DogWorks Training camps for dogs starting as young as 8 weeks old. We specialize in off leash training Untrained dogs can make life stressful for their owners.

The dogs often suffer from over arousal problems, have trust issues, and can become aggressive or even dangerous. As a result they are not able to be part of the family or enjoy the beautiful central coast. Through training you will get a dog that is respectful, confident, and well behaved in any situation. We achieve this level of training by using a proven clear communication system, maxiumizing

the dogs motivation, meeting their physical exercise and mental stimulation needs. As a result the dogs are able to live side by side with their owners. Enjoying off leash hiking, visits to the beach, and walks around the park. In addition to enjoying a fulfilled life as a pet well trained dogs can go on to play at dog sports like NoseWork. With group training, private training, and k9 training camp options there is a program for everyone. All group classes are limited to 6 dogs. These are the smallest sized group classes on the central coast! No other group program will give you so much personal attention.

When the vet is running very very late and your a you are a board puppy- you practice your shoulder climbing skills. 😆. Training is all about balance and sometimes goofing around is just what is needed! There are stressed dogs and people here ( the vet is also an emergency vet ) so keeping puppies happy and having a good time in this environment is always our goal!

Recall with Muffin and Muggins! They only let us post one minute videos now so this is just an excerpt from a 25 minute training session! Recalls and release to play is one of my favorite ways to exercise the dogs. It practices impulse control and being able to switch between control and freedom on verbal command a skill all dogs need!

Do I get the reward NOW?! 😆 Rome is rocking his distraction work. To his left is another dog that had been barking yanking it’s owner to try to say hello ( they started mimicking what I was doing to get their dogs attention and reward good behavior 🥳 ) and in front of him are his tasty food rewards. He is working hard to ignore the distraction and give me focus. Good boy!!!

Rome has come leaps and bounds in his short time in puppy camp! Rome was a very easily distracted puppy who was also not very motivated. This combination often makes training very challenging! With the use of dynamic rewards Rome has learned to focus on us, to sit still for longer than three seconds, and the foundation for sit, down, wait and come. We’ve also built up his confidence quite a bit, including tackling his fear of bicycles!

Let’s talk about stability! Kodi is what we call an external dog - and he is high on the external chart! Kodi’s natural state is to be moving and or vocalizing constantly. He’s a high anxiety puppy that can struggle to focus. When we first started training, he would take a treat and do three laps around the coffee table before he was ready to offer another behavior. If he wasn’t given a reward for his very first effort his go to response would be to bark, whine, paw, or again run away. it is super important when working with dogs like this you pay very careful attention to what you’re rewarding. It’s also important we move in small increments toward our larger goals. In this video, his requirement for reward is that his butt is on the ground. His feet are not moving and his head is still. The added component in this session is eye contact. If we’re not careful with our criteria, you will easily get a dog that will tap dance, only hold position for a moment, or a common GSP move of siting then jump up and punch you in the stomach 😅. The larger lesson past just siting calmly, is that he’s learning how to calm his brain and focus. Something that will bleed over to every aspect of life. We are currently booking for July.
