This is Storm - he has been a faithful member of puppy day camp school since he was a wee lad 😍🐾

At puppy camp, we spend half of the day in short training sessions and the other half socializing in new places and practicing our leash skills.

This is my own dog, but I also taught this behavior to service dog clients because it adds an element of safety since the dog will associate retrieving the leash to handler instead of wandering away if their leash is dropped by accident.

I think it’s a handy trick for ALL dogs 🤔🤷‍♀️

It’s been a while since we posted a “sneak peek” of one of our Puppy Camp community field trips.

This is a clip from Lucky’s outing at Home Depot today.

Lucky is a 9 month old Golden Retriever. Her family has been a client with us since she was about 4 months old and they’ve done a fabulous job with her leash and marker training homework, which has produced this lovely walk that I am reinforcing intermittently, and she’s naaling it even with all the distractions going on in the store 🙌🐾

She’s now mastered looking back to handler automatically when she sees a persn in public, but one of our “next step” goals for Lucky is to learn a calmer greeting of humans. She loves people - after all, she IS a golden 🤷‍♀️

She was once VERY excited to see ANYONE and would come up the leash to mouth the handler’s arms and jump on them, etc. She has made great progress but we still have more work to do…and that’s ok, she’s still an adolescent, and by the time she’s an adult, she’ll be even more amazing than she is today 😍🐾

MYP Moss is a 10yo male border collie. Our Stay & Train guest is an 18 week old female border collie. She’s a really good puppy, but she can be “too extra” with her enthusiasm and Moss is setting boundaries for their relationship.

Early relationships with solid adult dogs is incredibly important for puppies to learn appropriate ways to communicate with other dogs.
