Sadie (9 wks) meets Kit Part 2

Kit is my 2yo female border collie.
I adopted her last summer from Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue

Kit LOVES to play with puppies and has been a great helper here with socializing client pups when they stay with us for training.

Kit can be forward but she reads the room very well and backs off when she senses the puppy is afraid.

Sadie briefly met Kit on her first day and Kit gave her lots of space. Today Sadie is feeling more curious and solicited the interaction first!

You can see how Sadie is already learning to adapt her behavior, according to which household dog she is interacting with… Reference her meeting with my Ben on Day 2 😉

9 wk Sadie is a guest in our Stay & Train Program to gain some extra social experiences and to onboard some basic life skills like crate training, leash walking, stays, go to mat, exposure to new people, places, dogs, etc. She will meet each of my own dogs and learn that she must adjust her interactions according to each personality. Here she is meeting Ben, my 7 yo male. Ben is tolerant of puppies but does not appreciate them crawling on him, etc. He will correct for that. Sadie is reading him very well and has quickly figured out he has boundaries 😉

Please welcome Sadie to the MYP Family!

Sadie will be 9 weeks on Sunday and will be our guest for a couple of weeks while we focus on crate training, leash walking, basic obedience cues, confidence building, and appropriate social exposure to people, places, and animals 🐾

After her initial stay, she will be transferring over to our day camp program to continue practicing her skills and increase her social outings 🐕

My dogs are divided about the puppy in the house - Kit is a big fan! Liz not so much …but she’s a really good den mother 😂🐾

Please welcome Nash to our MYP Family 😍🐾

Nash and his hoomans will be working with us via private coaching and Nash is also our proud newest member of MYP Prodigy Pup School 🐶😍

He will be attending pup school twice a week to get a jumpstart on leash manners and social skills. His people have big plans for his future! 🎓🐾

Part of being a “do everything and go everywhere” dog involves learning to wait quietly, even when it’s weird (to a dog) 🤷‍♀️

We are on our way to work on some public manners, but I had some errands along the way and Archie is rocking his lessons 🐾

Please welcome Archie to MYP Stay & Train

Archie is a 2yo Miniature Aussie and will be staying with us to work on some public leash manners as well as how to “live and let live” around another dog. In other words, his FOMO feelings when another dog is getting the attention 🐶

Archie’s person has already done a lot of training with him, so we will have fun putting on some polish this week 💗🐾

Nala is our newest day camp member.
She is an 18 week Pomeranian and will be working on all the basic skills with a special focus on becoming braver with people, novelty, and other (appropriate) dogs.

We are excited to have Nala on our team and look forward to being part of her journey 🐾
