AFEW Animal Friends for Education and Welfare

AFEW is a non profit, volunteer run organization dedicated to animals. AFEW volunteers donate their time to exercise, socialize, and train the dogs.

We work to find loving homes for homeless animals and to educate the public on critical issues such as spay and neuter. AFEW is a group of volunteers that work with the Hamilton Township Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. AFEW provides vaccinations, spay/neuter, vet care, and microchips for the shelter residents, including other surgeries and medical needs. We also pay board for some animals that

cannot remain at the shelter due to space limitations or other circumstances. Volunteers bring adoptable animals to AFEW's Adoption Day on Saturdays in search of their forever homes.

UPDATE: Charlie and Simon found a new furever home with the friend of their owner’s neighbor. Wishing them the best of luck and happy they found another happy ending.

AFEW is seeking a foster home for Charlie and Simon by December 9th. Their owner recently passed away and they are being cared for by neighbor. They are healthy, neutered and very friendly. AFEW is seeking a furever home for Pandora. She is a special needs kitty needing insulin shots twice a day. She is sweet and healthy and her elderly owner can no longer care for her.

Pooch is a 3 year old, spayed female Great Pyrenees/Sheep Dog mix in search of a new home. She is up to date on her shots and has worked with a trainer. Her elderly owners are no longer able to physically care for her.

Pooch loves long walks most of all. She defines the world by her keen sense of smell. She is extremely curious about everything.

She is well behaved in the car.

Pooch is a chewer. Her family goes through lots of bully sticks but she goes wild with excitement when given the round circle ones. Pooch loves to catch her orange octopus toy on the fly and to play pull with the legs.

Pooch loves the couch and if you get up, she plops down right on your spot and chews her stick.

She's a super guard dog. She's very protective of her owners, the house and anything in her small world. Barks when she's unsure of what she hears.

One more thing - she listens well. She doesn't do doggy things, like licking, not tempted by the kitchen garbage, jumping up to the counter. Once a rule is established, she accepts it completely.

Luke is a 3 year old Golden Retriever with reddish fur who is good with people and other dogs. He responds to your energy and can be playful or just hang out. Luke has some basic training, is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his shots.

Alyx is a 3 year old smaller sized Staffie mix looking for a furever home.

She loves everyone including people, dogs and cats. Alyx likes long walks, running by your side, playing, car rides and any adventure you might like to go on. She likes to chill out in the sun or lay in your lap and watch TV.

She is housebroken, spayed, up to date on her vaccines.
