What an amazing article!

Horse shows in the mid-20th century America were society events. The well-heeled and the famous would arrive, be seated in swanky hospitality accommodations with food and drink, and people watch, as well as horse watch. As in horse racing, the horses themselves were sometimes secondary to the specta...

Can you find The Maestro? 👀

I'm convinced horses know when they blend into their surrounding and will show themselves once they've seen if you're coming with a bucket of a halter... he hasnt proven me wrong yet 😅

I clicked on the article because it said "sub-culture"...

(Subculture - noun - a cultural group within a larger culture, often having beliefs or interests at variance with those of the larger culture.)

I wonder in which ways beliefs differ amongst Black horsepeople.

Atlanta-based photographer Forest McMullin stumbled across African American cowboy culture by chance when a student of his mentioned her husband’s love of horses and rodeos. Throughout the country, he explains, individuals and communities are working to preserve the oft-overlooked history and heri...

One of my favorite things about seeing horses in media is that they are often associated with beauty, power, and presence. We saw that with and the metallic renaissance horse and here in 's Closer to God music video.

I love that the horses in this video were a metaphor for connection and freedom. They didn't have a ton of tack, weren't performing a barrage if tricks and simply carried the imagery of being closer to God in their presence. I know the Black In The Saddle fam feels that way on horseback 🖤

🎶 There's something really special livin' inside of you

Woah, you make it easy in the mind, yo
I can never see my life outside of you
Even though I'm broken, got me feelin' strong
Everything that's spoken doesn't need a song

I only wanna be the one to get along, I
I admire you, naturally I do adore you
With the measure of a woman, I mean to restore you
I love you like a mother loves her only son
I, I, I

Thank you Aunties for bringing us a beautiful representation of horses and Black women.

(I believe the horses are from , Thank yall too!)

Tell me about a time you're horse made your heart pitter patter...

Maestro neighs as soon as he sees me. We are visiting a friend and he keeps an eye out for me and has been neighing if he hears my voice or sees me come up the driveway.

I love that I can hang with him with no expectation. I'm not always bringing him food, I'm not always taking him out on a ride. We're sharing space and enjoying each other and I like to believe he looks forward to that.

Here's to being in our prime and learning each other on the journey 🙌🏾

Today marks 4 years of intention.

4 years of storytelling.
4 years of listening, sharing wins, connecting, and supporting.
4 years of hearing every excuse in the book but pushing forward anyway.
4 years of watching, waiting, and building in silence.

Happy Birthday to this platform.

I'm not sure when I'll have the capacity and inspiration to hold more conversation, but I hope you have learned something or met someone via this podcast, community, or the shared vision to acknowledgethe impact and influence of Black people on the horse industry.

If so, I would love for you to share below.
