Just like a puzzle a dog is the missing piece to your family! Merci was taken in by a gracious samaritan who could not keep her as her own pet, but did her best to find this pretty pup a second chance. As Merci is still a puppy, she is quite active, loves to play and has plenty of energy; however, she is also happy to cuddle and nap on the couch. Merci loves attention and has already learned several commands in her foster home. She is both eager to learn and eager to please. This girl definitely has plenty of personality- she loves to toss her toys up into the air and catch them herself. She’ll also pounce on toys, chew on them and even unstuff them if the opportunity presents itself! Most of all, Merci loves spending time with her humans. Could Merci be your missing piece? https://grr-tx.com/dog/goldie-3/
Dear Santa,I just have one wish. I’ve been a really good dog and I’ve been waiting patiently at my fosters home for someone with a true rescue heart to overlook my seizures, and accept me for the the fun, loving, loyal dog that I am. My time with my fosters is not forever, and that’s my wish. To find my forever home. I’ve been waiting for a long time, Santa. But I promise if you find me my forever home, I will remind them everyday, though I’m perfectly imperfect, I will bring them all the love and joy in the best way that I can. If you could just fulfill that one wish for me , Santa, I promise to share my treats with Rudolph. Thank you! Ollie 🐾 https://grr-tx.com/dog/ollie/

Meet Ozzy. Ozzy is an Extraordinary Golden because of multiple skin and ear issues, buckling of his rear leg, anemia and dental problems. Over several months, Ozzy met with specialists who treated Ozzy’s myriad of issues. Medication and a proper diet helped his anemia. A neurologist determined that the buckling was from prior carpal and metacarpal injuries and that Ozzy had learned how to compensate, so no surgery needed. During his dental work, they discovered a mass which was removed and tested and fortunately was benign. Today, Ozzy is feeling good, happy, and enjoying life in his adoptive home. This year alone we helped 23 dogs with exceptional medical and behavioral needs with our Extraordinary Golden Fund. By donating to the Tree Of Hope you are supporting our Extraordinary Goldens and every dollar counts. https://www.grr-tx.org/tree/
Meet Mozart: Mozart is an Extraordinary Golden because after enduring heartworm treatment, he began experiencing scary symptoms including being unable to open his eyes, difficulty drinking water and even bleeding gums. He was rushed to emergency care where extensive bloodwork revealed that he had an almost-zero platelet count. Mozart was hospitalized, aggressively treated; His platelet count eventually resolved and a neurologist determined his neurological symptoms were related to the low platelet count. Mozart recovered after several weeks of veterinary care and was adopted by his loving forever family. Mozart is a calm, friendly, mid-energy guy. He cannot get enough human affection from literally everyone he meets. He’s a bottomless pit for petting. After Mozart completes Heartworm treatment, he will be adopted by his adoring Foster-pend-adopt family. Handsome Mozart is one very, very sweet Golden. This year alone we helped 23 dogs with exceptional medical and behavioral needs with our Extraordinary Golden Fund. Meet Melody. Melody is an Extraordinary Golden because she needed 24/7 care at the emergency vet for over a week. This is Melody’s story: Melody was a 4-month puppy who arrived in GRR care very sick, quite small, lethargic and dehydrated. We immediately rushed her to an emergency hospital where they determined Melody had coccidia and an extremely low glucose level.Melody spent 5 days getting 24/7 care at the emergency hospital where she received a dextrose drip, subcutaneous fluids, blood transfusions and antibiotics. Good news: Melody was a tough puppy who fought hard and slowly made progress. Today, Melody is happy, healthy and thriving with her adoptive family. This year alone we helped 23 dogs with exceptional medical and behavioral needs with our Extraordinary Golden Fund. By donating to the Tree Of Hope you are supporting our Extraordinary Goldens and every dollar counts. https://www.grr-tx.org/tree/
Meet Penzey. Penzey is an Extraordinary Golden because she hadn’t received any basic medical care such that she came to GRR anemic, was positive for hookworms, heartworms, erlichia and anaplasmosis. It took time to address each issue but today, Penzey is healthy, happy and enjoying life with her adopting family. Life is sweet for Penzey! This year alone we helped 23 dogs with exceptional medical and behavioral needs with our Extraordinary Golden Fund. Meet Barney. Barney is an Extraordinary Golden because he had severe hip dysplasia from a birth defect and needed FHO surgery to correct this deformity. An FHO (femoral head ostectomy) is a surgical procedure that restores pain-free mobility to a diseased or damaged hip by removing the head and neck of the femur. Muscle holds the FHO in place. As Barney’s left hip was most severe, it was done first. After successful surgery and rehab, Barney is doing well and living the good life with his adopting family. At some point in the future, he will have an FHO on his right hip. This year alone we helped 23 dogs with exceptional medical and behavioral needs with our Extraordinary Golden Fund. 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, all creatures were stirring, even a mouse.
The foster dogs were singing carols on high,as the resident cats let out a soft sigh.
The Goldens were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of a furever family danced in their heads.
A Golden named Ollie and a Pom named Bear talked into the night, praying to God for a future so bright.
And then there was Centurion, who knows many tricks, hoping and praying for a permanent fix.
For Christmas will be here in a week or two, here at the foster homes with some work to do.
Merci is hoping for a home this year, W
while Cooper says the light at the end of the tunnel is near.
Riddle is curious and playful it seems, With lots to chew on including toe beans.
Rescue never closes, not even on Christmas Eve,we’ll drop anything for a Golden and will not leave.
I Love Lucy is high energy with wit, but also knows when to sit down for a bit.
Chester is at board and train, learning new skills, and Betty Boop shows off her toys for big thrills.
Olive just arrived, a little apprehension set in, but her foster rubbed her belly , and scratched her chin.
When Goldens are matched and people say, “I think this is the one,”We smile and say “our work here is done.”
On meeting day dogs perk up and wag their tail with glee, and the look in their eyes say “ME, ME, ME!”
A family is here to take them into their home, never again will they ever be alone.
A carpet, a couch or maybe a bed,They will sleep so soundly as they rest their little head.
The Gold Ribbon fosters are happy and sad,but we know the Goldens would not miss the life that they once had.
In a crate alone or running the streets,a loving person to lay at their feet’s.
Finally it happens, even on Christmas Eve,as they jump in their car and they start to leave.
With tears of happiness for a cause that we won’t stop,"Happy Christmas to all, and adopt, don’t shop!"

You don’t need mistletoe to get kisses from Ollie! Ollie would love nothing more than to find his furever home for the holidays. This special boy is a handsome, happy, and fun-loving Golden Retriever with a heart full of love. While he enjoys occasional zoomies in the yard, he’s more of a cuddle bug who prefers to rest or snuggle rather than go for long walks. At 75 lbs, Ollie’s idea of the perfect day includes lounging with his favorite people, getting belly rubs, and being showered with affection. He’s incredibly loyal, forming strong attachments, especially to his favorite person, and thrives on human companionship. Visit our website to learn more about Ollie https://grr-tx.com/dog/ollie/
