I did a little training with my own dogs and worked on our social skills at the Farmers Market this morning 🐾

Kit’s leash skills have really improved, but Star gets first place for most improved!! 🌟

Last year Star was so worried that she couldn’t even walk through the parking lot and pulled backwards to go back the car. I am so happy with how far her confidence has improved - ears were up, loose leash and a natural tail carriage! 💗

Ben was his natural attention hog self, polite greetings to every type of human, but he gets extra credit for ignoring other dogs.

Liz was just happy to be here- she’s 13 and acts like she’s 2 - I’m not complaining about that 💗

The biggest tip I have for this is to set the dog up for success by putting some distance between dog and door when you first begin teaching it.

I also make sure they can see the side of my face even as I am stepping out the doorway (in the early stages of teaching stay, I also make sure they can see the side of my face as I walk away)…this maintains some connection with the dog and gives them confidence that I haven’t completely disconnected.

As this becomes easier for him, I will set him up closer to the door.

Please welcome Lucky to the MYP Family!!

Lucky is a 14 wk Golden Retriever.
Her family hopes Lucky will want to be a Therapy Dog when she grows up 🐶

We will be working on good foundation habits (leash walking, handler focus, appropriate greetings, etc) and appropriate exposure to new dogs, people, places, sounds, etc…

We specialize in providing a well rounded foundation curriculum in puppyhood along with pet owner education and coaching throughout the adolescent dog’s development. Our goal is for families to enjoy a lifetime of good manners and social skills with their furry family member 🐾🙌

Lucky will be attending our puppy camp twice a week along with private lessons so the family can practice what Lucky learns at school.
