This past week has been one of the toughest our rescue has ever faced.

A litter of seven arrived on 11/15, and by Monday the first puppy was diagnosed with parvo and hospitalized. By Tuesday, three more crashed and required 24/7 critical care. And by Thursday, the final two—Sandra and Calvin—were admitted.

Every single pup needed an initial $3k hospitalization. Four required feeding tubes. Two needed blood transfusions. And sweet Ricky, who was already hospitalized, will need an additional $1.4k eye surgery.

The photos you see here are of Sandra, lovingly nicknamed Princess Sparkles by her foster family. She was one of the sickest in the group, ultimately needing a line placed directly into her throat when her veins could no longer be used, along with two blood transfusions to keep her stable.

In total, their care has reached over $45,000… and that’s just this one litter.

We never want to say no to puppies who deserve a chance, but this level of medical need has pushed our small rescue to its limit. If you’re able to donate — even a few dollars — it truly makes a direct impact on their recovery and on our ability to keep saving dogs who need us most.

Partner Spotlight 🌟

We’re giving THANKS to Cristina at for her experience, knowledge and all around love for dogs and rescue! ☺️

In the last 1.5 years, Cristina and her team have successfully helped 5 MHLRM pups find homes thru Fusions Board & Train program. Focusing on the dog human relationship, she was able to evaluate each pups individual need and implement a plan to assist not just the dog, but us the humans in learning and working as a partner to our pups! 🐶

⭐️Lucy- some would say this girl was a whole package of disfunction! She’d been returned THREE times due to boundary issues, leash aggression, you name it. Lucy now lives happily with her forever family up North.
⭐️Queso - came from a hoarding situation & was unsocialized. He’s became a confident pup whose family still works with Cristina thanks to her lifetime assistance program.
⭐️Kona- hoarding & unsocialized, now a confident pup who’s still looking for her family! (Ask us about Kona!!) ❤️

Fusion Dog Training facility is located in Monument CO offering basic puppy obedience classes (gotta start them you and be consistent!) all the way to board & train programs, along with boarding when you can’t take your furry family member with you 🚙

As the saying goes, “it takes a village” and if you’re in rescue you know that to be true! We are so THANKFUL Cristina and Fusion Dog Training are part of our village!

Pup of the day: Gryffin 2 years old- At 2 yrs old, there is NO sweeter or gentler dog than Gryffin!  🐕‍🦺 A snuggly black Lab who loves  walks/hikes & is equally happy to chill. He enjoys playing nicely with another dog or getting toys to entertain himself.

If you’re looking for a smart, sweet steadfast companion with an abundance of heart, Gryffin is ready to lead the way right into your home! Oh yea, and he doesn’t bark! 🤯

Sweet & happy! Gryffin wants nothing more than to hang with his human AND dog friends! Gryffin loves other dog friends, he’s met a wide variety of doggie - BIG, small, and everything in between 🐶 He loves a good play session!

Gryffin came in as a stray in August 2025 to a shelter in Logan, UT. The volunteers loved him so much and felt like he was getting overlooked so they reached out to MHLRM for help! They are so committed to helping him find his forever that a shelter volunteer drove him to CO! 🚙

Unknown if Gryffin has been around children but his sweet personality& loving nature, suggests he would love some kiddos to love on 🥰

Gryffin is a smart boy and a fast learner. He knows “Sit, Come, Leave It/Let’s Go on a walk” and is learning “Down & Wait” He is house trained and enjoys his kennel. Will sleep all night without a peep and learning to happily wait at the door, 10/10 good boy!🥇

Pup of the day: Loretta, 5 months old-
Loretta is a cute, fluffy, and utterly charming Black Lab mix puppy who’s ready to steal the spotlight! With her soft, dark coat and bright, loving eyes, she’s a beautiful girl who is equal parts playful mischief and sweet snuggles.

🖤 This adorable pup has a heart full of country charm and is looking for a devoted family who will appreciate her fluffy cuddles, cheerful disposition, and undeniable ability to make every day a little brighter.

She’s the darling you’ve been waiting for!
  
Great with other dogs! Loretta is a social girl who is just as playful as she is loving 🐕‍🦺

Loretta is kitty friendly! A couple of kitty swats can tame any pup! 🤣. Squirrels & chickens are made for chasing, according to Loretta. She’s a spunky girl who can’t wait to run & hike!

Bring on the kiddos! Loretta was made to be a family dog, young enough to do well with kind, respectful kiddos! 👧🏽

This young girl is killing the crate game! Clean, clean, clean all night long! I mean potty training is still in process, but she’s getting there!

Pup of the Day: Betsy, 3 months old - is a darling gal with a heart full of sweetness & a coat as soft as velvet! This girl is the embodiment of classic charm—happy, gentle, and overflowing with affection 🖤

Betsy approaches the world 🌎 with curious eyes and a tail that wags with joyful enthusiasm. She’s eager to please and ready to learn all about life as a cherished family dog. If you’re looking for a devoted, lovely, and loyal companion, Betsy is the precious addition your home needs!

☑️ Friendly, snuggly, and happy! This girl has been well socialized & is adorable! Typical puppy antics! Bouncy & loves to snuggle. 

Betsy’s litter was born to mama Betty who had been used for a backyard breeding operation. Once these puppies were too big and too old to be “profitable” their breeder dumped them. A good samaritan reached out, enter MHLRM! 🐶

Great with other pups! Born to a litter of 8 so this girl knows how to share! She will do well with dog friends in their homes 🐕

🐈 Betsy is good with her foster sister cat! This litter is expected to be great with kitties due to their wonderful demeanor and young age. 
Betsy is picking up on potty training, she sleeps & naps in her crate! 🛌

Too little to leash walk, but will learn with time! Our rescue follows “No Paws on the Ground” (NPOG) as a safety protocol for young puppies, primarily used by veterinarians, shelters, and rescues. It means that an unvaccinated or partially vaccinated puppy should never be allowed to put their feet on the ground in any public or communal area where other dogs or animals may have been. These babies love to play in secure yards, and be snuggled and held on family walks.

Pup of the Day: Tim, 8 weeks old — the handsome, heartbreaker of Aggie’s litter!

With his bright eyes, confident little stance, and just the right amount of puppy mischief, Tim is ready to charm his way straight into his forever home 🏠

Tim may have started life in a Texas shelter, but he and his 11 siblings were born in a loving foster home where they’ve been adored, socialized, and spoiled since day one.

He’s brave, curious, playful, and full of that “strong-willed puppy with a squishy marshmallow center” energy we can’t get enough of 😍

He loves other dogs, would be great with kiddos, and is expected to do well with kitties too 🐾 Like all his siblings, he’s working on the puppy basics — potty training, crate training, and sleeping through the night 🙌🏻 He is learning fast!

In between learning? He’s all about snuggling, exploring, and chasing toys before flopping into your lap for a nap.

Pup of the Day: Ditto, 2 years old — the gentle, loyal, “all-love-all-the-time” pup who just wants to follow your lead and curl up nearby.

Black dogs are often overlooked in rescue, but this boy is here to prove that the best dogs aren’t always the flashiest… sometimes they’re the ones with golden eyes, soft hearts, and steady, quiet devotion. And that’s Ditto 🥹

This Lab/Boxer sweetheart is the full package: he LOVES to play, LOVES to cuddle, and LOVES being wherever you are 🥰 He slips easily into any routine, sleeps through the night in his crate, and just wants a person to call his own.

Ditto is great with other dogs, polite with cats, and sweet as can be. He’s still building confidence on the leash, but he’s trying his best — and learning quickly with patience and reassurance 👏

Underneath the slight shyness is a dog who wants so badly to make you proud.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will love you with his whole heart (and follow you from room to room like your shadow), Ditto is ready to be your perfect match!

Pup of the Day: Marcie, 8 weeks old — sweet, smart, and quietly observing the world from her cozy blanket throne 🥰

Marcie is the thoughtful little queen of Aggie’s litter. With her soft eyes, perfect puppy paws, and gentle old-soul energy, she’s the kind of pup who steals your heart without even trying 💛

Marcie’s foster mom says she is playful, cuddly, snuggly, and SO ready to be someone’s best girl.

Born in a loving foster home after her mama Aggie was rescued just in time, Marcie and her 11 siblings have been adored and socialized from day one.

They’re healthy, happy, friendly, and honestly… we cannot believe so many of them are still waiting for homes! 😩

Marcie is wonderful with other dogs, expected to be great with kitties, and would love a house with gentle kiddos who want to play, snuggle, and give alllll the puppy kisses.

She’s working on potty and crate training, sleeps great with her littermates, and follows that classic puppy routine: nap, play, repeat 👏

If you’re looking for a bright, polite, focused little pup with a heart of gold… Marcie is truly “the best dog you could ask for.” 🥹✨
