Noodle is an energetic ball of joy! She loves toys & ear scratches. She’s a very curious 2yr old. Always likes to see what you’re doing, where you are & if she can be a part of it. Perfect traits for a little buddy! 👯

When allowed, she politely touches noses with dogs to say hello, when walking with her harness. 🐕‍🦺 She loves to make friends with everyone!

Off-leash, she gets the zoomies and she’s fast! 🌪️ She’s so happy about life, people, dogs, leaves, you name it!

Noodle was adopted as a puppy from a shelter, then found as a stray later. Her owners didn’t claim her so she was released to MHLM, their loss is someone else’s gain ⭐️

She is very eager to meet other dogs. She would do well to have a playmate, so if your dog needs a dog, pick Noodle! 🐶🐶

Noodle can be an “enthusiastic greeter” so school age kids would probably be best until she’s learned the “4 on the floor” rule. Just like all dogs, consistent training is needed📚

Noodle is mostly potty trained and working on learning how to greet people from the ground and not in their faces. 🙄 She is bright and very food motivated, getting the hang of things quickly 🧠 She enters a crate with little encouragement and sleeps well there all night.

She loves to play and is happy taking long exploration walks on the trail. She likes playing in the creek on the trail too, bring on the water 💦

It’s a bird... it’s a plane... it’s Superman 🦸🏻‍♂️ or Manny for short! 😏

Manny is such a handsome, happy boy. He is energetic and loves to play, especially fetch! 🎾

He’s VERY excited to be out of the shelter and settling in with a foster. Right now, Manny has one speed and it is go, go, GO 🌪️ But we know he will settle down with more time. He will do best with an adopter who is eager to train and help him continue to learn house rules and boundaries! 👍🏼

Manny is a super smart pup. He is 100% house trained, goes into his crate without contest, and sleeps on a dog bed at night 👏🏼 He was a little intimidated by the stairs in his foster home, but he successfully conquered after a few days showing just how smart and eager to please he is! 🥰

He is Mr. Independent and likes to carry his leash in his mouth 😂 He’s gone on several walks and loves to explore! His neck is healing from an embedded collar, so we recommend a gentle lead with strong harness for now 🐕‍🦺

Manny is super friendly with people 😃 He happily greets everyone he meets on walks! He has not been around many children, but he’s a big lover and will most likely enjoy being a family dog.

🐾 He’s a large energetic guy which can be a bit much for some other dogs. We recommend slower intros with dogs as Manny learns his manners. After some sniffs, he calms down and is ready for play time! 🐶 He’s really enjoying living with another dog in his foster home.

Manny has so much potential to be an amazing dog 🤩 He will thrive in a home with love, consistency and training. Don’t miss out on being his person!

Hi there! I’m Donut, or honestly, anything you want to call me as long as you have food for me! 😋

I’m a healthy, happy, and active puppy so am still learning the ropes when it comes to commands and what is expected of me 👍🏼

I will say I have mastered the art of napping soundly while my humans work from home though, so I’m on the right track! 😉

I am a sweet guy looking for a home and humans that will help me with my training, help me burn off some puppy energy in a large yard, and help me develop into the dog I’m meant to be. A home with other dogs would be so beneficial to me (and you!) as well, as I take my cues from them and learn what to or not to do to! 🐾

I’m a social guy, and did wonderfully with my TX foster and her pack of dogs! 🐶

I do get anxious when a fence or leash separates me from other potential dog friends, and would benefit greatly from an adopter with calming energy willing to work with me on this.

I’m currently living with 4yr old twins and do wonderfully with them. I’m very gentle and try hard to not play too rough 🥰

I am eager to please and will do so well once I have some structure and consistency with my training 😇 When I came to CO I was a very blank slate, so I do need help with the basics. I pick things up quickly and just need consistency. And food. Food helps. Big fan of that! 🦴

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good nap and I’m a great sleeper. But, I love to play and want to please so love to be around my humans entertaining them!

I also love toys, puzzles, games, you name it, to help stimulate my developing brain 🧠 I love anything I can chew on - this can keep me busy for awhile if you need to ever not have me act as your shadow (which, I don’t know why you’d not want, but still...) 😜

I might sound like a lot to some but I promise I have all the potential the be a really good boy for the right family! 🖤

Anyone looking for adorable, playful AND sweet? Well we go him & his name is Beau!

Beau LOVES other dogs and enjoys their company. Of course this sweet boy enjoys everyone’s company especially the kiddos!🧒🏽

Beau loves to curl up on a lap and will find the softest place to rest. Of course this is only after a fun game of tug 🪢 or a little wrestling 🤼

Beau is a smart boy 🧠 who is already working on “sit” and better yet… doing incredible on potty training 💩, says foster Mama 🎉. He’s sleeping well in a kennel and is just such a good puppy!

🐕‍🦺 Hope you’re active as this energetic boy really likes his walks and to explore. He’s not afraid to let you know it’s time to GO, as he’s recently found his voice 🗣️

Like all puppies, Beau requires not only your love, but your time & attention to socialize, train & help him become the best boy he can be ⭐️

It’s a lab! No…
It’s a pug….? Not quite!
It’s a …. Sheepadoodle? Yup!

That’s right. Our newest “honorary lab” is Oliver the Sheepadoodle! 🐑

Oliver was confiscated from his owners due to neglect. He was extremely matted and had to be shaved (scroll ➡️ for his “before” pic 😢)

Once his fur grows out, he will require regular brushing and grooming to prevent matting ✂️ So far, no shedding has been noticed 🙌🏼

Oliver is such a sweet boy that only wants love and affection! ❤️ He greets everyone with kisses and tail wiggles 😁 and he loves to snuggle up and get pets.

🐾 Oliver loves other dogs. He’s met them on and off leash without issue. He is having a blast with his foster sister, they run and play together as well as lay in the grass and hang out.

He is very friendly with the children in his foster home. He likes to give his paw for a treat 🦴

He does not appear to know many commands 🤔 but is a well-mannered dog. He really just wants to be right next to his people. He loves treats so training should be easy 👍🏼

It doesn’t seem like he’s been exposed to the leash very much. He pulls when excited but we’re confident he’ll get the hang of it with time and training!

Oliver is a young dog with sporting breed genetics 🧬 He will do best in an active home 🏠 that provides regular exercise and socialization.

He has all the qualities of a great companion and can’t wait for a new life full of love and adventure 🫶🏼

If you are looking for a dog who will be a playful buddy to your current dog, Rozzie is your girl! 🐶

She is the perfect mix of active and lazy. She loves belly rubs and her floppy ears will melt your heart! 🥰 Her personality is described as sweet and charming.

Rozzie was originally found as a stray in New Mexico and rescued by MHLRM. She was adopted shortly after arriving to Colorado, but life for Rozzie’s human has recently changed. At no fault of Rozzie, they have decided it is in her best interest to find a new family 💔

Rozzie has not met a dog she doesn’t love! 🐾 She is very playful and loves zooming around with a pal. We actually think she would thrive in a home with another playful, active dog 😁

🐱 She currently lives with strong-willed cats and sometimes tries to get them to play with her.

She likes kids but can get a little rambunctious with the littles 🤷🏻‍♀️ She just lives to PLAY so we think kids 6 and older are best 💞

Rozzie is 100% house-trained 👏🏼 She is also crate trained 👏🏼 When her people leave the home, she can be trusted to free roam but she doesn’t mind her crate either.

She knows sit, stay, wait, release, down and come 🤩 She loves to go on walks, but her loose leash skills need some work. She also needs some training on greeting people with all 4 of her paws on the ground 😬

She is a smart dog, she needs a human who will work with her to polish up her basic obedience skills 👍🏼

If you enjoy running, walking, and hiking - this girl is for you! She would love it if her new family had another active dog for her to play with.

The good news is when it’s time to chill and watch a good movie, she will relax and chill with you!

Fred is a friendly, funny, and cute pooch with an affectionate and curious nature! ♥️

Athletic ✔️ playful ✔️ loves to run around and explore✔️ BUT he’s also up for snuggles and a nice nap ✔️

Fred is defintely still a puppy who is learning how to live in a home 🏡 He’s working on his doggie manners, is gentle, and obedient (responds so well to corrections), and he’s good with other dogs. 🐶 100% good boy!

Fred is a smart, treat-motivated 🦴 boy and has already learned “sit” and waits patiently for treats when told to do so!

🐶 He loves making new dog friends and playing with his canine pals, but he’s just as happy to curl up with his human friends, too. It’s called balance people! ♥️

Sleeps quietly in his crate through the night and will go in there to relax during the day. He would make a wonderful hiking buddy 🏕️

Happy - a day we celebrate our amazing our fosters!! 👏

Meet Andrea along with her amazing dog loving family (and cutest cows, EVER!) 🐮

After moving to Texas January 2021, Andrea quickly recognized how badly foster families were needed. “I knew moving here how bad the dumped dog and full shelter epidemic was, but I was not nearly as prepared for the reality of it until we got settled. I immediately signed up to foster with MHLM in April 2021 and we got our first pup. Gracie” ♥️

As anyone who has fostered knows…, fostering isn’t always easy “Gracie ended up being epileptic and seized often. It was heart breaking and scary. This girl had been dumped in shelters 5 times over her life. With Gracie, I was now committed to helping as many as I could” said Andrea 🥰

Taking in several more foster over the next couple years, several meaning over a dozen MHLM dogs! 🐶 But it didn’t stop there for Andrea.

In June of 2023 Andrea & family moved to a rural area of Houston on 6 acres and the amount of dumped dogs was horrific. She immediately took in 4 MHLM dogs along with 10 other dogs dumped near to her home. All 14 dogs have been placed in homes or transported to Colorado 👏

“Sometimes it is hard. Inconvenient. Stressful. But seeing these dogs that don’t have a fighting chance move into loving, beautiful families is worth everything! If you have a heart for animals, there is nothing like the rush of picking up a dog just hours before they are scheduled for euthanasia and getting a face full of grateful kisses and naps with their head on your lap. Knowing they are alive because of you”

Thank you Andrea, for your commitment to ALL the dogs, MHLM pups and the dumped dogs that are lucky enough to find your family & home. 🏡

We’re celebrating by highlighting a few of our amazing black Mile High Labs! 🖤

Did you know black dogs are passed over for adoption in favor of lighter-colored animals? It’s called Black Dog Syndrome.

A study published in the Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science found that black coat colors negatively influenced adoption rates for both dogs and cats 😔

Why? The reason behind the phenomenon is unclear. But we see the impact of BDS often at MHLRM with several of our long-term dogs being large and black.

This is why they deserve their own special day! Will you consider adopting a black Lab? We have lots available and ready for love! 🥰

Looking for a sweet, gentle and cuddly puppy? Justice is for you! This adorable girl loves to be next to her humans 💕 Her love language is definitely touch! She lives for kisses and cuddles. 🥰

Justice recently discovered toys 🧸 and is so goofy playing with her stuffy. She loves to throw it in the air and chase it! It’s the cutest thing to watch, ever!

Justice and her 3 siblings were found in rural Texas, but are now CO pups 🐶 Ready to meet their families 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 and start their forever lives ♥️

This girl is Friendly! Justice has been in a foster home with several other dogs and does well with them. She’s shy at first, but learning to play! Watching her little personality unfold is so fun! 🥰

Justice has a very sweet & gentle temperament. She’s loved every kiddo she’s met and accepts their gentle pets and hugs, she’ll be a wonderful family member!

A blank slate to training. She is a quick learner and eager to please. Foster mom is working on crate and potty training. She is doing great with both! She’s only had a few accidents inside but seems to understand the concept of doing her business outdoors. 💩 She prefers to sleep on a dog bed in her foster moms bedroom at night. Foster mom likes it too 🥰

She is learning all about the leash and walks. She loves to be outside! She’ll be a great hiking partner with more exposure 🐕‍🦺

Justice is a young Lab mix that will require regular exercise and socialization. She will play for a bit and then cuddle up next to you for a nap. What more could you ask for!

What. A. Week! 👏🏼

MHLRM welcomed 21 dogs to Colorado this week! Many (pictured here) have already been adopted by loving families 🥰 and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for the rest.

Kudos to our volunteers who went above and beyond all week helping with adoption interviews, transports, puppy yoga and more ❤️

Sweet, Gentle, Playful, High energy & doesn’t even know what the word aggressive means…! Yep, that sums up Ranger!

This 7-year-old Labrador comes from a breeder in northern Colorado, where he trained as a pointer and bird dog, earning multiple awards in show and agility 🦆 along with being a Big ol’ stud (literally!)

Now retired from his stud duties, Ranger is ready to find his forever family and settle into a life of love, play (lots of it), swimming and relaxation 🎾 From active to couch potato in minutes, that’s our Ranger 🛋️

Ranger recently experienced living indoors for the first time, and he LOVES it! He’s adapted beautifully ☺️ He’s become quite fond of his crate, using it as his go-to spot for rest or when he wants some downtime.

Potty training has been going well too—Ranger has a charming habit of spinning in circles by the door to let you know he needs to go outside 💩

Despite his age, Ranger is an active and lively companion. He enjoys 3-4 walks a day, ranging from 20 minutes to an hour, and is excellent on a leash. 🥾 He only pulls when an interesting scent catches his attention, you know, like a 🐿️

Ranger is polite when meeting new people, and has met some kids (8yrd old) always sitting to say hello. He’s generally good with dogs, he prefers to avoid dominant ones & isn’t fond of meeting females in heat, those stud days are over 🙅🏽‍♂️

Ranger would thrive in an active household with a yard where he can stretch his legs, and content as an only dog. 🐶 He’s already mastered commands like sit, up, down, and fetch, and is currently working on stay and heel

Surprisingly for a Lab, Ranger isn’t food motivated, 🤷🏼‍♀️ so you won’t have to worry about counter-surfing.

Get it, Rosie 👏🏼 Rosie graduates from her 4 week board and train program with Good Dog Dyno Training on Thursday, March 9th. ‼️ She is still looking for a foster or adopter (you can even foster to adopt). This is a unique opportunity to adopt a professionally trained dog. As you can see, Rosie is one smart girl! 🚫🐶 Rosie is dog reactive. She must be the only dog in the household. She cannot go to dog parks or daycare. What she gives in return? Endless love to humans, including kiddos! “Dogs are so resilient.” We hear this a lot in rescue. How they can go through the unthinkable before rescue, but somehow still have love to give. Meet Banzai. He is a testament of resiliency. Brought to a shelter in the worst condition you can imagine. He was losing his skin and going blind due to neglect. Literally withering away 💔 We were alerted by a partner rescue that Banzai was on the urgent list. The shelter had little faith he’d ever bounce back. They referred to him as a hospice case and wanted a foster to take him home to spend his final days peacefully rather than in a loud, scary facility. If he didn’t have a foster, he would be euthanized. These cases are not easy or cheap. But how could we say no? Looking back, we are so glad we said yes because after spending several months in foster care, Banzai’s health started to improve 🙌🏼 His hair is growing back, he is gaining weight and has more energy. The doctor says his eyesight will never fully return, but overall he is doing fantastic. So fantastic that this week Banzai made the journey to Colorado where a loving adopter greeted him! 🥰 We are so happy for this sweet boy. He deserves nothing but love. The next time you see an old shelter dog that may not be as cute as the young, fluffy puppy — give them a chance. You never know what will happen 💞
