Hi everyone, Tritt is with Kimie and the rest of our Rainbow Bridge family.
Last night, he ate his dinner just fine—he was never a fast eater, always taking his time. He played outside, talked to his people, and everything was quiet when I went to bed. The rescue was peaceful.
This morning, he jumped on my bed soaking wet, foaming and drooling at the mouth. I thought he had eaten something poisonous and immediately rushed him to the vet. They took him in right away, and the X-ray showed his stomach had twisted, bloat.
When they opened him up, they found his stomach had already started dying. The blood flow wouldn’t return, the tissue underneath had turned deep purple, and black striations were forming. They told me that even if they tried to bring him back, he would suffer. I couldn’t let that happen.
I think he might’ve been chasing a squirrel—maybe trapping one in the drainage pipe, one of his favorite things to do. He would wait, staring into the tunnel, lying in the puddle, completely absorbed. Maybe, in all that excitement, he drank too much water too fast. From what I understand, bloat can hit unexpectedly and move fast.
So, I’m holding onto the memory that he was having fun. That’s the only explanation I can think of for why he was soaking wet.
Thank you all for your love and prayers. I’ll check in later this week.
Tritt, I loved you so much. You were an absolute joy. There are no thunderstorms across the rainbow bridge. Please give Kimie my love and the rest. The two of you take care of everyone and be there when it’s my time. I can’t wait to see you again.
