☀ Hot pavement. Bare paws. That’s a painful mix.
Your Boxer doesn’t get a choice.
They don’t know it’s too hot. They just follow you - even if it hurts.

🔥 Pavement can reach 60°C (140°F) or higher in direct sun. That’s enough to burn skin in seconds.

👟 If you couldn’t stand there barefoot, your dog shouldn’t either.
🤚 Check the ground with your hand.
🐶 Walk in the shade. Go out early or late.
💧 Plenty of water and cool spaces to rest.
🏡 And if it’s too hot, swap the walk for a short training session indoors.

No dog ever died from missing a walk. Many have from heatstroke.

💔 Animal rescues across the country are barely keeping their heads above water—and too many are already sinking.

The truth is, times are harder than they’ve ever been.
Intakes are up. Donations are down. Fosters are scarce.
And because of that, innocent dogs are dying in shelters every single day.

At NWBR, we’re seeing it firsthand—and we’re feeling the heartbreak.
Right now, we have 73 dogs in rescue with 18 more waiting to come in. But when you look at our adoptable dogs page, you’ll only see a small fraction of them.

Why?
Because so many of our dogs are in foster-to-adopt homes—an essential program that’s allowed us to keep saving lives even as resources dry up.
