Thanks for your help Kit 😂💗🐾
Stay & Train Sadie will be 10 weeks old tomorrow. She’s getting more physical endurance and more interested in playing bitey games.
This stage of a puppy’s development can be very daunting for humans. Especially so if you don’t have an appropriate (and willing!) dog in the house to take the brunt of all that shark biting 🦈
I love that MYP Kit loves puppies and is really great at teaching them appropriate play.
However, I don’t allow this fun interaction to happen for long periods of time (maybe 10 minutes total), and I don’t even allow it to happen on a daily basis.
My reasoning for keeping it short and occasional is that it’s important for Sadie to learn to coexist with other dogs, and Kit is doing a great job at teaching her about dog language and bite inhibition, but Sadie also needs to learn that she doesn’t always have access to other dogs in this way.
Puppies also need to learn how to coexist with dogs and just leave them be.
So sometimes, I take on her velociraptor mood, and we work on things like tug, drop it, trade games, etc., so that she can still get her needs met while learning some life skills with a human.
