglife #dogadvice #greatpyrenees #furmom #petparents
If it doesn’t come natural and you want it to continue, you will have to always reinforce the behavior. Use it or lose it in a sense. Stop wondering when the day will come when you don’t have to reinforce a behavior. The day that you stop reinforcing is the day your dog will essentially start reverting towards their instinctual nature. Training a dog is just the act of teaching it a skill, discipline, or action. But you have to maintain it. Once a dog is taught something they never forget. But a dog is never going to continue to do something unnatural without the possibility of reward. The inverse is also accurate as a dog with not stop doing something that comes natural without the possibility of a consequence........#dogtrainingtip #dogtrainers #doglovers #doglover #dogtraining #dogsdvicd #petparent
Using Hand Signals Combined with Leash Pressure is a great way to layer and teach your dog new commands. Here I’m using the leash pressure to show Ace which direction I want him to go into. I’m also using a lure, to teach the hand signal at the same time. Once he’s in position, I mark and then reward in position. We have one more week together and this week will be Ecollar/Proofing week. So now you’ll be able to see it all come together.Got.Dog, Got.Family.....#dogobedience #balancedtraining #forcefreetraining #dogtips #dogadvice #doglover #dogsofnorthcarolina #dogsofsouthcarolina #doglifeisgood #furmom
The “place” command offers several benefits for both you and your dog, including: 🐺Improved obedience: The “place” command helps teach your dog to obey your commands and stay in one spot until released. 🐶 Increased focus and attention: By practicing the “place” command, your dog will learn to focus on you and ignore distractions. 🐩 Better behavior: The “place” command can help prevent destructive or unwanted behavior, such as jumping on guests or begging at the dinner table. 🐕 Calmness and relaxation: The “place” command teaches your dog to settle down and relax in a specific spot, which can be helpful for anxious or high-energy dogs. Let’s say you’re hosting a party at your house and your dog gets excited and starts jumping on guests or begging for food. By using the “place” command, you can train your dog to go to his designated spot and stay there until the party is over. This will prevent your dog from bothering guests or stealing food and help keep the atmosphere calm and relaxed. Additionally, if your dog is prone to anxiety or nervousness, the “place” command can provide a safe and familiar space for him to retreat to when feeling overwhelmed.
As a dog owner, you want to ensure that your furry friend is happy and well-behaved. One of the best ways to achieve this is through positive reinforcement during training. Rewards are a great way to motivate your dog and encourage good behavior. Here are some popular methods of rewarding your dog during training:Treats: Using small, tasty treats can be an effective way to reward your dog. When your dog performs the desired behavior, give them a treat immediately. Be sure to choose treats that your dog loves and are small enough to avoid overfeeding.Verbal Praise: Dogs love hearing positive reinforcement from their owners, so using verbal praise can be a powerful way to reward good behavior. Use an excited and happy tone of voice to let your dog know that they're doing a great job.Physical touch and affection: Many dogs respond positively to physical touch and affection, such as petting, scratching, and belly rubs. Use these rewards to reinforce good behavior during training.Playtime: Dogs love to play, so incorporating playtime into your training sessions can be a fun and engaging way to reward your dog. Games like tug-of-war or fetch can be used as rewards for good behavior.Toys: Similar to playtime, you can also use toys as a reward during training. Some dogs respond well to playing with a toy after performing a desired behavior.Life Rewards: Life rewards are things that your dog enjoys, such as going for a walk or spending time in a favorite spot. Use these rewards to reinforce good behavior and encourage your dog to continue being well-behaved.Remember, each dog is unique, so experiment with different types of rewards to find out what works best for your furry friend. Be consistent with your rewards and always provide positive reinforcement during training to ensure that your dog is happy and well-behaved
There are several benefits to using a dog crate, including:Provides a safe and secure space for your dog: A dog crate can provide a secure and comfortable space for your dog to retreat to when they need to feel safe or want to relax.Prevents destructive behavior: Dogs may chew on furniture, shoes, or other household items when left alone. A crate can help prevent destructive behavior by keeping your dog confined to a safe space.Housebreaking: Crate training can aid in housebreaking your dog by teaching them to control their bladder and bowels.Traveling: A crate can provide a familiar and safe environment for your dog when traveling in a car or airplane.Vet visits: Your dog may feel more comfortable and less anxious in a crate during vet visits.Training: Crate training can help with obedience training and prevent problem behaviors like excessive barking or jumping.Prevents injuries: Keeping your dog in a crate can prevent them from injuring themselves by getting into hazardous situations or ingesting toxic substances....#dogtraining #dogadvice #dogsarefamily #dogsarelife #dogscorner
Before you work your dog offleash, work them on leash by just dropping it. It’s best to use a long line in case they decide they want to take off especially if your dog is fast lol.
I’m just building up and layering what he knows already…SIT(implied stay) Heel, and Come…and just tying all of those together. Also notice I’m not doing huge distances, I don’t want too much space between us where he can get distracted midway. Once he gets to me for the heel or the recall I make make sure to reward.
As you see he failed the walk around test…which means I don’t try it again…I take a step back. So often people want to try over and over again the task or command that their dog failed at completing…that’s not what you should do. You should go back a step and reinforce those behavior’s over and over again …so in this case I start with a food lure and use it to hold Ace in place while I walk around him then mark and reward. Then I practice a few more times while holding the leash and end the sessions on a positive note, never end a training session on a fail.
